After performing, Girls’ Generation was interviewed in a waiting room and asked what the members would do if they won first place this week. Though Taeyeon mentioned that they would possibly take off their jackets and sing, the other members complained that this was too little. Taeyeon protested in return, saying, “A girl group just said they will take off their clothes and sing.” Sunny later mentioned that they would decide on an official promise for next week.

Lastly, Girls’ Generation was announced as this week’s winner for “M! Countdown” at the end of the show. Seohyun accepted the award and spoke on behalf of the group, saying, “There have been a lot of mishaps when preparing for the ‘Mr. Mr.’ album, but we want to thank all the fans for waiting such a long time and giving us unchanging love. We will reply back with better music and stages. We love you, fans! Thank you!”
Congratulations to Girls’ Generation for the group’s first win with “Mr.Mr.”!

Girls' Generation also break into the chart + 2NE1 set new record for a Kpop album on Billboard 200

Girls' Generation and 2NE1 are both continuing to achieve new feats and getting Kpop out into the world as they enter the Billboard 200 chart beating out the previous record for a Kpop album. But it was 2NE1 who grabbed the title of being the new record holder.

Entering the Billboard 200 is quite a feat as it's known as the definitive chart for album sales in the United States.

TaeTiSeo's 'Twinkle' set the record for a Kpop album by coming in at #126 on the chart back in 2012. The three members of the unit are now joined by the rest of their members as Girls' Generation came in at #110 on the chart for the week ending March 2, according to Billboard.

However, it was 2NE1 that put their name on the record as the highest charting Kpop album on the Billboard 200 as they have come in at #61.

In addition to Billboard 200, all of 2NE1's new tracks ranked in the top 40 on Billboard's K-Pop Hot 100 chart with "Come Back Home" at #2. They also ranked #5 with the song on the World Digital Songs chart.

Girls' Generation also left their mark at #5 on the K-Pop Hot 100 chart and #4 on the World Digital Songs Chart with "Mr.Mr".

It's no wonder that these two are the top two Kpop girl groups in the scene with feats such as these! For all the numbers and details, check out the Billboard posts here and here. Congrats to both groups!

Girls' Generation dish on fighting, stress relieving, crushes, and more

The ladies of Girls' Generation appeared on the March 5 installment of SBS's 'One Night of TV Entertainment' and truthfully replied to questions with humorous and interesting answers!

MC Kim Il Jong asked, "Do the members fight by any chance?"  Seohyun said, "We fight everyday,"and then became taken aback when Jessica jokingly said, "Seohyun always hits us.  If you get a bruise, you just have to think that Seohyun caused it."

Both YoonA and Seohyun explained that the latter's elbows were unnaturally pointy.

The girls also talked about how they relieved stress and what their joys in life were. Yuri said, "Sleeping makes me happy," after the other girls talked about how she could barely stay up for a movie at night.

Sunny said in relation to the video of her eating in the dorms, "Because I get stressed when preparing for a comeback, I relieve that stress by eating.  Although my weight doesn't change much because I'm so active, when I think back, I do feel like I ate too much."

Kim Il Jong also asked, "Recently, is there a man that makes your heart beat fast?Hyoyeon replied with a cute mistake, "That person in 'You Who Came From The Night,'" making everybody laugh.  It seems likely she was talking about Kim Soo Hyun from 'You Who Came From The Stars.'

She also addressed the video of her, YoonA, and Jessica partying it up in a van, saying, "That's really nothing."  It seems the girls are even quirkier when they're off camera!  Jessica concurred, "You cannot even imagine."

Sunny explained, "In order to charge up before going on stage, we need to do a warm up."

On March 6th, Jessica, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yoona, and Seohyun, as well as Tiffany separately later, all participated in a Google Hangout session for Mnet’s “M! Countdown”. Taeyeon had previously held her own Google Hangout with SHINee’s Jonghyun when the two first promoted as S.M. the Ballad a few weeks ago. Check out the video below, where the girls first appear at around the 8:51 mark.

