SNSD and Leeteuk snaps heartwarming photos with former basketball coach Park Seung Il

Former basketball coach, Park Seung Il, recently shared some heartwarming pictures he took with theSNSD members.

Park, who’s fighting against Lou Gehrig’s disease, uploaded some pictures onto his personal webpage, ‘ALS with Park Seung Il’, under the title, ‘With my younger siblings’. The photos were from SNSD’s solo concert at Seoul’s Olympic Park Stadium, which Park attended the other day.

SNSD and Park are seen posing brightly for the camera backstage after the concert. The girls surrounded the ex-coach’s wheelchair with bright, welcoming smiles. In addition, Sooyoung andSuper Junior’s Leeteuk took a separate picture with the ex-coach, emphasizing their closeness.

Netizens who came across these pictures commented, “I’m jealous that he got to take a picture with SNSD“, and “It’s beautiful that their friendship goes beyond their age difference“.

Sooyoung and Park Seung Il have a specially intimate bond. Sooyoung had often visited Park Seung Il at his hospital ward to root for his recovery after hearing rumors of him being a big fan of her’s. The photos of Sooyoung and good friend, Shin Se Kyung giving Park Seung Il a kiss on the cheeks had garnered much interest (and antis) in the online community back then.

Ex-coach Park debuted in 1994 with the Kia Motors basketball team and became the youngest professional coach in 2002. However, he was diagnosed with ALS the following year and has been struggling with the disease ever since.

SNSD! KARA! History's Greatest K-POP Festival in Niigata


It's been revealed that 12 popular Korean groups including SNSD, KARA, 2PM, BEAST, will be gathering together to hold the greatest K-POP live event in history at Tohoku Electric Big Swan Stadium in Niigata on August 20. Named "K-POP All Star Live in Niigata," the plan is to surpass the previous audience record of any Korean music event by enmassing 46,000 people. Furthermore, to aid in the reconstruction of the earthquake disaster, middle and high school students who are taking refuge as victims in Niigata will be invited.

At last, the K-POP version of a "summer festival" has been created. On August 20, 46,000 spectators will gather at the outdoor stadium in Niigata. On the 13th of this month, "KBS Music Bank" managed to gather over 45,000 people at Tokyo Dome, becoming history's greatest K-POP live event.

12 amazing artists will be performing. As for girl groups, there will be 5-member KARA and 9-member SNSD, who received 1st and 2nd place rankings for their sales as newcomers on Oricon last year, as well as SISTAR, Secret, and 4minute, for a total of 5 groups. For boy groups, there will be 2PM and BEAST, who both made their debuts in Japan this year, as well as CNBLUE, Norazo, INFINITE, 2AM, and TEEN TOP, for a total of 7 groups to make the midsummer night hot with their singing voices.

Outside of Tokyo and Osaka, this will be the first time such a large scale K-POP event will be held locally [in Japan]. The head of MBC, the Korean TV station who is putting on the event, spoke about the reason for holding the concert in Niigata: "This event was decided in order to extend K-POP into the entire nation of Japan. In order to achieve this, activities need to be spread to other districts [of Japan]." Fans nationwide in Japan as well as many fans from Korea are to attend.

There is currently consideration to hold a concert in Sendai next year where the earth has been devastated by the earthquake disaster, as well as plans to have continuing events in other local cities from there on.

Furthermore, artists are progressively taking on endorsements for aiding the revival from the earthquake disaster. There are currently 7000 disaster victims taking refuge in Niigata, of which 300 of the middle and high school students who wish to go will be invited.

Also, a portion of the profits from the original goods to be sold there will be donated.

*Foreigners can also attend. ...The entrance ticket (advanced booking 9800 yen) presale has ended, as the planned 46,000 tickets has already been reached. However, since there could be cancellations, you can currently purchase tickets at Ticket Pia, Lawson Ticket, and e+. Presale tickets are available for fans in 47 prefectures, plus 1500 overseas fans from 9 other countries such as Korea and China are [planned] to attend.

SNSD’s Tiffany appears on the History Channel

SNSD member Tiffany recently made an appearance on the History Channel.

The History Channel recently aired a program titled, “South Korea: A Nation To Watch” which is described as, “How South Korea transformed into the economic miracle, its place in Asia today, and why it is seen by many to be a nation at ‘the centre of the world’.”

Tiffany Makes a Short Appearance on History Channel's 'South Korea : A Nation to Watch'


Girls' Generation's Tiffany was recently featured on one of History Channel's programs called the "South Korea: A Nation to Watch". Tiffany, who is known as one of the two members who is fluent in English, spoke comfortably about the rising popularity of K-Pop and why fans are so intrigued by it. She cited reasons like the internet who have made both the Korean culture and music industry so globalized in today's society. Girls' Generation's "Run Devil Run" music video was also shown for a few seconds.

Girls' Generation to Perform at the 2011 CheongShim Music Festival


It was recently revealed that Girls' Generation will be one of the artists to attend the 2011 CheongShim Music Festival. The event will be held on August 6th, at 740PM KST and near the Cheongpyeong Training Center. It will also include artists like powerhouse singers Insooni and Baek Jiyoung.

Last year, a 10,000 strong audience attended the festival, and saw great artists like No Brain, Sistar and 2AM. The event has been around since year 2005, and So Gyeongseok will be the host once again after being the MC in 2010.

The 2011 CheongShim Music Festival will be notably held on the day after Girls' Generation's 4th Anniversary. More details will be given when they are released! Stay tuned for updates!

Backstage Pictures of SNSD with Celebrities Jung Ryeowon and Park Seungil



Girls' Generation's second solo concert, the 2011 GIRLS' GENERATION TOUR, has not only brought both domestic fans and supporters from all over the world together, but has also seen the attendance of celebrities who share close relationships with the members.

On July 25th, actress Jung Ryeowon uploaded a picture of herself on Twitter with Tiffany and Sooyoung at the waiting room. She also added the caption, "I went to support Girls' Generation. These girls who work hard at everything. How pretty they are!" Sitting between the two members, the girls gave a variety of cute poses to commemorate the special day. Their close bond is ofno secret as Sooyoung recently showed her support by making a surprise appearance at the press conference of the movie "Pain" which stars Jung Ryeowon as the female lead.

Netizens gave positive responses by commenting, "Is this the era of fairies?" and "The friendship between sunbae and hoobae is so nice to see."


Meanwhile, a picture of the Girls' Generation members with ex-professional basketball player Park Seungil also emerged on the same day. The girls surrounded him and posed with bright smiles on their faces. Park Seungil is currently battling with the Lou Gehrig's disease and is an avid fan of the girls. He is also known to share a special relationship with member Sooyoung, who once talked about him at SBS's "Strong Heart"
