SNSD’s ‘The Boys’ nearing 300,000 album sales for 2011

Girl group SNSD‘s third full-length album ‘The Boys‘ has secured the #1 spot on the Gaon Chart for 2 months straight.

According to Gaon’s official music chart, as of December 9th, SNSD’s ‘The Boys’ which dropped back on October 19th has sold 65,048 copies in November alone and ‘The Boy’s has cumulatively sold an impressive total number of 293,042 copies.

With this accomplishment, they’re the first girl group to achieve over 200,000 album sales in 2011 and they’re about to break the vaunted 300,000 mark.

For the month of November, behind SNSD’s ‘The Boys’ was JYJ‘s special edition album ‘In Heaven‘ which sold 62,790 copies followed by IU‘s second full-length album ‘Last Fantasy‘ which sold 44,360 copies, which was a very impressive number considering it was released on November 29th.

Wonder Girls‘ second album ‘Wonder World‘ which dropped this past August secured the #4 spot with 35,051 sales and coming in at fifth place was Lee Seung Gi‘s fifth full-length album ‘Tonight‘ which sold 31,668copies. T-ARA‘s EP album ‘Black Eyes‘ sold 30,936 copies to seize the #6 spot andKim Dong Ryul‘s new album ‘KimdongrYULE‘ came in at 7th place selling 22,487 copies.

The Gaon Chart album sales numbers are calculated by subtracting the number of returns compared to the production number from the wholesale quantity. These numbers are released from each album production company warehouse.

Earlier, we reported that SNSD would be releasing a special Japanese repackage of their latest album, “The Boys“. The covers and tracklist have finally been unveiled, and it looks like the girls have drawn some big names from the electro genre for their remixes.

The album will be available in two versions: ‘Regular’ and ‘Limited Edition’.

The regular is a CD-only, meaning that there will not be any extra goods attached to the release. On the other hand, the limited edition includes a treasure trove of bonuses, including a photobook, a DVD, rubber coasters, and an obi.

Interestingly enough, it looks like the girls are repackaging their 1st Japanese album as opposed their 3rd Korean album. They’ve brought back the tracks from ‘Girls Generation‘, and added a Japanese version of ”The Boys“.

Release Date for Girls' Generation's Maxi single Confirmed!

After SM Entertainment announced the postponement of Girls’ Generation’s American maxi-single, fans have been left wondering when it will eventually be released. However, it looks like the long wait is finally over as the release date of the maxi-single has been announced for the 20th of December. The maxi-single, also titled “The Boys” will come with seven different versions of the mega hit, “The Boys”.

The first track will be the English version of “The Boys”, and the subsequent tracks will be various remixes with the exception of the last two tracks. The sixth track is the instrumental version of the “The Boys” and the seventh is an A capella version of the song. The maxi-single has already been added onto Amazon, and a short preview of each track is also available. The full songs will only be released on the 20th of December.

It looks like the month of December will truly be a month of festivity as not only will the maxi-single be released, but numerous other goodies such as the repackaged Japanese album and the repackaged “The Boys” album will be released in December too. SONEs, get ready to empty your wallets.

Girls' Generation Top Book Sales In Japan

It's not just music that Japanese fans of Girls Generation can't get enough of. It's book releases from the popular idol group as well. Or, at least a book featuring many pictures of them.

The group's first Japanese photograph collection book titled "Holiday" was number one on the book sales ranking chart in the photograph category. In the overall book sales rankings, "Holiday" placed 18th. Various photos in the book show off the girls enjoying their time off.

17,000 copies were sold in just the first week after hitting the shelves on November 30th.
