SNSD to perform at 'Autumnal Music Festival' on October 16th


Singers, pop and idol stars will be gracing the stage of ‘Together With Youth, 1st Nationwide People With Disabilities VS Multicultural Arts Competition’. The event which will be held from October 14th to 16th at Yeouido Park Square, Seoul is jointly organized by 147 promoters from various sectors – social, education, welfare, medical, cultural, broadcasting, etc as well as Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF) and KBS.

In the 2nd part of the event on October 16th, there will be ‘Autumnal Music Festival’ which features performances by SNSD, f(x), FT Island, Kara, MBLAQ, Rumble Fish, ZE:A, T-ara, CN Blue, Jaurim, Super Junior, miss A, 4minute, Secret, etc.

SNSD’s Yoona voted as the “doe-eyed idol” netizens wanted to protect the most

SNSD’s Yoona was chosen as the celebrity with the best “doe-like eyes”.

A plastic surgery clinic polled netizens on the question, “Which idol star gives an impression of wanting to protect them most and has doe-like eyes?“. Yoona placed 1st with 43% of the votes (159 votes).

KARA’s Goo Hara won 2nd with 33.8% of the votes (125 votes), and After School’s UEE won 3rd with 15.4% (57 votes). The poll was conducted from August 2nd to the 29th, with a total of 369 votes.

SNSD brings a 400% increase in sales for ‘Woongjin Coway’

‘Woongjin Coway’ is feeling the ‘SNSD effect’, as they’ve just reported a 400% increase in sales since the girls began modeling for their brand!

Representatives of Woongjin Coway revealed, “Ever since SNSD’s CF for our ice water purifier first began airing last April, sales for our water purifiers rose 400% in the second quarter compared to the previous year. Our recent releases have also been receiving the same effect, showing a higher rise in sales than ever before.”

SNSD signed on with the brand last March and have been promoting their ‘Coway, Look After Mom’ campaign. They’ve strengthened the brand’s image as the nation’s #1 water purifier and even managed to bring in consumers in their 20’s and 30’s when the brand previously only catered to those in their 40’s and 50’s.

Their influence doesn’t stop there, as Woongjin Coway also recently held an online survey with 100 women (aged between 25 and 39) asking two questions: which water purifier brand do you think of first and which brand do you prefer?

Woongjin Coway came out on top with 81% and 56% of the votes respectively. Their marketing team explained, “SNSD’s CF campaign has not only brought in a rise in sales, but also a new consumer base of those in their 20’s and 30’s. We’ll continue to use innovative marketing tactics with SNSD to continue our mark as the #1 water purifier brand.”

SM Entertainment confirms ‘SM Town Live’ in NYC this October

SM Entertainment has officially confirmed that they will be taking their ‘SM Town Live World Tour‘ to NYC this October!

On October 23rd, SM Entertainment artists will be heading over to the Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York to perform for a 15,000 member audience! The Madison Square Garden in particular is regarded as a ‘dream stage’ by singers, as only the best worldwide stars like Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and the likes have performed on it.

The ‘Queens of K-pop’ to dominate this Fall’s major comeback line-up

The music industry has been pounded with girl group debuts all year now, but now its “Queens” are coming back to show them how it’s done! Simultaneously, these groups will also be taking K-Pop standards to a whole new level this fall.

KARA will be the first major girl group to make their comeback this fall. They’ve already unveiled their first video teaser for their 3rd album’s title track, “Step“, through their official YouTube channel.

Step” will mark the group’s official return to the K-Pop industry after they did a joint Korean-Japanese promotion for “Jumping” ten months ago. This new song was produced by the Han Jae Ho-Kim Seung Soo combo, and it’s said to hold an exciting, rock-electronic beat that’s perfect for the upcoming fall season.

100 lucky fans who pre-purchased KARA’s limited edition album (which went up for sale on August 25th) will get to watch the group’s exclusive showcase on September 14th. KARA plans to begin their active broadcasting promotions after the Chuseok holiday weekend.

Following KARA’s comeback will be SNSD, who recently announced their official comeback for September-October. The Wonder Girls, who have been busy promoting in the U.S. for the past year, will also be making their comeback to Korea this coming November.

And let’s not forget about the sexy ladies of the Brown Eyed Girls! It’s been reported that they’re currently preparing for their long-awaited comeback, scheduled sometime for October. SM Entertainment artists attend production conference for musical ‘Fame’ by VITALSIGN on

On August 30th, the artists of SM Entertainment attended the production conference for upcoming musical ‘Fame‘ at the Lotte Hotel.

SNSD’s Tiffany, CSJH’s Lina, and Trax’s Jungmo were seen at the event; unfortunately, Super Junior’s Eunhyuk couldn’t make it due to scheduling conflicts. This will be the first musical that the group will star in with their fellow labelmates.

Producer Shin Chun Soo commented, “This is the first time so many stars have been cast for a musical. It is true that there is a great amount of stars from SM, but it’s a musical about students in an arts high school with a lot of unique and different characters. These new young friends who have been cast will be the leaders of the Korean musical industry. Those who been criticizing us for casting too many idols will be able to see for themselves through the actual musical.”

