My favourite female idols! Who are your favourite female idols??

Usually i do not have much time (holidays recently) to blog and contribute on DKPOPNEWS as frequent as these few weeks.

Still hoping to make DKPOPNEWS as interactive as possible but a bit disappointed looking at the comments received on our blog,well,i think we should improve together,we will try to ask more questions and you will answer on the comment box provided.

Well,for today's topic,since i am a male,i would like to gather opinions from you guys on your favourite female idols.Of course i will list out my top 3 favourite female KPop idols here,kindly take a look at my favourites below.

1.SNSD's Kwon Yuri

Well,i like cute girls,but many told me that Kwon is one of the hottest in SNSD,why choosing her as my favourite?There is no reason for this,i just could not get my eye off her for the first time watching "Into The New World" MV,many of you will understand my situation right?

The first time for me to watch KARA's LIVE performance way back in 2008,when Goo Hara and Kang Ji Youngjust joined KARA as a 5 members group,the girls were promoting "Rock You" during that time.

Among the 5 pretty girls performing on stage,SeungYeon caught my attention the most.In my opinion she is the cutest among the members,many have been comparing her to a hamster,but in my opinion,she is cuter than it.

3.f(x)'s Sulli

Last but not the least,i guess you really realise that i like cute girls so much.

Sulli is the representative of "cuteness" in KPop and that's the main reason for me to become her big fan,men's hearts flutter seeing her wink...I mean Chu...^ ^

4minute's NINKI Listing for DIAMOND

4minute's debut Japanese full length album, DIAMOND, seems to be stirring up a lot of interest! The girls have ranked at the number nine spot on the Oricon NINKI chart. With a score of 20.20, the 4minute girls placed under greats like Michael Jackson.

NINKI ratings are created through the results of a poll conducted by Oricon, and it indicates interest in releases for the upcoming week. The ratings are not a determinant of sales, but it does provide a strong indicator of popularity and anticipation of the release by the general public. Hopefully this surge of interest can help our girls have a successful run in Japan.

Performances from the 12th Korea-China Song Festival

Earlier, we revealed photos from the 12th Korea-China Song Festival held on December 2nd, and now the broadcast of the special concert has finally been aired on TV!

The 12th Korea-China Song Festival was held at the KBS Hall this year and seeks to promote friendship between the two nations, whereby top artists from Korea and China perform under one roof.

The organizers invited SNSD, 2NE1, KARA, SHINee, CNBLUE, U-Kiss, Alex, Chae Yeon, Lena Park, Supreme Team, and Shin Seung Hoon along with Chinese artists like Sun Nam, Hit-5, and more.

Due to time constraints, not everything from the festival was shown on TV.

SNSD show off their athletics genes on Enjoy Today!

We have reported a few days ago on our site that SNSD will appear on Enjoy Today playing some sports games,the videos have been revealed,check out the clips here!

As reported earlier, MBC’s variety show “Enjoy Today” aired a special episode today that had the ladies of SNSD participating in an athletics competition with athletes Lee Bong Ju, Jang Jae Geum, and Lim Choon Ae.

SNSD Record Book Fany's Part

Individual activities
-SNSD : Nine members; nine different colours; nine different personalities. Apart from group activities, each and everyone of them is actively involve in the area of singing, radio shows, dancing and etc. Tiffany has outstanding individual activities. That includes her solo singing activities which showcased her vocal skills; 2007 [Sonyeon Sonyeo Gayo Baekseo]and 2009 [Show! Music Core]as MC. Tiffany talked about SNSD in one of the interviews. She said, "SNSD members are like fruits and snacks. Each and every one of the appearance and taste is different. It would be interesting that you taste the fruits (Members) seperately since we are very active in our own individual activities." This is Tiffany, who uses fruits as analogy to descibe members who are actively doing their individual activities. She laughed and said, "SNSD is a cake made from a mixture of ingredients (Members)", which literally means to gather all the members together. She added on," In the future, we want to show our sweet charisma to our fans." In the future they will still put up their usual style of performances for the fans.

