SNSD releases 2nd Japanese album teaser

SM Entertainment stunned their fanbase when they released a second teaser for SNSD’s upcoming Japanese album!

It’s a five-minute long clip that gave great insight into what their first Japanese album will hold. Snippets of twelve tracks – eight of them being Japanese originals – were played over some psychedelic images that tripped us out at first, but we eventually appreciated the step away from the typical ‘cutesy’ image associated with the girls.

LED Apple covers SNSD’s “Run Devil Run”

In support of senior rocker Yoon Do Hyun, rookie band LED Apple has released a new video featuring their remake of SNSD’s “Run Devil Run“.

As previously reported, Yoon Do Hyun had performed a hard rock version of the hit track for MBC’s “I Am a Singer” last week.

Through the video, the boys state, “We’ve always respected senior Yoon Do Hyun and are also fans of the show, ‘I Am a Singer.’ After seeing his performance of ‘Run Devil Run’ on the show, we decided to put up this video of our own version.”

The video received explosive views on Nate and is currently the best ranked video on the portal. Netizens commented, “They’re like mini Yoon Do Hyuns”, “Looking forward to what else they will show”, and “They’re definitely something fresh.”

The boys will be releasing their title track, “Who Do You Think You Are“, on the 16th, which will be followed by individual member profiles.

Arashi & comedian Haruna Ai cover SNSD’s “Gee”

On the May 26th episode of ‘VS Arashi’, talento Haruna Ai and Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari andOhno Satoshi performed a short cover of SNSD’s “Gee“. Haruna seems to be quite fond of “Gee” as she had danced it back in March with idol group SDN48.

The trio’s dance met with laughter and screams from audience members and celebrity guests.

SNSD & SHINee to perform at 2011 MTV VMA Japan

The 2011 VMAJ is scheduled to be held on June 25th at Makuhari Messe and it’s been announced that Korean groups SNSD and SHINee will be performing at the event which will be hosted by famous JPOP group, AKB48. In addition, famous global icon, LADY GAGA will also be performing at the event.

This year the 2011 VMAJ (usually called Video Music Awards Japan) takes on a new meaning as the show has been labeled Video Music Aid Japan this year. MTV Japan is working closely with the Japanese Red Cross in donating 10 yen for every vote cast towards the Great Tohoku Earthquakedisaster relief.

SNSD’s YoonA promotes the use of eco-friendly handkerchiefs for ‘Innisfree’

Cosmetics brand ‘Innisfree‘ has come up with a special eco-friendly handkerchief that’s being promoted by their endorsement model, SNSD’s YoonA.

Named as the “YoonA’s Jeju Handkerchief“, the item marks YoonA’s second year in the campaign. She said, “As the model for ‘Innisfree’, I made frequent visits to Jeju Island and learned so many new things about the island. I was captivated by its natural beauty and take pride in how clean and beautiful it is. These thoughts made me determined to protect its natural environment.”

She continued, “I hope to influence people to use handkerchiefs instead of using tissues. Little actions like these go a long way in protecting our environment and keeping it clean and beautiful.”

For 1 month, the handkerchief will be included for customers purchasing over $100 USD worth of items in any ‘Innisfree’ store. Customers will also be able to win an autographed handkerchief from YoonA herself.

“Innisfree” will be releasing a limited edition version of their best-selling item, the “Green Tea Seed Serum”, of which 10% of the profits will go to towards “Jejuolle” in donations.

2nd Teaser for Girls' Generation's Japan 1st Album Released!

With only three days away from the official release of Girls’ Generation’s 1st Japanese album, the anticipation is growing stronger and fans are being hyped up once again with the release of the 2nd teaser just moments ago. Check it out!



Prior to this, Nayutawave Records also tweeted that Girls’ Generation would collaborate with M-Flo to produce the 2nd teaser. M-Flo handled the remix itself while an artist called Enlightenment was responsible for the graphics of the video. Here’s the full translations:

“SNSD * Taku Takahashi (M-Flo) Collaboration! The 2nd teaser for the album materializes! Enlightenment is also in charge of the video! Look forward to SNSD’s edgy image revealed today after 3PM.”

It’s a pleasant surprise to have the two artists work together, hopefully we can witness more in the future! What are your thoughts of the 2nd teaser?

TaeYeon voted OST Queen

Another poll has been topped by a Girls' Generation member, this time in a dominant fashion. Music website Monkey3 conducted an online poll asking netizens "who is the the queen of drama OST's". Taeyeon ran away with first place, receiving 52%, or 385, out of a total of 740 votes. Baek Ji Young came in second with 26%. People in the music industry have even said, "If Taeyeon sings it, it'll be a hit."

Among Taeyeon's OST recordings are "Can You Hear Me" from MBC's "Beethoven Virus", "If" from KBS2's "Hong Gil Dong", and "I Love You" from SBS's "Athena: Goddess of War".