The cast also includes Son Ho Young, Goh Eun Sung, Kim Dae Hyun, Shin Ui Jung, Choi Juri, Im Sun Myung, Lee Young Gi and others. The musical will begin running on November 25th through January 29th.

Singer Ok Juhyun is garnering attention for sharing a photo taken with SNSD.

On August 29th, Ok Juhyun tweeted “SNSD flowers just bloomed in the LG Art Center” and added a photo taken with the SNSD members.

In the photo, Ok Juhyun and SNSD’s Seohyun, Tiffany, and Yuri are all seen posing fondly together.

SNSD effect gave Woongjin Coway a 400% boost in sales


According to Woongjin Coway on August 31st, the company’s sales have risen 400% in the 2nd quarter of 2011 compared to the 2nd quarter of last year, all thanks to SNSD who was selected to be the models for Woongjin Coway’s ice water purifier.

In March this year, Woongjin Coway signed an exclusive model contract with SNSD to promote their new products by taking advantage of the friendly-image displayed through the ‘Coway, Take Care of Mom’ campaign. To strengthen their image as Korea’s no.1 water purifier brand, Woongjin Coway aims to expand their market to customers in their 20s – 30s.

According to a representative of Woongjin Coway, particularly, after YoonA’s ‘Self-sterilizing Ice Water Purifier’ advertisement in June this year, the sales of the new product has gone up by 38% compared to the sales of existing ice water purifier.

Woongjin Coway’s Marketing Communication Team leader, Kim JoonHyun said, “The sales of the ice water purifier have gone up 4 times compared to the same quarter last year. The huge contribution of SNSD’s advertisement on product awareness and increase in purchase can be seen clearly”.

YoonA summons you for protection with her deer like eyes


From August 2nd to 29th, in a survey entitled ‘Idol star who possesses deer-like eyes that make you want to protect her?’ conducted on 369 participants, YoonA took the no.1 spot with 159 votes.

According to the participants of the survey, YoonA’s innocent eyes not only garner points for her beauty but upon seeing them, one would definitely feel like protecting her.

Kara’s Goo Hara came in 2nd with 125 votes while After School’s Uee took the 3rd spot.

"SM Town Live" in NTC confirmed


SM Entertainment officially confirmed the "SM TOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR" in NYC this coming October 23rd.

SM Entertainment artists will perform in Madison Square Garden in Manhattan for 15,000 American fans. The Madison Square Garden is the most prestigious venue in New York as only world-known artists such Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Justin Beiber have performed on it.

"SM Town Live" has been successful not only in Seoul and Tokyo but also in L.A. and Paris. The upcoming concert in New York is also expected to sell out tickets in no time.

Girls' Generation's Tiffany Shares Her Thoughts on Musical Debut


At the press conference held on the 30th of August,Tiffany revealed, “While the other members of Girls' Generation were doing their musicals I was also steadily practising my acting and singing”

Tiffany is the third Girls’ Generation member after Taeyeon and Jessica to participate in a musical. Her role in the upcoming musical "Fame", is a rebellious girl with a burning passion to become a star called Carmen Diaz.

Tiffany also shared with everyone, “Luckily I came upon a role that I have confidence in. If I encounter any difficulty, I can ask for advice from my friends who have already debuted in musicals. Something I have in common with my character is that in America I had dreams of becoming a singer so I came to Korea, and after going through my training period, I debuted. During my trainee days I had that passion and I think it will be easy to express the person that I was not too long ago. We have similarities and we have differences too so I must work hard at that to fulfill the role."

Tiffany stated that she is preparing a lot for her first musical challenge and said, “As of now I can’t explain how I will perform, but I’m studying the movie closely and watching the musical again. I am continually practicing the script and music. I want to act naturally so that the audience will be able to sympathize with the character.”


Based on the 1980 film of the same name, the musical, "Fame", premiered in 1988 and has had productions all over the world. The musical was first introduced to Korea in 2005. This is a teen musical that takes place in La Guardia, an Arts school in New York, and it shows the dreams and sorrows of aspiring artists who have wishes of becoming stars.

Girls' Generation's Tiffany Attends 'Fame' Press Conference


On the 30th of August, the cast of the upcoming musical, “Fame”, attended the press conference at Seoul Lotte Hotel. Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany, who had been casted as Carmen Diaz, was present at the event too. Prior to the cast’s arrival, fans of the members of the cast sent in their rice donations to support them, and Tiffany had a noticeably bigger stack of donations. Hwasueunhwa, one of Girls’ Generation’s fan cafes, donated 100KG of rice under Tiffany’s name for the musical, and their kind gesture has not gone unnoticed as they have caught the attention of many.


After the arrival of the cast, Tiffany was seen wearing a pink, polka-dotted dress, and her cute getup has caused many to call her a “walking Barbie doll”. Apart from Tiffany, other members of the cast who were present included Super Junior’s Eunhyuk, g.o.d’s Son Hoyoung, TRAX’s Jungmo and The Grace’s Lina.