Her Korean skills
-Korean Americans, Tiffany and Jessica, are good in English. Sooyoung once revealed that she admires Tiffany for being able to communicate in English so fluently. Tiffany, who is being admired by Sooyoung for her fluent English, her Korean is not that good. Jessica, who is also a Korean American, she started to learn Korean at the age of six but as for Tiffany, during her high school period. In an KBS entertainment show, [SNSD's Hello Baby], Tiffany often being teased by her members because of her limited understanding of Korean words. But Tiffany studied her Korean very diligently and her hardwork finally paid off. As compared to the period when she first went to Korea, her Korean improved alot. Right now the members are learning Japanese for their Japan debut activities. Tiffany is getting busier because she has to learn Korean and Japanese at the same time.

Her Golden Ratio
-Each SNSD members have fabulous body which make the fans to be so obsessed with. Especially the dance part whereby they sway their beautiful legs back and forth. There was a poll of "Which Female Artist has the most charismatic beautiful legs?" being posted at a social networking website and the first place goes to Tiffany. She dominated the poll by having 4775 votes out of 11675 votes. There were many comments like, "Tiffany's cute face and sexy body are deeply etched in male fans' heart." Her members said that Tiffany is popular among male artists. This justifies her charisma. "Tiffany is the only member who is being asked for autograph from male artists". Tiffany confirmed about this, "At first I couldnt believe it when Jeong Myeong Cheon first asked for my autograph." Not only Jeong Myeong Cheon, Jo InSung who is under the same agency as Jeong, also asked for her autograph. This proves that Tiffany has high popularity because of her charisma.

Her debut process and solo songs
-Tiffany was born in Los Angeles and is a Korean American. In March 2004, she was being scouted by an SM Entertainment staff at the Korean concert in Los Angeles. After that she was being casted and entered the industry. Because of her strong vocal skills, she received several solo songs. She participated in the OST of SBS' drama Jamyeonggo with the song "By Myself". The drama was not a hit but her OST song rreceived much attention. She was featured in a duet with K.Will called "A Girl, Meets Love". She said," That was the first time I sang a duet with a non-SNSD member and was feeling uneasy. K-Will sunbaenim sings very well and I felt very happy to sing a duet with him." The song emphasised a message of, "Wants everybody to feel being loved.". Everybody in SNSD sings very well, and Tiffany being a main vocal, her fellow members also recognized her vocal skills.

Her Japanese and Totoro
-They fret over the language after they debuted in Japan. "If you were to comprehened the language, you'll be confident and able to showcase your charisma confidently." Even though she's good in English, she knows nothing about Japanese culture. But thanks to Sooyoung, she interested in Japanese culture. Tiffany praised Sooyoung, "She taught me Japanese culture and I'm so interested in Japanese culture." She further added on, " Sooyoung's Japanese is good. Not only that, she is full of humour. I want to become a person like her." She learn Japanese through watching Totoro. Tiffany, who likes Hayao Miyazake's animation films, said, "I learn Japanese through animations. Although I'm a newbie, I understand Japanese bit by bit from the dialogues in the animation." Currently she is learning Japanese using Studio Ghibli's works.

KBS's Hello Baby
-SNSD members were the permanent cast for KBS [SNSD Hello Baby]. In this show, every one of them plays the role of the baby's mother. Tiffany was awkward with the baby when they tried to get close with him. Other members were having fun with the baby but Tiffany was being neglected by her members.

-Hyoyeon was not present at the surprise party. They say she had some things to take care of at home, but its nothing bad

-Yuri got caked!

- There wasn’t supposed to be a Q&A time, but Taengoo suggested that they have it and told people who have questions to raise their hands.

