SNSD’s Yuri and Tiffany to MC 2011 Incheon Korean Music Wave Concert

Incheon City and HH Company are teaming up to hold the “Incheon Korean Music Wave Concert” and have announced that Girls’ Generation’s Yuri and Tiffany will MC the event – a role that has been assumed by MBC’s announcer Oh Sang Jin for the last three years.

SNSD’s Yuri and Tiffany have been busy with their work over in Japan but will still MC the “Incheon Korean Music Wave Concert” and perform with the rest of the SNSD members.

Fans are very interested in the concert and have high expectations for the two MCs, since their MCing skills have been verified on MBC’s “Show! Music Core“.

The event’s sponsor, HH Company, states that “Korea’s top music artists and their overseas efforts will give way to make the Hallyu Wave even hotter and induce even more interest in the phenomena. With the Hallyu Wave as our focus, we strive to put our best efforts into this concert“.

Ticket sales for the concert which will be held on August 13th, 2011 will go up for sale on Friday, July 22nd, 2011 at 2:00 PM via GMarket.

Music Bank to air ‘Music Bank in Tokyo’ special this week

On July 22nd, the usual weekly broadcast of KBS’s ‘Music Bank‘ will be preempted in favor of a special called ’Music Bank in Tokyo‘.

‘Music Bank in Tokyo’ took place last week at the Tokyo Dome, where 15 Korean groups and artists – including TVXQ, KARA, SNSD, 2PM, B2ST, 4minute, U-KISS, IU, Baek Ji Young, SECRET, Rainbow, INFINITE, Park Hyun Bin, RaNia and X-5 – performed to a wildly exuberant crowd.

The concert – which was emceed by Hyun Woo and KARA’s Gyuri and Hara – was a great success, and drew in a crowd of more than 45,000 fans despite the temperature nearing 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

SNSD to perform in Australia this November


Australian SONEs, SNSD is heading your way this November!

In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Korea-Australia diplomatic ties, the ’2011 K-Pop Music Fest’ will take place at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on November 12!

The confirmed star-studded lineup of the first all-star Kpop concert in the country consists of big names such as SNSD, BEAST, SHINee, 4Minute, Secret, CN Blue, miss A, TVXQ, KARA and 2AM!

The event will be aired on MBC and ticketing details will be announced by the organizers, JK Entertainment, on their website soon.

Girls' Generation Japanese Celebrity Look A Likes 'Who Looks More Like Who'


Recently, there have been comments and controversy over talk about the members of Girls’ Generation that have look-a-like Japanese celebrities.

On the 19th, an online community bulletin board published an article together with some photos which talked about the likeness between Girls’ Generation members and Japanese celebrities.

Girls’ Generation’s Jessica was compared to Japanese actress and model, Ai Kato. Tiffany, on the other hand, was compared to a weather caster and actress, Kaito Aiko. Sooyoung was compared to actress Aibu Saki, and Yoona to actress Toda Erika. The publisher of the thread also commented that members Taeyeon, Jessica and Yoona seem to have an uncanny resemblance to each other.

While some of the comments left by netizens showed their agreements, there were some who felt that there was no resemblance between the mentioned people at all.

According to eNews on tvN, JYJ are the second most successful Hallyu stars in the US. JYJ's income from their North America is estimated to be around 2.75 billion Won. JYJ were the only non-sports stars to make the list. 1st, 4th and 5th place went to golf players and 3rd went to a baseball player.

JYJ earned 7.17 billion Won while TVXQ earned 12.3 billion Won in the first half of 2011.


SNSD, f(x), and Norazo perform at KBS’s “Go, N7W! Here is Jeju” concert

On July 20th, KBS broadcasted the controversial “Go, N7W! Here is Jeju” concert, an event organized by Jeju Island as part of their promotional bid to become part of the ‘New Seven Wonders of the World’.

The controversy swirls around how JYJ were appointed as ambassadors earlier in May, but things took an ugly turn after JYJ’s scheduled performance was cancelled abruptly by KBS just four days before the actual concert, citing that the legal wrangle with SM Entertainment was unfinished.

Despite the mounting criticisms in the aftermath, the show must go on, and JYJ have said that they will continue to promote and support Jeju Island’s bid. The concert meanwhile went on as scheduled this evening with SNSD, f(x), Norazo amongst many others performing their hit songs.


Lee Min Ho and SNSD’s Yoona to team up for ‘EIDER’

Actor Lee Min Ho and SNSD’s Yoona have been chosen to be the new faces of French outdoor brand ‘EIDER Friends‘, following in the footsteps of their predecessors, Jang Hyuk and Chun Jung Myung.

It was said that the masculine and charismatic character Lee Min Ho portrayed through SBS’s ‘City Hunter‘ matched well with the challenging, yet professional image of the brand, while Yoona was chosen for not only her cheerful and sweet image, but also for her global star-like quality that was shown through her high popularity in Japan and Europe.

