Sunny and Taemin Begin Work for "Kid Koala"

SNSD’s Sunny and SHINee’s Taemin, who were earlier reported to voice the voice the lead characters in the upcoming animated movie “Kid Koala” (also known as ”The Outback” and “Kid Koala: Birth of a Hero”) have begun work on their roles. Photos of the two idols in the recording studio were recently released.

In “Kid Koala,” Taemin voices the character Johnny, a white koala that was an outcast in the circus. He goes on a quest to save the natural resources of Australia. Sunny meanwhile will voice Miranda. Taemin and Sunny are the Korean counterparts of Yvonne Strahovski and Rob Schneider in the English-language release of this Korean-American joint production.

Along with behind-the-scenes photos, the first poster for the film was also made public. “Kid Koala” will open in cinemas in 2012.

SNSD & Wonder Girls display their close relationship

On the December 13th episode of KBS 2TVStar Life Theater‘, the Wonder Girls revealed their close friendship with girl group SNSD.

Backstage at a music program, Wonder Girls leader Sunye along with SNSD members Yoona andSooyoung reached for each other’s hands as they engaged in conversation.

Furthermore, all the members of SNSD came out to chat with the Wonder Girls, and SNSD memberTiffany remarked, “It’s so nice to be able to promote together. We missed them,” and fellow memberYoona could not hide that she was also glad to see them as well.

This is how we really are,” Sunye remarked to the camera, clearing up any false rumors of a bad relationship between the two girl groups. “Are we allowed to publicly reveal our friendship like this?”, she asked with a smile.

We talked about a lot of different things,” Sunye happily added. “It was nice to see them after so long.”

Snoop Dogg to make a feature in SNSD’s new US maxi single

9-member girl group SNSD will be making a US breakthrough, thanks to the support of world-famous hip hop musician Snoop Dogg.

According to a music industry insider who is respected in both Korea and America, SNSD will be releasing their US maxi-single “The Boys” under Universal Music Group‘s Interscope Records, home to major artists such as Lady Gaga and Eminem.

American music mediums including Amazon have already reported that SNSD’s US maxi single will consist of several different version of “The Boys”, including a slow-tempo English version as well as a club remix, and an a capella version. Many respected individuals have worked on the remix tracks, including Boston-based club DJ Clinton Sparks.

Famous rapper Snoop Dogg himself has featured in the new “The Boys” remix, further heightening anticipation for the track release. Snoop Dogg is an important figure of the West Coast hip hop scene. He is a legend of the music industry, and has been nominated for numerous Grammy awards over the years.

The insider continued, “Numerous world-famous musicians have participated in SNSD’s first U.S. single project, including Snoop Dogg. They don’t have any specific plans to promote in the US, however, it could happen if the right opportunity came along.”

This is the first time SNSD will be releasing a brand new song in English within the States.

The English version of “The Boys” off their third full-length album released this past October secured the #74 spot on US iTunes, and fans have high expectations for this US maxi single release as well.

America has already built an appreciation for K-pop’s trendy music and modern choreography, and therefore SNSD’s US debut is expected to garner much attention. There are a limited amount of girl groups in the States that incorporate dance choreography with music, and this alone should help the girls stand out.

The U.S. is a major pop music market where the influence of a hit producer can take you far, and because SNSD has already worked with Michael Jackson‘s producer Teddy Riley, expectations for their maxi-single is quite high. The maxi-single is slated for release on December 20th.

Meanwhile, the girls will be promoting their follow-up track “Mr. Taxi” in Korea for the rest of the year, and they will round out the year in Japan, attending NHK’s ‘Red & White Singing Battle’ on the 31st.

Girls’ Generation’s Yoona talked about the pressure of performing double roles in the upcoming drama “Love Rain”.

During a press conference for “Love Rain” held on December 13th, Yoona started by saying, “I had the sudden urge to start acting again because I hadn’t played a role after the daily drama two years ago. At the same time, I had a chance to read the synopsis for ‘Love Rain’ and I really wanted to do this one.”

Yoona will be playing a double role in the drama, acting as “Kim Hana” in the year 2012 and “Kim Yoohee” in the 1970s. She said, “But when I read the script for the first time I had trouble deciding which character to focus on, Kim Hana or Kim Yoohee. I heard that Kim Hana is a lot like my actual personality so I didn’t worry too much. I was worried, however, about playing Kim Yoonhee from the 1970′s. I don’t know much about the 1970′s and I don’t have that much acting experience either.”

However, she continued by explaining that Director Yoon Seokho’s guidance helped her learn a lot and showed her confidence by saying, “We are currently near the end of the filming for the 1970′s, and surprisingly, all the things I worried about are going well.”
