Asia Today have identified Korea Republic’s ‘50 Power Leaders in 2011‘ who are capable of improving the nation’s global competitiveness.

Out of the 50 leaders selected, 19 are from the industrial sector, 14 are politicians, 12 from the social and cultural sector and 5 people were selected from the financial sector.

There were only two artistes listed in the top 50. One of them is Kolleen Park who was ranked 25th and the other is none other than the 9 angels who achieved great success in Korea and Japan, SNSD. The girls were ranked 44th and they are also the only girl group who managed to get onto the list as well. Queen of the skating rink, Kim YunA secured the no.1 spot while Korea Republic national football team captain and Manchester United’s winger, Park Jisung was ranked 39th in the list.

So Nyuh Shi Dae. I never get tired of hearing announcers say those words \^o^/ And witnessing all the ecstasy combined with tears that follows just makes me love our girls so much more. Honestly, I feel like a proud parent – I can’t even imagine how pleased their own parents are to see their daughters shining so brightly and changing lives one S♥NE at a time. 2,829 individuals took part and in the end 65% of the participants surveyed had chosen SNSD as “most blessed” in terms of awards. Let’s hear it for Soshi!!!

Now, receiving results like these in a survey is one thing, but we know it’s not all talk; there are literally shelves upon shelves full of evidence to back up this title. In 2010 alone, SNSD got their hands (both physically and metaphorically) on more than 50 awards!!! From shutting out the competition in music shows to securing the Disk Daesang to being nominated in a foreign land for Rookie Artist of the Year, these nine talented ladies were winners through and through. And you know it doen’t stop there! To fully impress upon you the magnitude of what Soshi has accomplished during the past twelve months I recommend you scroll down and take in the colossal achievement that was 2010 for So Nyuh Shi Dae

SNSD’s “Great Escape from Japan

SNSD’s “Great Escape from Japan”

In order to appear on successive stages for the year end music festivals in Japan and Korea, Korea's beautiful legged 9 member girl group, SNSD, pressed on the epic mission to leave Japan on the 30th.
Just after 7pm, after performing at the 52nd Japan Record Awards held at Hatsudai's New National Theatre in Shibuya, Tokyo, they jumped onto the vans prepared for them outside the concert hall and drove to the awaiting charter plane at Haneda Airport.
Having a very tight by the minute schedule, they landed in Seoul at 10:10pm and won KBS Gayo Daejun's Grand Prix prize "Best Song of the Year."

The beautiful legged 9 girls that are sweeping over Japan and Korea used their legs in full and took a plunge in an unprecedented operation.

On the evening of the 29th, the nine girls arrived in Japan a little bit before 11 pm on the same evening that they attended the SBS Gayo Daejun held in the outskirts of Seoul, in order to perform a stage for the Japan Record Award’s “Best Rookie of the Year” Award. On the following morning, the 30th, they rehearsed at the New National Theater, and then starting at 6:30pm held a live performance for the Record Awards on TBS.

While, the Best Rookie of the Year Award unfortunately went to S/mileage, at 6:55pm when they were finished singing “Gee”, they dashed to the waiting room. They quickly changed from their costumes to casual clothes, and rode in two waiting vans. In order to plan for unforeseen accidents or occurrences, they prepared two additional spare vans with two spare vans and at 7:05pm entered the Shinjuku Interchange and rode on Tokyo’s freeway to a special charter plane (seats 13 people) that was waiting on standby at Haneda airport.

In order to make sure that their transportation went smoothly, several routes were planned in advance. The staff that were waiting at the airport checked traffic conditions on the internet, and then decide on the very best route. In order to prevent loss of time at the airport as well, the staff checked-in luggage beforehand, and they had a firm policy of bringing nothing in besides themselves.

Thanks to this strategy, they arrived at Haneda airport in 38 minutes. They took off at 8:10pm and at 10:10pm safely landed at Gimpo Airport. The nine girls had to take off at 8:00pm to perform at KBS Hall at 11:50pm, and though they left late past 8:00, they made it by a hair’s breadth.

In Korea they shone by taking 1st place for 2 years in a row in the general award for “Best Artist of the Year.” In September, they debuted in Japan with a big break, making an unprecedented 880 million yen in sales.

Though they have a very fine schedule that plans for each minute and each second that normal people wouldn’t think of, the feelings of gratitude from the members who say “We want to meet Japanese and Korean fans” can be felt. Even 007 would be surprised at the ultra mobilization strategy they enact.

It was worthwhile though, they shone by receiving the “Best Song of the Year” Award at the KBS Gayo Daejun, which should make up for the fact that in Japan the Best Rookie of the Year award got away. This one evening symbolized their activities for the year. Moreover, it seems that next year the days of travelling all over between South Korea and Japan will only increase.

Girls' Generation to Appear on French TV

A little special surprise for our French SONEs. You'll be able to catch Girls' Generation on your local televisions on Monday (January 3, 2011)! It appears that the girls will be appearing in part of a special segment on "Un Oeil sur la Planète (An Eye on the Planet)" as shown in the teaser above.

This weekly show usually focus on a different country and this week's topic country will be South Korea and well how can you have a special about South Korea and not include the nation's artist as part of the broadcast. Usually their broadcasts include interviews and such both for this broadcast there is going to be a special segment on Korean Pop culture with an exclusive look inside the industry with SM Entertainment.

According to a past source this segment was originally supposed to air in mid-Decemeber but ended up being postponed and is now airing in January 2011.

Although it's uncertain how long they will talk about the girls or whether they even go into details about the girls this might be a good prelude to a possible Girls' Generation World Tour because it seems like the 'Korean Wave' is starting to be more apparent in the European countries. For more information on the program as well as local listing check out the program's website. French fans should record the show and tell us how it goes! To be honest I kind of want to watch the segment as well even though I can only imagine how hard it will be for me to comprehend the show with my high-school entry-level French speaking skills.

Girls' Generation's Cameo on Fuji TV's Sazae-san 3!

Even though it's rumored that Girls' Generation is currently taking a vacation now from their activities, the girls appeared on the latest episode of the Japanese drama, Sazae-san 3 on Fuji TV (on January 2, 2010).

This is the first time that a foreign artist/guest was honored with airtime on this drama so it's quite an accomplishment for the girls.

The girls were shown with cute matching pink golf outfits. They didn't say much in the cut except for simple things in Japanese like "Congratulations, Namiyasan. Namiyasan is amazing" and "We are Girls' Generation and we can sing and dance". Their Japanese version of 'Gee' was played in the background of the show though.

Although it was a short appearance, it will surely help exposure the girls to a more diverse Japanese audience. Maybe one day, we'll see one of the girls starring in their own Japanese drama or the very least give them the opportunity to appear on more Japanese variety-shows in the near future.

This was filmed prior to Tiffany's injury so therefore all nine girls were present which is a treat for all SONEs plus why would a scene with matching pink outfits ever be complete with Tiffany. The girls will appear on the Korean variety-show Come to Play on MBC as well on January 3, 2010, make sure to stream it with us. This is also pre-recorded so it looks like the girls are getting a much needed and deserved break.
