Taiwanese artist Vanness Wu Talks about SNSD's Tiffany and Sooyoung

On the 2nd of July 2011, Taiwanese American actor, singer, director and producer, Vanness Wu went on a show called “100% Entertainment” where he mentioned his affiliation to Girls’ Generation, particularly, members Tiffany and Sooyoung.

Show Luo, another Taiwanese singer who was also on the show, said that his favorite member from Girls’ Generation was actually Tiffany, and showed his obvious jealousy when he exclaimed that Vanness Wu knew Tiffany and Sooyoung personally. Vanness Wu went on to elaborate that not only did he meet them through a church group last August when he went to South Korea with Jason Mar; Tiffany was actually his younger brother’s friend’s sister. (Tiffany has a brother called Leo and a sister called Michelle)

Vanness Wu also said that through the church group, he met other K-pop artists such as Big Bang’s Taeyang and G-Dragon, and members of 2NE1.

SNSD bags two awards at the 2011 MTV VMAJ

The winners of the MTV Video Music Aid Japan 2011 (MTV VMAJ) were announced on Saturday evening and impressively, Shoujo Jidai (SNSD) won two out of the three awards that they were nominated.

The 2011 MTV VMAJ took place last week on June 25 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, Japan, where the girls performed ‘Mr. Taxi’ and ‘The Great Escape’, while the winners of awards were only announced on Saturday (July 2).

SNSD bagged two award wins out of their three nominations, which are the Best Group Video and the Best Karaokee. Song categories with their Japanese single ‘Genie’.

And the impressive part of winning the two awards? Other than being the only Korean representative to be nominated in the awards, they were up also against stiff competition along the likes of Black Eyed Peas, Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber, Ikimono-gakari and w-inds.

Fans can look forward to more goodies from the 2011 MTV VMAJ as a backstage special to the June 25 event will be aired on MTV Japan on July 23. Be sure to catch it. A huge congratulations to the girls for another amazing achievement, having won another two music awards in Japan after less than a year of making their debut in the country.

Meanwhile, the girls had successfully completed one out of two concerts of their Arena Tour at the Hiroshima Green Arena, Japan on Saturday, with another scheduled for Sunday.

MBC airs SM Town Live in Paris special program

Last month we reported that MBC made the decision to broadcast a special program solely dedicated toSM Town Live in Paris concerts held on June 10th and 11th at the Le Zenith de Paris. Well, it took a while but the special finally aired through MBC on July 2nd.

The special aired all the performances from f(x), SHINee, SNSD, TVXQ, and Super Junior.

SNSD win 2 awards at MTV’s Video Music Aid Japan

Back on June 25th, the ladies of SNSD performed “The Great Escape” and “Mr. Taxi” on MTV’s Video Music Aid Japan. The event was held to benefit the Japanese Red Cross and the winners were to be announced at a later date. Well, the award winners from the event were finally announced on MTV Japan’s official website earlier today.

The girls were nominated in three categories including Best Group Video, Best Karaoke Song, and Video of the Year. SNSD won the awards for Best Group Video and Best Karaoke Song both for“Genie”, while the Video of the Year award went to LADY GAGA for “Born This Way“.

Congratulations to SNSD for this accomplishment.

Girls' Generation Rankings on French Forum

Girls' Generation and SMTOWN added a second concert in Paris for good reason: The girls have been gaining popularity in the European country of France.

"Sweety Nine Forum" is a French fansite dedicated to Girls' Generation consisting of 12 to 26 year-olds, and just like a fansite they talk about the girls a lot and in-depth. According to the Korea Herald:

The site has detailed descriptions of characteristics of nine members on its front page: Taeyeon, the most beautiful voice in the group; Jessica, unique personality with chilling charm; Sunny, Sunny Bunny the angelic voice; Tiffany, smiling eyes with a beautiful smooth voice; Hyoyeon, Dancing Queen with a unique and funny character; Yuri, the sexiest member with outstanding charisma; Sooyoung, the biggest eater who has both a tomboy and feminine side; Yoona, the pure beauty who excels in acting, modeling, singing and dancing; Seohyeon, the youngest member known for her purity and innocent side.

"Sweety Nine Forum" also recently ran a few polls regarding members' opinions on which girl is the most of a certain characterisitic. In the "Who's the sexiest member" poll, Yuri got first place with forty percent, while Tiffany garnered thirteen percent and Jessica had twelve percent for second and third places.

As reported earlier, Tiffany was voted the prettiest member with eighteen percent of the votes, with Yuri getting fifteen percent and Taeyeon fourteen percent. The full results are below.

Hyoyeon was talked about the most in a discussion about dancing, earning her the well-known nickname of "Dancing Queen" once again. Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Jessica were mentioned as the best singers. Sooyoung, Tiffany, and Jessica were named the members with the best figures, and Taeyeon and Hyoyeon were said to have the best personalities out of the nine girls.

Tentative : SNSD IN MANILA

SM Entertainment’s 9-person girl group ‘So Nyuh Si Dae’ (Girls Generation) is scheduled to come to the Philippines for their concert. The Philippines is in one of SNSD’s itinerary for 2011. The said concert is tentatively scheduled on September 24, 2011 at Araneta Colesium, where Super Junior, SNSD’s boy group counterpart, held their Super Show 2 and 3.

The schedule is said to be tentative since either one of the promoters from the Philippines have confirmed the said schedule. Rumors say that the said promoter is lacking sponsor to hold the event.
