Girls' Generation takes on T-ara...in a game of Alkkagi?

On MBC’s New Year Special ’2012 Idol Star Alkkagi Championship’, which will be aired at 9.05am KST on January 22nd, Girls’ Generation, T-ara, Super Junior, SHINee, Sistar, Miss A, Rainbow, Infinite and other idol groups vyed for the strongest Alkkagi contestant title based on tournament format.

In the surprise match, ‘Show! Music Core Battle of The Strongest’, MBLAQ faced Prince of Ballad, Lee Hyun while Queens of Kpop, Girls’ Generation took on T-ara in the game of Alkkagi.

In addition to that, Roo’ra’s Go YoungWook went up against Kim JiHyun while H.O.T’s Moon HeeJoon and Tony Ahn played against each other. After the game, the junior idol members pulled off
brilliant performances of H.O.T’s ‘Candy’ and Roo’ra’s ‘Angel Without Wings’.

SM Entertainment's Facebook Page 2nd most liked for Music Labels

SM Entertainment’s official Facebook Page, "SMTOWN", has received an explosive number of 'Likes', proving its incredible popularity around the globe.

According to the social media statistics website, Social Bakers, SM's Facebook page collected the second highest number of 'Likes' among music labels in the world, and secured first place out of all the music labels in Asia.

Launched in June of 2011, the page managed to be liked by a million global fans in just seven months. If the number of likes from the individual pages of SM artists including BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls' Generation and other artists are added, they exceed over 10 million likes.

Hyoyeon the next fertility queen?

Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon hinted that she wants to become the next fertility queen after gagwoman Kim Jisun.

On the recent recording of JTBC’s show ‘SNSD and the Dangerous Boys’, Girls’ Generation and the boys were given the task of writing a diary entry for 10 years later. As each member went around reading what they wrote and when it was Hyoyeon’s turn, everyone exploded into laughter. Hyoyeon’s diary read, “The pains are coming. I think my fourth child or fifth child is about to come out!”

Also known for her keen taste in fashion, Hyoyeon also read on, “Finally I’ve accomplished what I’ve dreamt for so long.” This quote showed Hyoyeon envisions herself living her second life as a fashion designer ten years later.

She carried on, “I’m so proud of you for waiting for this day and for not giving up,” showing her hidden desire to become a designer.

Meanwhile, this episode also consisted of the boys writing letters to themselves in 10 years. The boys wrote about seeing themselves performing on stage, their reflections about their childish pasts, and also about their happy family. Aparently, listening to the boys and seeing what they wrote made the girls feel proud and grateful.

This episode will air this coming January 22nd at 7:30pm.

Taeyeon's no make up selca on Kakao Talk

Taeyeon’s Kakao Talk profile photo was recently uploaded online and it showed Taeyeon’s natural or no make-up face.
On January 18th, a photo along with the comment “Taeyeon without any makeup on looks exactly the same as her debut days”, was posted up onto an online community website.

The photo that was attached to the post was a screen capture of Taeyeon’s messenger profile photo.

In the photo, Taeyeon is lying down with a towel wrapped around her head. Even without makeup, her porcelain skin and upright nose drew a lot of attention from netizens.

Yuri selected as the best female idol in a “see-through look”

Girls’ Generation’s Yuri has been chosen as the best female idol sporting the “see-through look”.

From December 27th to January 18th, a plastic surgery clinic ran a survey asking the question “Which girl group member looks the best with the ‘see-through look’?”

It was none other than the gorgeous Yuri who took the top spot.

Ahead of this survey, Yuri had garnered the attention of netizens by showing her glamorous body in a see-through dress on a photoshoot for Cosmopolitan’s September issue. In the photo, Yuri gave off her feminine allure in a red and black see-through dress looking sexy, yet refined.

On the survey, Wonder Girl’s Sohee came in 2nd, and miss A’s Suzy followed in 3rd place.

Hyoyeon wants to be a mother of 5 children in 10 years

Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon has revealed that 10 years from now, she sees herself as a mother of five children!

On JTBC‘s upcoming episode of ‘SNSD and the Dangerous Boys‘, the girls participated in a segment called ‘Reading my Diary from 10 Years Later‘. To everyone’s surprise, Hyoyeon’s diary said, “I feel the birth pains. I think my fourth and fifth babies are on their way“.

Furthermore, Hyoyeon revealed in her diary that in 10 years, she hoped to achieve her long-time dream of becoming a fashion designer. “This is something that I’ve dreamed about ever since I was young. I am proud that I never gave up on achieving this dream,” she wrote.

The January 22nd episode of ‘SNSD and the Dangerous Boys’ will feature segments of the boys reading from their own diaries, revealing that in 10 years, they would like to perform on stage, turn away from their old lives, and start happy families.

SM Entertainment’s Facebook page ranks #2 in the world

The popularity of SM Entertainment‘s official Facebook Page, ‘SMTOWN‘, has cemented SM’s reputation as Asia’s premiere record label.

According to Socialbakers.com (a social media statistics website), SM’s fan page has accrued the second highest number of ‘Likes’ out of all the music labels in the world. They also have the most ‘likes’ out of all the music labels in Asia.

Launched in June of 2011, the SMTOWN page has already accumulated more than 1,000,000 fans. The global popularity of this Facebook page comes from SM’s continual engagement with their fans by sharing teasers, images, clips, and videos from their artists.

A representative of SM Entertainment stated, “If we add all of the ‘likes’ from the fan pages of BoA, Super Junior, TVXQ, Girls’ Generation, and other artists from our label, there are more than 10,000,000 ‘likes’.

Girls' Generation Attends Seoul Music Awards!

On the 19th of January, Girls’ Generation attended the 21st High1 Seoul Music Awards.

The girls appeared on the red carpet prior to the award ceremony, and they were dressed in matching tones of black and white. Members Taeyeon and Tiffany wore mini dresses, while Sooyoung and Yoona were dressed very smartly in blazers and long pants. Sunny’s hair in particular caught the attention of many. Her new hair style gave her a very a edgy look and it matched her outfit very well.

Girls’ Generation has been nominated tonight in various categories such as the Daesang and the Bonsang.

Girls' Generation won Bonsang and High1 Popularity Award at '21st High1 Seoul Music Awards'!

The ’21st High1 Seoul Music Awards’ took place on January 19th at Gymnastic Stadium, Olympic Park in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

For the Bonsang category, Girls’ Generation once again took home the award besides other artists such as IU, Sistar, Kara, Miss A, FT Island, Secret, Beast, etc.

In the previous edition of the award ceremony, Girls’ Generation bagged 4 awards – Daesang, Bonsang, Hallyu Special Award and High1 Popularity Award. During the award presentation ceremony tonight, the girls also performed their latest hit song ‘The Boys’.
