Yahoo Japan ranks top 20 most searched foreign stars

The Japanese version of Yahoo recently listed its top 20 foreign search term of the past year, and has revealed that most of them are Korean pop stars.Next to solo artists Lady Gaga and Avril Lavigne, the whole top 20 consists of Korean artists. Starting of with Girls’ Generation on top of the list, KARA took a second spot. TVXQ came in a third place as most search foreign boy group and was closely followed by actor and occasional singer Jang Geunseuk. Lady Gaga closed the top 5 with her presence.Actress Kim Taehee is the odd one out in the list, as she’s the only person not known for a singing career.

Sunny Jokes About Marrying Lee Dongwook on 'Invincible Youth 2'!

Girls’ Generation’s Sunny could not hide her joy during a phone call with actor Lee Dongwook.

On the November 3rd broadcast of KBS2 TV’s “Invincible Youth 2″, Sunny had a phone conversation with Lee Dongwook, a close friend of MC Boom. Sunny said, “This is already my second time on the phone with Lee Dongwook,” and asked, “So do I have to marry him?”, causing everyone to laugh.

Sunny said, “Handsome men sure are different,” and openly showed her love for Lee Dongwook by dropping down to the ground during the phone call.

SNSD tops Yahoo Japan Foreign search ranking list

The results for Yahoo Japan‘s foreign keyword search ranking were dominated by Korea’s K-POP artists.

Yahoo Japan recently released data for the top searched terms in 2011 for male entertainers, female entertainers, and sport athletes. From the list of 20, a whopping 18 spots were filled by Koreans.

The ranking took the aggregate data from search queries on Yahoo Japan from January 1st to October 31st. Out of the top 20, only Lady Gaga at #5 and Avril Lavigne at #17 were non Koreans.

SNSD, who won “Artist of the Year“ at the 2011 MAMA‘s took the top spot on the ranking. They were followed up by KARA at #2 and TVXQ at #3. Rounding out the top 10 were: Jang Geun Suk at #4, Lady Gaga at #5, Big Bang at #6, Super Junior at #7, Kim Hyun Joong at #8, FT Island at #9, and2PM at #10.

To see K-POP artists take 18 spots in the top 20 is further proof of the growing Hallyu wave influence in Japan.

Anyways, there a lot of pictures taken from back then, so any time I look at the pictures, I’ll remember those memories.

Girls' Generation #1 girl group who make you stay tuned on TV

Girls' Generation has been chosen as the number one group to grab attention of the viewers which make them stay tuned once they appear on TV.

A survey was conducted by music site "Monkey3" starting November 24th through 30th asking "Which girl group make you stay tuned when they appear on TV?". Girls' Generation, who are currently gaining overwhelming popularity with "The Boys", ranked first on the survey.

Out of the 328 votes, Girls' Generation received 182 votes (55%) reflecting huge public support.

Netizens commented, "Their song and dance moves capture my eyes" and "The 9 members all have different looks and individuality so they grab attention".

The Wonder Girls, who are busy promoting "Be My Baby" ranked 2nd with 51 votes (16%), followed by T-ara on 3rd spot (13%), Brown Eyed Girls on 4th (9%), Secret on 5th (4%), and Kara on 6th (4%).
