When the random man received the gift, the lucky guy looked as if he couldn’t believe his own eyes.

Girls’ Generation members talk about Sun’s marriage + dating

The members of Girls’ Generation talked about dating and getting married in a recent interview with Sports Seoul.

When asked, “Shouldn’t you be in relationships by now?“, they answered, “For some reason, people find us difficult to approach. On talk shows, girl group members are asked how many people asked them out. When we hear their answers, we think, ‘What’s wrong with us?’. We’re really curious how people are introduced to each other and how they contact each other. Apparently the worst women in the world are the busy women.

The girls revealed that they keep themselves from getting lonely by making their own bar at home. Sooyoung said, “Even when we’re in foreign countries, we have our pictures taken, so we just eat by ourselves. We get together when we’re done for the day, and we drink the entire night sometimes. We order take-out and sometimes wherever we’re staying will make us food.Seohyun confessed, “The people that don’t turn red (Alcohol flush reaction) no matter how much they drink are YoonA, Tiffany, and Hyoyeon. The person that drinks the best is Sunny unni. Recently, she even drank kaoliang liquor.” Hyoyeon added, “Everyone gets in the mood, but no one really drinks that much“.
Tiffany also added, “We play a lot of games. There’s a time where we’ve even played until 4AM.

For over a year now, the girls have stopped living together in the dorm together. Their families all moved near their dorms, so almost everyone went back to live with their family. However, sometimes they will meet up at the dorms all together to eat late at night. Yuri said, “Even when we lived together, I didn’t have my own room. But I think we’re the most comfortable here. I just find myself back at the dorm. Our small happiness is to order midnight snacks together. We eat a lot like chicken, pizza, junk food, pork, and Chinese food. Why don’t we lose weight? Have you seen our choreography for this album? That’s the reason!

When the topic of Sun‘s marriage was brought up, Seohyun said, “If one of us met someone who she loved that much, then we have to congratulate her“. However, Taeyeon added, “But he has to go through 8 judges. Everyone has to give them a pass before they can get married.

Sooyoung revealed that she had met Sun’s fiance before, saying, “I thought it’d be possible for Sun to get married while she was promoting because she had such a good boyfriend. I met him, and he was such a good person. Wouldn’t it be possible for us if we meet good people as well?

Tiffany also expressed her wish for all 9 of them to meet up later on when they’re all married. She said, “Recently, I saw the Spice Girls meeting up together with children, husbands, and close friends. After I saw that, we said that we would like to meet up later on like the Spice Girls did. I think we’d be really happy.

Girls' Generation talks about 'I Got A Boy', drinking and marriage

In a recent interview, Girls’ Generation was asked about their new comeback song – ‘I Got A Boy’. ‘I Got A Boy’ is an electronic dance song that combines pop, retro, urban genre. As the public listened to the song, most people thought it was ‘fresh’ or ‘unfamiliar’, so what do the members think?

They answered, “Since we are making a comeback after such a long time, we were troubled by the image that we should present this time. Although many people are still new to many things, in fact no matter which song we sing, a part of it definitely contains our style.” Taeyeon said, “As they listen, they will get used to it.” while Tiffany said, “Instead, if they are unable to understand the song the first time they listen, that will make them listen more.” To that, YoonA explained, “If you still find it difficult to understand, then please watch our performance.”

Without realizing it, it has been 6 years since Girls’ Generation’s debut. In these 6 years, other girl groups had their share of crises but it was smooth sailing for Girls’ Generation.

Yet, members did not agree with that. Sooyoung said, “Crises? Internally, we always have that. Every day, we encounter crises. It’s like, we are walking on a piece of ice. Also, how is it possible for a group with 9 girls to not have friction between them?”

To the question why there were no news reports of any friction, the girls revealed their method to solve problems. Hyoyeon said, “Usually, our talks that seem useless are actually useful. Even if we quarrel we will gradually solve it. We believe firmly in each other.” In fact, members of Girls’ Generation have known one another for an average of 10 years.

Girls’ Generation has also grown up to meet the legal drinking age. When asked to choose the member that drinks the most, they answered, “Our drinking capacity differs when drinking different types of alcohol. Among us, Sunny is a good drinker regardless of type of drink while Tiffany and Yoona are the members, whose cheeks do not flush after drinking.”

When they were asked if they were afraid of pictures being taken recently, they said, smiling, “That’s why we choose to stay at home instead of going out and we play games a lot.”

On the day when the interview was conducted, Sunye of Wonder Girls attended a wedding dress photoshoot. Her natural image led the topic of discussion to marriage.

Unexpectedly, Girls’ Generation stayed cool towards this where Taeyeon said, “If members want marriage, of course we will be supportive” and Seohyun added, “but that is possible only after our approval (of the opposite party).”

Tiffany said, “When members of Spice Girls gathered to watch the musical ‘Viva Forever’, we talked about marriage. We said, “By then, we also hope to gather, either bringing our husbands or going alone.”

Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation will be promoting ‘I Got A Boy’ in January in Korea and move on to their Arena Tour concert in Japan in February.

