SNSD to announce “BIG NEWS” on May 16th

It seems something BIG is coming for SNSD in the coming days. Earlier today, the lovely ladies held their performance of “MR. TAXI” on Music Station and shortly after this performance, their official Japanese website was updated stating that on May 16th “BIG NEWS” is coming.

A very exciting tease for fans, anyone care to ponder on what this “BIG NEWS” could be? Well, we’ll have to wait until the 16th (15th in America) to find out!

Has SNSD’s Yuri’s ‘perfect’ diet gone wrong or right?

SNSD’s ‘black pearl’ Yuri succeeded in her diet plans and recently revealed her new svelte form.

Several pictures and fancams capturing Yuri’s significant weight loss have been floating around on an online community site, worrying her fans.

Even last year, Yuri still had her signature glamorous body and chubby cheeks.

However, in recent sightings, Yuri was seen with a prominent V-line and virtually no fat on her cheeks. Her drastic transformation has shocked some fans, as some thought it was for the better while others felt that it was for the worse.

Netizens said, “I didn’t know you lost weight but you seemed to have lost a lot after seeing your old photos”, “You were pretty before and now you’re even prettier”, and “How did you lose all that weight?

SNSD's Jessica photo ID


Jessica’s pictorial-like ID photo was recently revealed on online community boards as well as her own fancafe. Clad in a black shirt and brunette-colored hair style, Jessica portrayed a neat appearance. Her ID photo also revealed her fair skin complexion and sharp facial features. The slight smile on her face added even more to her goddess-like beauty. Although it is an ID photo, many thought that it looks more like the pictures featured on fashion magazines.

SNSD's Yuri recent body figure caught netizens attention


Yuri seemed to have lost a lot of weight recently and it was apparent during SNSD’s appearance at the 2011 KBS INPUT Concert aired live on May 11th.

On online community boards, pictures of Yuri before and after diet (Korean article probably made their own assumption that Yuri’s on diet) were posted to show the obvious comparison.

From comparisons made from the photos posted, it was apparent that her cheeks have become smaller and her body figure is clearly different from the older photo.

Netizens who saw the photos commented, “The agency should feed her better”, “All SNSD members seem to be underweight”, “When did she become so thin?”, “Her V-line is awesome” etc.

Girls' Generation Up for 9 Awards at MTV VMAJ


Nine-membered group Girls' Generation is up for three awards in this year's MTV VMA (Video Music Awards) Japan!

According to MTV on the 12th, Girls' Generation are contenders for the Best Group Video award, Best Video of the Year award, and the Best Karaokee! Song award at the upcoming MTV VMAJ to be held on June 25th in the Chiba, Japan.

After officially starting their activities in the neighboring country last summer, the girl idol group has already hit number one on the prestigious Oricon charts. Thus there are high expectations for them to do well at the awards ceremony.

More notably, the male idol group Big Bang had walked away with three awards at last year's VMAJ: Best Newbie award, Best Pop Song award, and Best Collaboration award. K-pop fans are hoping Girls' Generation will be another similar case in being winners of three awards.

The MTV VMAJ will be broadcast live in nine different countries icnluding Korea, Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. Popular acts like SHINee from Korea, Lady Gaga from the US, and AKB48 from Japan will be performing.

Following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March, this year the MTV VMAJ was retitled as Video Music Aid Japan.

Perfume forvSeoHyun on 'Coming Of Age Day'


In conjunction with the ‘Coming Of Age Day’ on May 16th, online shopping mall, PSatSHOP’s shopping counselors, PS Editors conducted an online survey on 100 participants to find out which stars born in 1991 will be receiving most perfume as gifts on that very day. From the result of the survey, Seohyun topped the list with 35 votes.

Kara’s Goo Hara came in 2nd while SHINee’s Minho secured the 3rd spot. Among other stars listed in the survey were MBLAQ’s Mir, After School’s Nana, Kara’s Nicole, 2AM’s JinWoon, Sistar’s Hyorin, etc.

Following the results, PS Editors commented, “We hope that SNSD’s Seohyun, who has a pure and feminine charm as well as other various charms, will start to love the process of adolescence and enjoy the thrill and experiencing the beauty of the 20s age group. Seohyun who is getting more matured and refined, is always warm within and she seems to have a gentle charm in her”.

Trax's jay joked about YoonA at drama premiere


Trax’s member, Jay who got casted in KBS’s drama ‘The Women Of Our Home’, played the role of the son of a millionaire.

During the premiere of the drama on May 12th, Jay said “My character is stubborn yet clumsy and full of flaws. Thus, I assume that he will be unique among the other characters. This was also one of the reasons I agreed to play this role.”

Jay continued, “The character I played in ‘President’ was engaged in depressing situations, but my character for this drama is bright and rather interesting. Viewers will be seeing a completely different style of acting from me. I am not really an active person but I think I act better as a clumsy character rather than a serious one”.

Besides that, Jay also joked about YoonA who is a sunbae (senior) to him in the field of acting. He said, “I didn’t get any (acting) tips from YoonA. Perhaps we aren’t that close although we are in the same company”.

Choi Soojin says SooYoung and I were not popular in school


Sooyoung’s elder sister Choi Soojin shared a story about Sooyoung and herself during their school days.

On SBS ‘One Night TV Entertainment’ where the loyals fans and families of the stars are revealed, Sooyoung’s elder sister Soojin who is currently an active musical actress made an appearance on the episode aired on May 12th. In the past, there was a topic that mentioned about Soojin being prettier than her younger sister, Sooyoung.

On Sooyoung, Soojin said, “Because my sister is very popular, people’s attention will be fixed on us once they know we’re together. Honestly, it feels rather awkward”.

In reply to the statement ‘You seem to be very popular as you are really pretty’, Soojin revealed and laughed, “My sister and I, we were not popular in school. We look more matured/older than our peers”.

SONEs conveyed birthday greetings to Sunny a couple of days earlier


Sunny received birthday greetings from SONEs and Sunshiners ahead of her birthday on May 15th.

On May 13th SNSD’s fancafe published an ad on a newspaper to convey their birthday messages and greetings to Sunny who will be turning 23 in just a couple of days. You may have seen the word ‘썬탄절 (SseonTanJeol which sounds like SeongTanJeol which means ‘Christmas Day’)’ floating around on fansites and various social network sites. It actually carries the meaning ‘The special day Sunny was born’.

A member of the fancafe said, “As Sunny’s birthday, May 15th falls on a Sunday, we decided to publish the ad on May 13th, ahead on the actual day”. On May 7th, the members of the fancafe had also carried out voluntary activities at farms in Yeoju County in Gyeonggi Province.

The members of the fancafe also stated, “We wish that all 9 members of SNSD will always stay healthy. We are looking forward to their great activities in Japan”.