-Taengoo said she was looking down from inside the building and saw them dancing. Taeyeon didn’t exactly know it was a flash mob

- SNSD is probably watching the drama “Secret Garden.” Taengoo kept saying “Is that the best? It’s the best. It’s the best” which is a line from the drama that the male lead character says a lot

- Sooyoung’s fan was at the Surprise Birthday Party ^^ (yeah the screaming fangirl)

- Sunny took a picture of Sooyoung’s fan, but the picture was blurry.

- Sica was playing around with the helium Mickey Mouse balloon that Yuri wanted and she accidentally let it go and it flew to the ceiling

- During that time, Yuri was saying something to the fans and when she saw the balloon fly away she said “Ah! That’s mine”

- Tiffany was the MC for Yul’s party. She wore protection on her legs

- Tiffany will take off her protection guard during the second week of December

- Sica was wearing a hat at the party. She was squatting down and Yoona kept pushing down Sica’s hat (the part where it sticks out. Sica yelled out “ouch” so Yuri turned to look while she was talking

- Yuri said she wanted to do an action/melodrama movie and the topic of “Secret Garden.” They talked about the female main character Kil Ra Im and as soon as her name come out, the girls started saying Yul Ra Im! Yul Ra Im!

- Towards the end, the girls asked Fany to tell them what she’s been up to since the fans were curious. While Tiffany was talking the mic turned off, but she said it’s okay since her voice is loud keke. For two weeks, Tiffany was unable to wear clothes properly so she thought she was going to catch depression. As usual, our fashionista!!

- Seohyun said it’s time for ogle (aegyo?) time and hugged Yuri. Yuri said that Seohyun’s all grown up~ kekekeke

-Surprise party was only an hour

-Tiffany's hair is now brown!!


Summary of Yuri’s message to Sones at her surprise party

She said thanks for always being there with them wherever it may be. Whenever there is an event, they come to see them regardless of how cold it is. She also said sorry for not being able to give interest to each individual fan. Not only birthdays, she said she will work hard in her activities so that all 365 days may be a commemoration.

They say Yuri was holding back tears while saying this.

Yuri was focused on cutting the cake. During this time, Soonkyu was doing a countdown with her fingers. When it stopped, all of their hands pushed down on Yuri’s head. Yuri’s waist strength is no joke! She was trying to resist. Therefore they just got the cake and smashed it on her face.

When the cake fell down, I think it was Taengoo? looked at the cake with sympathy
And Sica ate it….. “Cake that fell down is usually good” and ate some more kekekekekkee

For a special event, there as a drawing to get Yuri’s signature
After signing the last three, Yuri thought she was done
But with a piece of paper in hand, one fan came foreward saying “Yuri nuna!!!!”
Then hugged Yuri all of a sudden. Yuri was very shocked.
That fan’s name was Kim Taengoo.

For their usual slogan, in front of the “forever SNSD” part they decided to add a New Years greeting by saying “2011 SNSD” before it, but Yoona accidentally forgot the “2011” part the first time and the second time she said “Right now its SNSD, Forever SNSD” so the girls got mad at her again kekekekekekekkeekke

During the Q&A time they asked not to ask overused questions kekekkee
so the first question was “Japan and Korea….” and as soon as that came out they said it was overused

The second question was asked by Pterodactyl (Sooyoung’s fan girl).
Sooyoung said “_ _ Pterodactyl, go” (telling her to ask the question) so the members were like “that’s her?”
Tiffany told her to come up so that they can talk for a bit kekekekeke
Tiffany said something like that on Inkigayo once too. I think she desires the Pterodactyl ^^

Yuri said yesterday in Japan they had an award? festival (<—she really said it like this keke) and rode the airplane today and came here right away.