Girls’ Generation reveal their honest thoughts on “I Got a Boy” comeback and choreography

Girls’ Generation shared their honest thoughts on their song and choreography for “I Got A Boy” during an interview for their comeback at Shinsadong’s SM Everything on the 8th KST.
Seohyun shared, “It was our first time trying this genre, and the tempo changes all seemed unfamiliar. I couldn’t tell where things were in the composition. It isn’t a hook song that quickly catches people’s ears, so I think it was more [strange]. But once you hear our song and scratch the surface and keep listening to it, you will discover fun elements to the song. The members also began to like it more after listening to it not once, but 100 times. At the time of our debut, we wore sneakers and did music that matched the teenage generation. Afterwards, as we entered our 20s, we had a lovely image as we wore white t-shirts and jeans and wanted to do more mature music.”
Taeyeon shared, “The trend is like this nowadays and this is the image we were aiming for, so I would like for [fans] to understand that this is ‘Girls’ Generation’ style even if it’s not their personal style. It’s not like the ‘Kissing You‘ Girls’ Generation has disappeared. The choreography is nothing new and is choreography that we have been learning and practicing since before our debut. It reminds us of our trainee period, and it was more fun that way. Although it is a drastic change, the dance moves were moves that we did since we were young, so it was comfortable and fun. Rather than shortening the choreography, the beginning starts off with acting and shows the importance of our balance, and even though we do multiple performances, it was different each time. For the choreography practice, we had to act out the music video. We couldn’t just memorize the choreography. We had to understand the story of the song and practiced harder because it was our first comeback in a long time. The unfamiliar style and having to act out a musical for the song led us to adjust the choreography and arrangement of the song multiple times.”
Tiffany stated, “[This] music [is age appropriate] and goes well with the concept of our present image. Rather than a transformation, it is a natural change that came with our age, I hope fans will watch us mature… The song is very long, and after doing this type of dance after a while… After only doing pretty dances, performing dances that are tough on my stamina [makes me] have to rest for 20 minutes after doing the routine once. Even the staff say that they feel like they’re losing weight just by watching us. I think that it would even be difficult for male groups to pull off. But after coming back for one week, my stamina got better, and I found new energy through this choreography.”
Hyoyeon shared, “It’s not a requirement, but there is pressure [to change]. We have to show a new side, and we worry about what to do if we don’t meet people’s expectations.”
Yuri shared, “At first, it was a little shocking. It is a far step from our usual choreography, so I worried if all nine members could pull it off. But the current choreography was so similar to the style we learned during our trainee period, so once we started practicing, it became exciting. We wanted to perform well, so we asked for more time to practice. Like looking at a musical, there were many elements to express so these days every time I stand on stage, watching the various, fun [actions] of the members is exciting… There is fear about taking a risk. The pressure is not exactly that ‘Girls’ Generation have to be like this,’ but there is pressure among the members to show a more mature and upgraded image from our previous album. We should show a cooler and more mature image. Although we get nervous and worried each time we release a new album, can we achieve the recognition for the growth we’re thinking of? The practice we’ve done so far was satisfying and fun, and we are grateful for it.”

Girls’ Generation reveals plans and ambitions for 2013

Girls’ Generation is currently promoting their 4th album ‘I Got A Boy’ actively, more than one year after their 3rd album ‘The Boys’. As Girls’ Generation made a powerful start in the new year, they are expected to become some of the busiest people this year.

With that in mind, it would be interesting to know Girls’ Generation’s plans for the new year.

Taeyeon: “As time goes by, my ambition for music has grown. I can feel that my enthusiasm for music is growing. Simply having music broadcasts does not quench my thirst. I would like to perform more and my goal is to transfer more energy to fans who want it.”

Yuri: “For me, I hope that I can be more creative in many areas and that I can work in more fields. That’s why I aspire to be an artiste who can express herself from her work. Since I do not stand out in any particular area, I would like to work in more fields so that I can connect them together.”

Seohyun: “I was involved in lyrics writing for the first time. I also tried writing a song. The unnies are really committed to these so they are my role models. I would also like to try challenging new things like musicals and emceeing, those that unnies have once experienced.”

Tiffany: “For me, too, as I keep doing the same thing, my thoughts on music and songs are growing bigger. In the future, I would like to continue doing music. Besides that, I’m also interested in acting. I am currently reading lots of Korean as well as English scripts because I want to take up this challenge.”

Sooyoung: “I am currently an MC for SBS’s ‘Midnight TV Entertainment’. Personally, I feel that it’s very interesting. It seems to me that in the future, as I accumulate more experiences and grow older, I will be able to do many things well. Therefore as I grow older, I would like to have more talk shows. If I see good dramas or movie productions, I would also like to give it a try.”

YoonA: “Although I am an actress, I think that I can receive many opportunities because I have ‘Girls’ Generation’ as a title. I’m working with devotion as part of Girls’ Generation, and would like to try more roles if I meet good productions. In the past, I once thought of getting rid of a girl group’s image when I tried acting, but now, as I am working as Girls’ Generation, I would like to present an image that is what the public is seeing as ‘YoonA of Girls’ Generation’.”

Jessica: “For me, since I am ambitious now, I would like to grab good opportunities. I also hope to sing and get involved in musicals like what I am doing now. If so, I will need to practice every now and then. I think learning new things is an important process. I’m studying a lot now.”

Hyoyeon: “I still think that I have not shown all sides of me on the stage. I hope to present more images, those that I want to show to everyone.”

Sunny: “I also think that trying out something new can be fun, and for what I am currently doing, I want to do it better. Although it’s important to take up new challenges, I will only try them if I have the confidence to digest them well. I think that it’s right to not do something that does not suit me. I will just tell myself, let’s just do my current work well.”