The two stars will participate in a photoshoot for the brand at the end of July, and will kick off the new season campaign with a shoot in Australia in the beginning of August. ‘EIDER Friends’ is currently working hard to prepare for the advertisement that will show Lee Min Ho and Yoona facing both challenges and adventure, which is scheduled to be released in September.

A representative from the brand stated, “‘EIDER’ received much love last season thanks to our models Jang Hyuk and Chun Jung Myung. We chose Lee Min Ho and Yoona as this season’s models in order to focus on consumers in their 20’s and 30’s who enjoy edgy and trendy styles. The two stars are stylish fashionistas and represent today’s younger population. We believe that they will be able to express the young and polished style of ‘EIDER’ very well.”

SNSD’s Parisian travels revealed through ‘Vogue Girl’

Back in June, SNSD travelled to Paris to perform in the first European SM Entertainment concert, ‘SM Town LIVE World Tour in Paris‘, where they advanced from being an icon in Asia to an icon of global status.

Naturally, the girls took a ton of photos in France to document their travels, many of which ended up in the August issue of ‘Vogue Girl‘ magazine.

The pictorial contains a simple testimony about their vacation, as well as photos that the members snapped in Paris and Les Essarts-le-Roi, a city located an hour away from the French capital.

The ladies each displayed their own individuality by showcasing diverse images. The girls are sure to draw praise for showing a Parisian sensibility as well as the fresh charms of girls in their early 20s.

'Entertainment Weekly' Says K-Pop Makes Japan's Tokyo Domo Shake


The biggest Hallyu stars of Korea were present at the K-POP Festival that was held at Tokyo Dome.

On the episode of KBS2′s ‘Entertainment Weekly’ that was aired on the 16th, scenes from the K-POP Festival were shown, showing the global power of the Hallyu Wave, that was spread past Asia into the world.

Tokyo Dome, with is the biggest venue in Japan, is the dream stage of artistes all over the world and can hold 50,000 people. Singers such as IU, KARA, B2ST, 2PM, Girls’ Generation and TVXQ were present at the venue to represent Korea.

Japanese Hallyu fans have chosen choreography, songs and good looks as the charm of K-POP and the night started off with a spectacular performance by KARA.

Following them came the cute and talented IU, 2PM with their extravagant choreography, Girls’ Generation and TVXQ, who were performing at Tokyo Dome for the second time since their concert in 2009.

When the concert was over, TVXQ stated, “We’re happy we were able to participate in this concert that became another opportunity to spread K-POP.”

SNSD TVXQ SHINee KARA and more to perform at "2011 K-Pop Music Fest in Sydney"


Dubbed as “THE biggest event in Australian Asian Pop history”, the 2011 K-Pop Music Fest in Sydney which is scheduled for the 12th of November is set to bring in 10 of the top Idol groups from South Korea. Groups such as KARA, Secret, 2AM, SHINee, Miss A, 4Minute, TVXQ, CNBlue, B2ST and Girls’ Generation are slated to perform at the first ever all-star K-Pop concert which will be held at the Sydney ANZ Stadium.

JK Entertainment has organised this event in view of the 50th anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Ties Between Korea and Australia. The company has confirmed with SBS PopAsia that these groups will be brought into Sydney for the concert. Also, the K-Pop Music Fest will be broadcasted by Korean TV Channel, MBC. Although the concert has been confirmed, the exact date as to when tickets go on sale is yet to be announced.

SNSD heads to Jeju Island for a Performance


After successfully wrapping up their first Japan Arena Tour on July 18th, the girls are back in South Korea to continue with their schedules. The 9 girls were spotted at Gimpo Airport earlier today and will head to Jeju Island to attend KBS's "World's Seven Natural Wonders". The special event is held to help raise awareness about Jejudo, and other artists like labelmate f(x) will be present as well.

Even though looking tired, the girls smiled for the cameras and were decked in casual outfits that highlighted their differences in style. Girls' Generation will perform their Korean hit songs, "Hoot" and "Gee". Additionally, the event will also be broadcast at 520PM KST through the KBS channel.

New Eider models YoonA and Lee MinHo to travel Down Under for ad shooting


On July 20th, actor Lee Minho and SNSD’s YoonA were announced as outdoor brand, Eider’s new models.

Following Jang Hyuk and Chun JungMyung’s ‘Eider Friends’ activities during the fall season, Lee MinHo and YoonA, as Eider’s models, will be meeting the customers through appearances on TV as well as publishing media.

Eider’s Brand Marketing Team Leader, Jung YongJae said, “Eider which gained huge popularity through Jang Hyuk and Chun JungMyung last season, selected the two stars with refined and trendy styles as models in order to attract young customers in their 20s and 30s. Lee MinHo and YoonA, the top stars who are icons of the young people, possess the stylish fashionista charms and they will be able to express Eider’s young and refined styles very well”.

Meanwhile, Lee MinHo and YoonA are scheduled to leave for Australia in August for the new 2011 F/W season advertisement campaign shooting session which will kick off at the end of July.