She said that they were originally not supposed to spend 12/05 in Korea
They had a schedule in Japan but it got cancelled so that’s why they were able to do the surprise party.
Yuri said she was happy to spend her birthday with everyone in Korea

MC Tiffany told her managers to hurry and get them the cake

We all sang happy birthday and SNSD said “Tell Me Your Wish”
So Yuri prayed and blew out the candles

While cutting, Yuri said it was a waste to cut the cake so Sooyoung? or someone said “It’s okay, it’s going to end up on your face” kekekkekekekeke

There was a red ribbon in the middle of the cake. Yuri was being careful not to cut it but maknae told her to just cut it. But Sica took it off saying “Ribbon is going to be hurt” kekekekke
Then Sooyoung sang “Hurt” by 2ne1 without stopping so Tiffany told her to stop singing kekekekkee

In the back Sunny countdown with her fingers 5,4,3,2,1 and pushed Yuri’s head but not wanting to go down Yuri resisted it kekekekeke eventually Sica grabbed the cake and buried it into Yuri’s face kekekekkeke

Later Sooyoung said that Yuri resisting to not get caked was funny kekekeke

After getting caked, Yuri said that Yoona also caked her last night. She ran towards Yul as soon as it turned 12am kekekeke So Fany said "You did?" in a shocked voice so Yuri said sorry to Tiffany.. since they did it without her.. and that in Japan they did it with a Japanese cake so Fany looked envious kekekekekeke But Yuri immediately said "But I like being in Korea with Korean cake and Korean fans better"

Finally Ogeul (cheesy/finger-cringing) time!

First was Sunny "Recovering Yuri (from being caked).. Uh.. Ahh~ uh.. we were roommates in the past heuheu we also did Invincible Youth together.. Ah haha happy birthday.. Ahh~ I'm cringing~ ㅠㅠ Your healthiness and overflowing energy appearance is good to see~ continue to grind ma for your energy to be full.. euhuhhuhhuhhu... kekeke" She said something along those lines kekekekekekeke

Next was Yoona but she seemed so embarrassed. They asked what was wrong with her and she said it was because it's the daytime keke "We're roommates.. Since we talked a lot, I don't think I have to....." Sones said "ay~~~~~~" so she continued kekekekekeke "If I must.. At night.. when we sleep... hehehehe just kidding, we were roommates for a long time, enough to be YoonYul... hehe there were many times when we talked all night talking about this and that a lot kekeke we will continue to talk a lot like this in the future.. it will be nice to live as roommates.... Buy some speakers... kekekekekekekekeke I would like it if you stopped listening to my ipod.. please clean up the drawers.. kekekeke I love you^^"

Sica said Whenever they talk, she's the member to always hug her.. so she coolly said thank you and then said I love you and happy birthday kekeke

Sooyoung said Thank you for always doing kkab with her kekekekekkekekeke and that Yuri is a happy virus! Also she said, more than anyone she thinks of her members first and that her heart is beautiful!

Taeyeon said "Happy birthday, didn't we do this last year too?" She kept saying things hesitantly so Yuri said she understands her feelings kekekekek then hugged her keke and told her to hurry up and hand it over (to the next person) kekeke

Therefore it was Seohyun's turn! Even though Seohyun is mature, maknae is maknae ... Very sweetly, "Yuri unnie!^^ Happy birthday! Whatever it is, she does her best so even though I'm a dongseng ___________~" (sorry I didn't understand what she said) Then she said thank you for giving her good advices and that she hopes to live happily like this forever keke

Next was MC Tiffany! She said she isn't going to be cheesy kekekeke "This is what I have been feeling lately. What I think of the members was big, but it got bigger! Thank you so much.. thank you and happy birthday! age 22, 32, 42.......... how do I say the next?^^;;" So the members said "52!" "52.... I want to spend it with you. You are very very precious and I love you very very much.. end!"

Next was Yuri's thoughts! She said that she had cake with her members last night. Originally they had a recording schedule so they thought they couldn't come in to Korea, but the schedule all of a sudden got canceled so she liked that she was able to get celebrate it with Sones. Also she said she saw the newspaper ad (for her birthday) and that she was very thankful. She said sorry for not being able to do enough for them (sones) compared to the the outreach they do for every member's birthday. She thank you to the people who always comes and even to the fans who came for their first time. Fans come to congratulate every members birthday, but they (SNSD) can't do the same for each individual fan so she feels sorry for only receiving. Therefore, she will make an effort to live day in and out happily so that all 365 days can be a celebration She asked them to continue to support them and also not to leave them.. and thank you for supporting their Japan promotions from afar...

