YoonA writes a message for SNSD’s fourth anniversary
Four years ago, SNSD made their official debut on August 5th, 2007. In celebration of this milestone, member YoonA left a message on SNSD’s official website.
She wrote:
“S♥NE~~ It’s already been four years since we met!! ^^
Time flies so fast
We’ve been spending busy days performing at concerts and traveling to Japan
We’re so happy that there are still so many people that love and wait for us.
We’ve made a lot of memories in these past four years, crying and laughing together.
Let’s continue to make more happy memories together ^^
Let’s never foget the moment we first met! hehe
Everything that SNSD achieved was only possible because of our SONES..
So we’re always thankful and apologetic..

YoonA to take up rock climbing challenge in LA instead of Australia
YoonA is scheduled to embark on a rock-climbing challenge in a mountainous region in Los Angeles (LA) on August 8th. The rock-climbing challenge is part of YoonA’s advertisement shoot for outdoor clothing brand, Eider.
For the purpose of the shoot, YoonA will not be acting out the rock-climbing movements but in fact, she will be scaling the actual tough, rocky surface in LA. Because of this, YoonA, in the midst of her busy schedules with SNSD, has taken about a month to practice climbing artificial rock surfaces at a rock-climbing training centre in Seoul. The girls are currently having their vacation but YoonA is spending her holidays to practice rock-climbing ahead of her shooting sessions in LA.
YoonA and actor Lee Minho was schedule to shoot in Australia but due to safety issues related to climate change, the location has been changed to LA instead. Because of their respective schedules, YoonA and Lee Minho were only able to practice rock-climbing together for the first time on August 2nd.
An official who monitored YoonA’s rock-climbing practice hinted, “I’m sure YoonA is very busy due to SNSD’s activities but it seems that her rock-climbing technique is pretty good. I think she is ready for the actual rock-climbing”.
Recently, photos of YoonA’s rock-climbing practice which were uploaded on SNSD’s fancafe ‘HwaSuEunHwa’ and other online fan community sites have garnered a lot of interest among fans and netizens.
For the shooting session involving rock-climbing activities in LA, YoonA and Lee Minho will be fully equipped with safety devices and instructions as well as information from rock-climbing experts.
Girls' Generation's Smartphone App Popular
Girls' Generation's management company, SM Entertainment, released a star theme service provided by SSKIN in early July.
The service allows one to set Girls' Generation-themed wallpapers and icons. Just six months after its release, it was downloaded 1,000,000 times, and was also downloaded 300,000 times in July alone, recording at a total of 1,300,000 downloads.
SSKIN stated, "The success of 'SMTown World Tour in Paris' and Girls' Generation's second solo concert seem to have caused the steep increase."
Through Girls' Generation's vast popularity, the regions where the app was downloaded ranged from Korea and South Asia to Europe, South America, Oceania, and the Middle East.
As the Hallyu boom has been spreading through mobile devices, SSKIN's administrator stated, "We are experiencing K-Pop stars' popularity. The high number of downloads shows K-Pop stars' popularity surpasses that in Korea."
SSKIN's Girls' Generation theme can be downloaded through various smartphone application stores.
Soshified Billboard Draws Attention
Soshified, the international fan community for Girls' Generation, installed a 10.5m X 7.3m digital billboard in central Los Angeles to play a promotional video for Girls' Generation's fourth anniversary.
According to Soshified, this digital billboard has the biggest target audience in America (Editor's note: It's actually the biggest target audience in the county, not the country) and is to be displayed for 8 days from August 1st on top of the Aroma Wilshire Center Building, the center of the Wilshire Center district of Los Angeles.
Upon hearing the news, Girls' Generation fans reacted by saying, "Girls' Generation 4th Anniversary, congrats congrats", "Right now really must be Girls' Generation", "With events like this happening abroad, Girls' Generation really are impressive".
Jessica Rated Most Fashionable Idol
The idol that took the lead in best plainclothes fashion with 35% of votes was Girls' Generation's Jessica. Along with her recent beautiful transformation, her fashion sense has helped her become known as the top fashionable idol.
Jessica's fashion, that is both girly and chic, was chosen as the number one style that women want to imitate. Her airport fashion in particular gained attention for being both comfortable and stylish.
Stylist Lee Hyunbum complimented, "Jessica dresses really well, and has a good understanding of that certain style. I think she is the best within Girls' Generation."
Rounding out the top five, Davichi's Kang Minkyung was rated second, B2ST's Junhyung was third, T-ara's Hyomin ranked fourth, and miss A's Suzy placed fifth.
