SNSD wants you to try out for SME’s “2011 Global Audition in Korea”

SM Entertainment recently got one of their top artists to deliver a friendly video message regarding details about their upcoming “2011 SM Entertainment Global Audition.”

After greeting everyone with hopes that they’re enjoying their holidays, SNSD announced that SME will kick off their auditions on February 12th in Daegu! Running through five more cities – Daejeon, Busan, Jeongju, Kwangju, and Seoul - auditions will wrap up on the 27th.

SNSD encourages everyone to audition, “regardless of age, nationality, and gender“.

It’s likely that we’ll see more promotional videos from other SM Entertainment artists over the coming days, but until then, check out additional details on their official website.

SM Entertainment & SNSD chosen as the most influential in the industry

Sports Korea recently revealed the results of their awards survey which involved 100 professionals of the entertainment industry, who gave their opinions on which personalities had the most powerful influence over the year.

In the question that asked professionals to “choose a Korean entertainment company that had the largest influence on the industry,” 28 votes went to SM Entertainment.

Kim Kil Ho, Director of the Entertainment Management Association, revealed, “SM Entertainment was the company that raised awareness of Korean culture and business in Japan.KBS’s Kwak Ki Won EP added, “The company had the most influence in the entire entertainment industry.”

Kim Young Min, CEO of SM Entertainment, shared his feelings on winning with Sports Korea by stating, “It’s not possible to comfortably take part in the international market without revitalizing the Korean market. Next year, we’ll be focusing on the domestic market.”

CJ Entertainment came in second with 21 votes for the success of its movie, “The Man From Nowhere,” and was followed by Mnet with 14 votes, who sparked an audition wave in Korea with “Superstar K“.

SM Entertainment’s SNSD also won the “Star of the Year” award with 36 votes, making it the first time ever for a company to win both the “Entertainment Power of the Year” and the “Star of the Year” awards.

In an interview, SNSD revealed, “The first performance for our Japanese showcase was our most memorable moment. We want to go on a world tour in the new year and raise global awareness of Korean culture.”

SNSD was followed by Wonbin, who earned 19 votes for his part in “The Man From Nowhere,” and finally Jang Hyuk in third with six votes for his KBS 2TV drama, “Chuno.”

SNSD praised for being the most economical when it comes to online shopping


One A Day Social Commerce shopping mall, Crazy Ticket conducted a survey from November 29th to December 23rd entitled ‘Which girl group would pay great attention to economical shopping through social commerce?’ involving 889 participants. From the survey result, SNSD topped the list where 442 participants (49.7%) voted for them. T-Ara came in 2nd with 218 votes (24,5%) and 2NE1 in 3rd with 198 votes (22.3%).

A representative of Crazy Ticket said, “Through this survey, the public have told us about their thoughts and impressions of SNSD, T-Ara and 2NE1′s image. Particularly, many of the respondents expressed their opinions on SNSD’s thriftiness. Some of the respondents commented, ‘In view of their busy schedules, it seems that SNSD would only buy things they really need through online open market’,’Christmas gift to express gratitude towards SNSD seems to be available through social commerce’ and ‘I will only buy necessary items which are affordable and economical through One A Day Social Commerce’”.

Meanwhile, SNSD are also the most-searched figure in 2010. According to portal site, Naver, ‘SNSD’ is the 5th most popular keyword search and 1st in terms of most searched figure.

Kara and SNSD ranked among top 10 artists who shine in Japan in 2010


SNSD and Kara were included in the top 10 of ‘Artists who shine in the year 2010‘ in Japan.


From December 3rd to December 24th, an online survey was conducted on Japan’s Asahi TV’s ‘Music Station’ to determine the ‘Artists who shine in the year 2010‘.

From the poll result, Kara and SNSD were placed within the top 10, alongside popular Japanese artists such as Fukuyama Masaharu, Arashi, AKB48, Nishino Kana, Perfume, etc. Kara was ranked 6th while SNSD took the 9th spot.

This year, SNSD’s Japanese singles ‘Genie‘ and ‘Gee‘ have both surpassed sales of 100,000 copies respectivelyand recorded a total revenue of 880 million yen from all the singles and album sales in Japan this year. Besides that, SNSD’s 2nd Japanese Single ‘Gee‘ was also awarded the Best Single Award at the ‘2010 BIGLOBE Music Award‘ and ranked no.2 on ‘The 43rd Oricon Annual Ranking 2010‘ newcomers’ sales category. Such is the huge popularity and impressive achievement of SNSD in Japan this year.

There have been line-up lists circulating the internet that include 2AM and 2PM. I called the event organizers and they said that 2AM & 2PM have been invited and will most likely take part in the concert, but nothing is confirmed. They're still contacting all the agencies out there, and it's likely that all of the top groups will be performing. In total, there will be more than 20 groups!

YongSeo Couple releases banmal couple song on Youtube

s YongSeo fans may know, We Got Married’s pseudo-couple Yonghwa of CNBLUE and Seohyunof SNSD have been hard at work on their latest WGM mission to create a UCC ‘banmal song (반말송)’ — in other words, a casual tune themed by informal lyrics.

As we earlier reported, the latest episode reveals Seohyun struggling with the lyrics then impressing Yonghwa with her final product. After teasing fans with a sneak peek at the track yesterday, the Sweet Potato couple’s UCC project has been unveiled on Youtube, simply titled, “Banmal Song”.

Hanteo releases results for “2010 Singer Award”

SNSD topped Hanteo’s annual “Singer Award” chart for 2010!

Based on album sales data collected by analyst Hanteo, the “Singer Awards” chart revealed that SNSD sold a total of 303,442 copies from January 1st through December 26th.

The chart takes into account all albums released throughout the artists’ career, but only factors in sales that those albums made during 2010.

As of December 26th, SNSD’s “Oh!” sold 123,668 copies, “Hoot” sold 94,942 copies, and their repackaged album released in February sold 57,037 copies. “Genie” and “Gee,” which were both released last year, sold 5,500 copies this year as well.

Super Junior ranked in second with 262,610 copies sold from 23 albums (132,127 copies of which came from “Bonamana“), SHINee came in third with 154,332 copies sold from nine albums (58,628 copies of which came from “Lucifer“), and JYJ came in fourth with 127,456 copies sold from three albums.

B2ST, who were recently honored as the only rookie group to have passed 100,000 in album sales this year, rounded out the top 5 by coming in at fifth with four albums.


On their homepage, Hanteo boasts, “Our chart is made up of one of the most unique systems in the world. Sales data from affiliates all across the nation, along with large record stores and smaller internet shops, are all updated live into our system.”

Hanteo has always shown close results to that of systems used by entertainment agencies and distribution companies as well.

Girl group SNSD's Taeyeon was chosen as the number one female idol that people would want to introduce to their best friend.

A portal site held a poll for the film 'My Friend's Wish' asking, "Like Ziggy from 'My Friend's Wish', which female idol would you want to introduce to your best friend?"

It seems as if Taeyeon took the number one spot after showing off her cute looks and exceptional vocal skills through SNSD's promotions for 'Hoot'.

4MINUTE's Hyunah was in second with 31% of the votes, along with miss A's Suzy and KARA's Han Seungyeon in third and fourth, respectively.