Members asked Fany if her legs were okay. So she said that she feels so relieved to take off her cast. Since the plaster was stuck to her entire leg, sitting down and laying down was very uncomfortable. Then Yoona said "Even her cast was pink kekekkekekeke"

When Tiffany called the girls to notify them of their 5th k-chart win... their conversation went something like this "Kids, we got 5th win!!!!" "Dae~~~~~~~~~bak"

When Sooyoung saw Tiffany's protection guard, she thought she was wearing fishnet stockings ekekkekekekeke and thought she wore it in celebration of her taking off her cast Sooyoung was talking but Taeyeon suddenly said "Earlier, I looked outside and you guys were doing something?" we told her it was a flash mob so she asked what that was so we said they danced to 'Run Devil Run' so then she said "Danced to 'Run Devil Run'?" then she asked the people who danced to raise their hands and said "daebak" kekekekekekke then the members chanted "show us" "show us" so three of them did a demonstration..... SNSD was excited so they sang the song... The girls were out of breath kekeke Sunny unnie kekeke she really has an ajumma laugh

Then they asked why they did it so we said it was for Yuri... kekeke Then Yuri said something in a soft voice so Sooyoung repeated it for us "She enjoyed it, but next time do it at home" kekekekkekekekekee

During Taeyeon's ending comment, (when talking about Yuri's lyrics) she said that Yuri wants to participate in the next album as well and that she likes that her hard work is being shown. Also that there are a lot of people who likes Lyricist Yuri... Then on the side "Remember! She said that she's hot these days kekekeke" (FYI, on Strong Heart...) Yuri didn't know what to do kekekeke she started talking gibberish kekekeke I don't remember what she said kekeke but she said that she thought that was going to be edited kekeke

Interview with the Disk Daesang winner

After ‘The 25th Golden Disk Awards‘ ceremony, our girls were interviewed by IS (일간스포츠). Here are the contents of the interview:

Reporter: What came to your mind when SNSD was announced as the Daesang winner?

SNSD: We were still in a shock. It feels like a dream. It was very much beyond our expectation as we only wish to enjoy the moments with our fans. Winning such a grand award…we felt thrilled and scared at the same time. We will never forget the moment when ‘Golden Disk Daesang SNSD’ were announced.

Reporter: The award, expected?

SNSD: Not at all. In fact, due to our anxiety, we seemed to make a lot of mistakes while performing on stage today. Usually before we get on stage, we will put our hands together and shout ‘Right Now, SNSD‘ followed by ‘Hwaiting‘ but today, everything just seems to be very hectic and we didn’t get to do it. So, while we were sitting around the table, instead of using our hands, we put our feet together and did the slogan.

Reporter: You girls must be missing Tiffany very much. At every winning speech, you mentioned Tiffany’s name.

SNSD: On the stage, SNSD will only be complete when there are all 9 of us. Because of her knee injury, the void left by Tiffany is huge. We thought about Tiffany a lot every time we receive the awards. It’s such a pity she couldn’t be here with us today.

Reporter: After receiving the ‘Newcomers’ Award’ in 2007, there seems to be some kind of a bond between SNSD and Golden Disk Awards.

SNSD: We are really grateful for the acknowledgements. The fact that the awards were decided based on the actual album and music sales made winning these awards more meaningful. All these will not be possible without our caring fans whom we are so thankful for.

Reporter: How about things that you will always remember during your trainee days?

SNSD: To be artists, we spent 4-6 years as trainees. As we looked back, we realized that our parents were very worried about us then. After becoming a singer, the most glorious moment is when we were able to stand on the stage, the feeling is really great. We would like to thank our teacher, Mr. Lee Soo Man who made our dreams come true.

