SNSD’s Sooyoung shows her support for Jung Ryeo Won and her new movie, “Pain”

On July 21st, SNSD’s Sooyoung made a surprise appearance along with producer Kim Hyung Suk at a press conference for the upcoming movie ‘Pain‘, starring Jung Ryeo Won and Kwon Sang Woo.

Actress Jung Ryeo Won was taken completely by surprise at Sooyoung’s appearance, and commented, “We became close friends while studying the Bible together.”

Sooyoung explained , “We’ve been good friends for about two years now. She has a really cool personality, and usually loves to party and play, but I was really impressed when I saw how much effort she puts into her work.”

She added with a laugh, “Of course, we’re not doing inappropriate things when hanging out, so please don’t misunderstand.”

Sooyoung continued, “I’m friends with writer Kang Pool, and I heard that his comic ‘Pain’ was being turned into a movie. I had read the comics, so I was really curious as to how the movie would turn out. But then I heard that my close friend Jung Ryeo Won-unni had been cast in the movie, and became even more curious as to what the movie would be like.

Jung Ryeo Won added, “Sooyoung is 22 years old, so there is a 9 year difference between us, but I think our souls have the same age. We get along well, so we became close very easily. We talk about many things during Bible study, and usually meet often to talk.”

Writer Kang Pool’s comic-turned-movie ‘Pain’ describes the love story between a man who cannot feel pain (Kwon Sang Woo) and a woman who has a disease that causes her to feel immense pain from even the smallest wound (Jung Ryeo Won). It will be released in theaters this upcoming September.

"My Entire Family Voted"...But Viewers get Girls' Generation Instead of JYJ?

(omitted for repetition from C-JeS’ announcement on the 17th)

Girls’ Generation and f(x) instead of JYJ, A switch that isn’t quite right
When it was revealed that SM Entertainment’s Girls’ Generation and f(x) would be performing in the slot that was intended to be JYJ’s before their performance was cancelled, the rage of JYJ’s fans reached a new peak. This situation also added fire to the continued suspicion that SM Entertainment is restricting JYJ’s broadcasted activities.

According to Prain, who are in charge of JYJ’s publicity, the performance on the 20th was to include violinist Kim Yoon Hui, JYJ, Popera singer Lee El and Norazo. But JYJ’s agency C-JeS Entertainment received a sudden notification of cancellation from KBS on the 16th and JYJ’s performance was given to Girls’ Generation and f(x).

JYJ’s fans began sending their complaints of, “You used JYJ’s popularity to get their fans to vote for Jeju in the 7 Natural Wonders of the World poll, only to cancel their performance,” to Woo Geun Min(@withwoo), governor of Jeju Island, Jeju’s 7 Natural Wonders of the World promotional account (@7wondersJEJU) and KBS’s Twitter account(@MyloveKBS). When it was found that Girls’ Generation and f(x) would be appearing in the performance, fans continued to say, “I don’t get why you even bothered appointing JYJ as your honorary ambassadors.”

“My entire family voted…” The only winner from this is Jeju?

The problem has been magnified because of the fact that people had to pay to vote by texting in. @like_jyj said, “Because of JYJ, my entire family voted through our e-mail accounts and regularly voted by calling in or texting in for a fee,” and “We can’t help but feel betrayed by all of this.” International fans who have already paid for plane tickets and made hotel reservations to see JYJ perform were seen frustrated as they said, “Who’s going to compensate our losses and how?”

Meanwhile, KBS Jeju and the local government of Jeju Island avoided giving a definite answer to the situation by saying, “The person in charge is not present because it’s the weekend.” A representative of the local government stated, “KBS is in charge of everything for the concert and the local government is doing nothing but giving a location for the performances. The local government did not even provide financial support.” Regarding fans who believe JYJ’s position as honorary ambassadors was used to gain votes from fans and who are suffering from financial losses after having to cancel plane tickets and hotel reservations, the representative stated, “The local government of Jeju Island knows nothing about the issue.”

How do Japanese Fans Tell the Members of Girls' Generation Apart?

On July 21st, the second episode of Mnet's "BOOM the K-POP" featuring Girls' Generation was aired. In order to distinguish between the nine members of Girls' Generation, Japanese fans separated the girls into three different groups that best described and highlighted their features. The girls were placed in three groups; the "Four Devas", also known as the four heavenly guardians of Buddhism, the "Distinctive Personalities" and "The Americans".

Members Taeyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung and Yoona were chosen to be in the "Four Devas" as they were the more popular and recognizable ones among Japanese fans. Yoona's beautiful appearance and cute image gained the attention of fans, while Taeyeon was recognized for her outstanding vocals. "Black Pearl" Yuri caught the eyes of many with her tanned skin and overflowing charisma, and Sooyoung earned the title for being the most fluent member in the Japanese language.

Meanwhile, members Sunny, Hyoyeon and Seohyun form the "Distinctive Personalities" group. This is mainly due to their possessing special qualities that have allowed them to stand out among the rest. Seohyun's positive outlook in life is known even among Japanese fans, and she is famously known as the health enthusiast. Fans also find Sunny's persona delightfully cute, while Hyoyeon's powerful and natural dance skills have left a significant impression on fans.

Finally, "The Americans" more obviously consist of members Jessica and Tiffany. Born and raised in America, the two girls are known for their fluency in the English Language, and are said to have added a unique color and vibe to the group.

Many are commenting on Girls' Generation's hot popularity in Japan, and are intrigued by the different groups assigned to tell the members of Girls' Generation apart.

Tiffany and Yuri to Host '2011 Incheon Korean Music Wave' for Third Year Running

Girls' Generation's Tiffany and Yuri will once again host the "2011 Incheon Korean Music Wave" with MBC announcer Oh Sangjin. This will mark the third consecutive year that the two girls will partake in hosting the popular event.

Girls' Generation's Revenue Hits 450 Billion Won in 50 Days

Girls' Generation's sales and concert revenues in Japan have amounted to 450 billion after just 50 days.

Girls' Generation has just ended their first Japan Arena Tour on the 18th at the Marine Messe, Fukuoka. The girls performed for 14 concerts in 6 different cities across Japan. The tour started on May 31 at the Osaka-jo Hall, Osaka and continued at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, before stopping by cities like Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Nagoya. They finally performed their last concert for their Arena Tour in Fukuoka. Each concert had an average of 10,000 people in the audience.

The price of the tickets cost 9,300 yen each (approximately 125,000 won). A total of 14,000 people purchased the tickets, adding it up to about 17.5 billion won. Along with the concert goods, the number totals up to at least 200 billion won.

Only a day after the tour started, Girls' Generation released their first full Japanese album "Girls' Generation", which sold more than 500,000 copies in less than a month, certifying it as "Double Platinum" by Japan's Association of Recording Industries. According to SM Entertainment, the album sales have recently surpassed the 600,000 mark.
