SNSD is taking Korea by storm! After picking up the Best Artist award at the 2010 Melon Music Awards, it was revealed that they were the most-searched, most-downloaded, and most-watched pop artists in Korea on Naver and YouTube, respectively.
Naver, which is the top Korean portal site, announced on Wednesday that SNSD was the most searched artist, and that their hit singles "Oh", "Hoot", and "Run Devil Run" had all reached the top ten in the list of most-downloaded songs of 2010. (The top spot went to miss A's debut single, "Bad Girl Good Girl".)
These results were based on information taken from the 2010 Naver Music Chart, which accounts for the millions of people who log onto the site to download music. 10Asia states that the chart "reflects the total number of music downloads, real-time ratings, real-time album chart, and the accumulated number of times the artist was searched."
As for videos, it was reported that SNSD has topped YouTube's list of most-watched videos in Korea and put three others in the top ten as well, according to the official YouTube channel, which has a website called 2010: The Year in Review.
The most-watched music video in 2010 was SNSD's "Oh", and the second most-watched was their "Run Devil Run". "Hoot" and the dance version of "Oh" rounded out the list at spots nine and ten, respectively.
And for anyone who thinks that SNSD is purely a national sensation, think again: they also placed in the top ten in other Asian countries: "Oh" placed number one in Taiwan, six in Hong Kong, and nine in Japan. "Run Devil Run" placed third in Taiwan.
SNSD hwaiting!