Reporter: Any words for your ahjussi (uncle) fans?

SNSD: We know they cheer for us like their own little sisters or nieces. As to not disappoint them, we will always try to give our best.

Reporter: Today, are you girls going to throw a party to celebrate the win?

SNSD: Really! Today, we never thought that we would receive the daesang. Not only us, but our family – BoA sunbae-nim, Super Junior sunbae-nims and SHINee, received many awards today so there will be a big feast. The party will be prepared by our agency, we have no idea about it. We will have to talk about it.

Reporter: What is your goal for the future?

SNSD: At this moment of glory, we have none but if there must be something that we should wish for, we truly hope that the 9 members of SNSD will always be together to the end.

After the glorious victory yesterday, Leader Kim Taeyeon left a message on SNSD’s official website.   One thing we were regretful about was Fany.. She wasn’t able to be with us at that place.

SNSD On Japan Google Search Ranking 2010

On the 10th, Google released their 2010 Keyword Search Ranking. The “iPad” placed first in the “sudden rise keyword” and out of “news keywords” the “World Cup” placed first. Furthermore, out of all keywords, “YouTube” places first.


Every year at the end of the year, “Google Zeitgeist” announces yearly ranking from countries all over the world. They have ranked various categories from Japan as well. The “Sudden Rise Keyword”, is the keyword that increases the most compared to the previous year. “iPad” placed 1st in the first half of the year as well.

Sooyoung's Sensibility on Strong Heart Makes Controversies Seem Like a Joke

We're living in a generation where even doing good deeds can generate hate. There are a small number of very dedicated people out there, but when it comes to judging people doing good deeds, there are many cases where it doesn’t matter WHAT deeds they’re doing, it matters WHO is doing the deed. Even when two different people are doing the same thing, there are different standards of “judging”, and rather than looking at the big picture, people tend to nitpick and make issues out of the smaller details. The purpose is just to nitpick and target at a few people without looking at the context of the situation, the celebrity’s intention, or even the impact that they have when doing the deed. All of this attack on a celebrity isn’t because the public wants to help improve their mistakes, nor is it because the public is upset at the celebrity’s small mistakes. It only shows whether the public likes or dislikes the celebrity in question.

SNSD has been exposed to this type of attack so many times, and so frequently they have been the bait and victim to such exposure. Of course, this has required numerous apologies and improvements from the girls for their mistakes in speech or inappropriate behavior. However, despite their apologies, people continue to hold interest in each and every single thing they do, and excessive criticism and attack toward SNSD is becoming heavy. SNSD is currently the number 1 representative of girl groups, and they are in the middle of attention where they are most prone to protection from fans and from attack from others. The girls’ strongest weapons against this is their ability to move the public and change their opinion, and their ability to maintain an image that can spark positive comments and positive rumors that fight off the negative comments and rumors.

Member of SNSD, Sooyoung, and Shin Sekyung (actress) visited a past basketball coach, Park Seungil, who is suffering from Lou Gehrig’s Disease. A picture they took together during the visit became a hot topic on the internet, sparking controversy and arguments. The picture was originally posted by Park Seungil to show appreciation and thanks to the stars, without any other ulterior motive. Park Seungil and many of the nurses in the hospital visited the page and left numerous words of thanks for their visit and their mindfulness. But despite their words of appreciation, people began to say that Sooyoung lacked respect from looking at just one single picture. People began to pick at outrageous things and questioned whether she visited just to take the picture for show, or whether the kissing pose she took for the photo was appropriate.

Sooyoung’s story on this week’s episode of Strong Heart would naturally have been another easy target for the critics to raise more outrageous questions. If she explained the whole situation in detail from beginning to end, if she expressed her upset feelings on the negative remarks and accusations, or if she emphasized her personal relationship with Park Seungil and tried to disprove the accusations, she probably wouldn’t have resolved the issue and it wouldn’t have helped her situation much. In fact, it might have led to even more backlash because what matters most to the people who are criticizing her is not getting the clear-cut facts behind the situation. The critics' main objective is just to question and criticize. If Sooyoung explained her feelings and her point of view on the show, people might have started arguing and saying things like, “What’s so upsetting to you that you have to bring up that topic again to defend yourself when the issue has died down already?”