The girls start off by waving to fans, and though there is no audio other than “Mr.Mr.” playing, the girls were able to communicate via video feed and white board. Sunny first wrote, “Hi?!” in both English and Korean. Jessica then would go on to write, “MRMR…you… like??”. Before having to say goodbye, Sunny and Yoona held up the white board one last time with the message, “6pm.. ‘Mnet’ see you later <3 also="" and="" animations="" another="" around="" camera.="" constantly="" five="" font="" girls="" one="" played="" the="" their="" throughout="" time="" to="" together="" using="" virtual="" waved="" with="">

Tiffany made her appearance later at the 12:50 mark of the video. Tiffany also waved to the camera constantly and wrote two messages. She first showed, “Hi everyone. We are finally revealing it!” followed by “Show lots of love for Mister Mister & Wait a Minute. P.S…We missed you… ㅋㅋ”. After, she cutely posed for the camera and gave one last peace sign before leaving.

Girls’ Generation Appears on ‘Midnight TV Entertainment’

gghanbam140305

Along with Sooyoung’s fantastic weekly MC segment on SBS’s “Midnight TV Entertainment”, all nine members of Girls’ Generation were also interviewed on last night’s March 5th broadcast. The show provided an exclusive interview of the ladies before their official comeback schedules begin, the first taking place tonight on Mnet’s “M! Countdown”.

The interview began with the girls arriving together to a room full of food after their own individual schedules. After getting settled in, the members all began the interview by demonstrating part of the choreography from their newest hit and comeback song, “Mr.Mr.”. The segment then cuts into behind-the-scenes footage of the music video filming itself.

The Girls’ Generation members would then go on to talk and touch upon a variety of subjects. When asked which member sleeps the most, Jessica chose Yuri. Yoona added that it was impossible to watch a movie with Yuri at night because she’s sleeping by 10:00 PM. When asked if she wakes up early as a result, Yuri responded, “No, not at all. I’ve been sleeping a lot again lately, so I wake up at around 10.” She concluded, “Sleeping is quite a happy thing.” When the girls were questioned about the guys that make Girls’ Generation members’ hearts flutter, Hyoyeon was first to answer, “For me, [that person] from what I recently watched, ‘You Who Came From the Night’? ‘You Who Came From the Stars’. (Editor’s note: “You Who Came From the Stars” is a popular drama that recently ended. Hyoyeon said the incorrect name at first.)

Moving on to the individual comeback teasers, Hyoyeon said her, Yoona, and Jessica’s video showing the three dancing in the car was “really weak”. Kim Il-Jung, the interviewer, asked, “To what degree is it normally then?” Jessica responded, “A degree you can’t even imagine?” with Sunny also adding, “We have to raise our energy before getting on stage so that our usual energy is seen. We’re warming up.” Moving onto Sunny’s video, Kim Il-Jung questioned, “Your [chopsticks] were moving really fast,” to which Sunny admitted, “We get really stressed while preparing for a comeback, and I think we relieve it with food.” Taeyeon also interjected, “We really like late-night snacks,” to which Tiffany added, “Each meal is a basis, and we constantly started eating in between them.” Sunny finished by saying, “But we’re so active that there isn’t a big change in our weight. But we realize on our own, ‘Ah, I ate too much.’”

The final part of the interview moved onto the topic of the “Mr.Mr.” comeback and the girls’ feelings about it. Kim Il-Jung observed that the secret behind the consistent love Girls’ Generation receives seems to be their friendship and then asked, “Have you really never fought, Seohyun?” She surprisingly responded, “We fight everyday,” with Jessica jokingly adding, “Seohyun hits us everyday. If we have a bruise, you can just assume it was [because of] Seohyun.” Seohyun also admitted, “I have really pointy elbows. Even if it just brushes against you, it really hurts as if I jabbed you with it. I’m sorry.” With the interview coming to an end, Kim Il-Jung said, “I’m curious as to how you feel with your upcoming comeback?” Yuri informally answered, “Nervous?” Kim Il-Jung also replied informally with “Are you nervous?” prompting Sunny to respond, “I wish he would be in charge of us and our things [because he's funny].” Sooyoung ended with, “He asked me before ‘What does SM C&C think about announcer Kim Il-Jung?’”, causing everyone to burst out in laughter. The broadcast ended with Girls’ Generation’s trademark “Right now, it’s Girls’ Generation!”.