However, this smart lady didn’t express her feelings on how she was hurt in the past. She did not bring up the past matters or accuse any of the skeptics who “threw stones” at her. Instead, she talked about the moving love story of past-coach Park Seungil and his girlfriend and talked about how everybody else could help him and people like him. She talked like she has never been hurt by anybody’s words before. Through her words, she expressed her fondness to the coach and how he moved her. She knew that her sincerity and honesty was the most effective way to deal with and fight off the bad-talk aimed at her.

Everything she said was enough. What she said was even better than a detailed explanation or a tear-filled story of her own feelings. Instead of explaining what she did, she focused on the topic of Park Seungil and girlfriend’s wonderful love and devotion toward each other. And to a society that believes that it is a virtue to do good deeds without others noticing, she was able to make people think about how they have not helped those in need themselves. She was very wise in talking about the need of interest and support toward Lou Gehrig’s Disease patients. Sooyoung performed a good deed just by talking about it and raising awareness.

Overall, I do not know if Strong Heart is the most appropriate place to explain one’s misunderstandings and painful past, or if it’s the most appropriate place to settle any doubts. It is way too easy to raise more criticism for Strong Heart to be a good place to reveal one’s honest thoughts and it is much easier to stimulate controversy when the celebrity pours out everything. Sometimes, revealing insignificant but personal stories, or going on the show for the sake of self-promoting can be just as harmful and self-damaging for the celebrity. However, there have been several cases where people have raised their worth among the public despite all the hate by knowing how to deal with situations wisely and saying the right words. Through this episode, Sooyoung set a good example of just that, and it was good to see the power of sincerity in putting accusations and rumors to rest in this generation where good deeds cannot always be accepted as a good deed. It is these kinds of tears, when one is sincere, that make controversies and rumors seem like they are nothing but a joke.

SNSD Plans for a Follow-Up Song 'No' Variety Shows 'Yes'

Rather than promoting a follow-up song, group SNSD will showcase their charms through variety show programs.

On the 9th, a representative from their company SM Entertainment stated that SNSD will not promote a follow-up song from their mini-album Hoot. They said that it will be difficult to do so due to member Tiffany's leg injury.

On the 14th of last month, Tiffany fell and hurt her knee during a performance of Hoot. Due to the doctor's advice that she should rest for four weeks in order to heel, Tiffany has been resting and wears a cast on her leg. The company has decided that even if she is allowed to take off the cast, it will be too much to jump right into performing onstage.

For a while, SNSD will be able to show different sides of themselves to their fans through variety shows rather than through music promotions.

Already SNSD has been focusing on variety shows rather than performances onstage since Tiffany has been injured. Apart from member Seohyun's weekly appearance on MBC We Got Married, SNSD appeared on SBS Running Man, Strong Heart, KBS 2TV Happy Together, Night Star, etc.

Recently, they have also filmed a special anniversary episode of MBC Come to Play With Yoo Jaesuk and Kim Wonhee and Sunday Sunday Night- Enjoy Today. They're making it their goal to show a different side that fans haven't seen before through variety shows.

Shoujo Jidai eye 500k sales in Japan before year ends

SNSD who had just debuted in Japan in September 2010, are expecting to hit the 500,000 copies mark in terms of albums and DVD sales in Japan.

According to Oricon, SNSD who released 2 singles and a DVD, recorded a total sales of 318,736 as of December 9th. The DVD entitled ‘Girls’ Generation Torai – Commemorative Edition – New Beginning of Girls’ Generation‘ sold 81,034 copies as of the date mentioned, while First Japanese Debut Single ‘Genie’ which was released on September 8th, recorded sales of 112,724 copies. 2nd Debut Single ‘Gee‘ which was unveiled on October 20th added 124,978 copies to the tally.

The DVD still manages to fetch sales of about 2,142 copies in the 17th week of it’s release and it was ranked 6th based on Oricon Weekly Chart released on December 6th. Based on the Singles Weekly Chart (December 6th), ‘Genie’ and ‘Gee’ sold 2201 copies (13th week) and 4155 copies (7th week) respectively.

In addition to these, the Japanese edition of ‘Hoot’ which will be released on December 22nd is expected to boost SNSD’s annual sales in Japan and thus, surpassing the 500,000 copies mark. Japanese edition of ‘Hoot’ which comes in Regular Edition, Limited Pressing Edition and First Press Limited Edition is expected to fetch better sales than singles. With that, the goal of exceeding 100,000 copies for every music release will soon be realized.

SNSD shot real arrows at ‘Enjoy Today’

SNSD had a sport outing at set of MBC ‘Sunday Night Part 1 – Enjoy Today’.

On ‘Enjoy Today’ to be aired on December 12th, SNSD appear will be going up against athletic stars Lee Bongjoo, Jang Jaegeun and Im Choonae and it will be the race of the century.

During the shooting of the program at Jamsil Sports Complex, Shin Hyunjoon, Jung Joonho, Kim Hyunchul, Jung Hyungdon, Seo Jisuk and Lee Teuk could not conceal their nervousness due to the girls’ presence. However, it was just temporary. As soon as SNSD called out ‘Oppa’, smiles started to appear on their respective faces.

There was also a mysterious incident involving Seo Jisuk and Jessica. During the tape-changing interval, Seo Jisuk and Jessica mysteriously disappeared from the set. After a while, both of them appeared from the same direction. The crew and the members of the show were curious of what they did during their disappearance. During the recording, Seo Jisuk also showed Jessica the running and breathing techniques.

Prior to the big race, an archery competition took place. The ‘Enjoy Today’ team was divided into OB Team and YB Team. The members were enjoying themselves while teaching SNSD members some of the techniques and skills in archery, prior to the competition. SNSD finally had the experience of handling the actual arrows and Seo Jisuk once again, gave a special lesson to Jessica.

Meanwhile, the 200-meter race involving Seo Jisuk, who was a former athlete and Jang Jaegeun was one of the highlight of the show. Also, be sure to catch the girls as they challenge Korea’s former national athlete who won 3 medals at 1986 Asian Games, Im Choonae in the 800-meter race. The girls also teamed up with the ‘Enjoy Today’ members to challenge Lee Bongjoo in the 4000-meter race.

SNSD have surpassed Seo Taiji’s achievements!

As of December 8th, SNSD are ranked 1st on Hanteo in terms of total album sales in 2010. Since their debut in 2007, the girls have released a total of 31 albums and singles to date.

This year, SNSD recorded a total sales of 297,612 copies and they are on the verge of breaking te 300,000 copies mark. With that figure, SNSD have surpassed the record of previous year’s winner, Seo Taiji (248,808 copies) by a 50,000 copies margin, making them the ‘album eater’ of the year.

SNSD’s 2nd Album ‘Oh!’ (released in January 2010) recorded sales of 123,307 copies and its repackaged album ‘Run Devil Run‘ (released in March 2010) added another 56,486 copies to the tally, taking the total sales for the 2nd Album to a massive 179,1793 copies. SNSD are the only female artists who managed to sell more than 150,000 copies for a single album in 2010. In Men’s category, the only notable name in terms of album sales is Super Junior, who sold 225,648 copies from their 4th album ‘Bonamana’.

SNSD are also the only artists at the brink of achieving a ‘double double‘, a term given for the achievement of selling more than 100,000 copies for each of 2 albums released in a year. Following the success of 2nd album ‘Oh’, SNSD’s 3rd mini album ‘Hoot’ have sold 91,373 copies as of December 8th.
