Girls’ Generation and KARA are the highest selling Korean artists in Japan for 2012


KARA and Girls’ Generation finished off a successful year by ranking high on the Oricon yearly album chart. KARA ranked at #18 and Girls’ Generation at #25, making them the highest selling Korean artists in Japan for 2012.
KARA’s previous album ‘Super Girl’ which was released last November has already sold 295,651 copies while Girls’ Generation’s self-titled Japanese album sold 229,043 copies. Meanwhile, Japanese group Mr. Children’s ‘Mr. Children 2005-2010′ topped the Oricon chart as the best selling album in Japan this year by selling 1,170,298 copies.
KARA’s ‘Girls Forever’ and ‘Kara Collection’ also ranked at #66 and #99, respectively, on the Oricon yearly album sales chart, giving KARA three albums in the top 100.
Girls’ Generation’s ‘Girls & Peace’ album also ranked at #41 with 141,259 albums sold.

‘Girls’ Generation Country’ takes over the popularity map for 2013


The country of Girls’ Generation took over the popularity map for 2013.
A map previewing the popularity of major girl groups in 2013 was recently uploaded on an online community board which has sparked some debate. The land of each girl group country was based on their achievement for 2012 and projections in 2013.
Girl’s Generation had the largest country and took over most of the map. Not only so, but they even had a section for subgroup Taetiseo. Labelmates f(x) also took up a large portion of the map. Despite being a solo act, IU also enjoyed a large country.
The countries closest in size to the top included KARASISTAR, and 2NE1.
After School4minuteBrown Eyed GirlsGirl’s DayA PinkCrayon PopDal Shabet, andRainbow showed up on the map as well. miss A also had a significant portion, but Suzy had a large part by herself. The map also showed Wonder Girls and T-ara with significantly less area than before.

Sooyoung dazzles for Harper’s Bazaar



Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung once again displayed her stunning beauty as the muse of French clothing brand, Isabel Marant for the January issue of ‘Harper’s Bazaar’.

Sooyoung donned the 2013 S/S season collection, and unlike her usual lovely and girly image, she was able to display her mature and feminine side. Earlier this month, she also attended the flagship store opening ceremony of Isabel Marant and impressed the public with her long, shapely legs.

After the photoshoot, Sooyoung stated, “I like outfits that are casual but not too plain. I don’t really like uncomfortable clothes like tight pants or kill-heels. I have always like Isabel Marant because it’s very feminine without being too tight or uncomfortable.”







Girls’ Generation unveils ‘I Got A Boy’ tracklist



The tracklist for Girls’ Generation’s upcoming fourth Korean album ‘I Got A Boy’ has been revealed.

To be released on January 1, 2013, ‘I Got A Boy’ album consists of 10 tracks of various genres. In addition to the pre-released track “Dancing Queen”, the album will include the title track of the same name which was produced by Dsign Music, the same composer team which produced “Genie”, as well as Korean composer Yoo Youngjin. 

“I Got A Boy” has set as its main theme “girl talk”, and so will contain lyrics that sound as if they’re snippets of a gossiping session between girls and their friends.

The album will be released with ten different covers, nine of which will be individual jackets that show a single member of Girls’ Generation and one which will be a group photo.

Girls’ Generation’s Yoona releases D-5 message for ‘I Got a Boy’ comeback



The countdown to Girls’ Generation‘s 4th album ‘I Got a Boy’ continues! After Taeyeon, Yuri, Sunny, Tiffany and Seohyun gave their own special video messages, member Yoona has now released her comeback video message.

In the video, Yoona says, “I think we’re showing a new side of us through this new concept, so I’m a bit nervous, and I worried about how you all may look at it.” She continued, “I hope you all look at it in a positive light, and I hope you all continue to love ‘I Got A Boy’.”

Girls’ Generation tops Korean singers’ sales in 2012






Girls’ Generation was ranked 7th in Oricon’s ’2012 Annual Total Sales by Artist’ chart. Among the Korean singers plying their trades in Japan, the girls have recorded the highest number of sales in the year 2012.

On December 19th, Oricon officially published the annual singles and album sales ranking for 2012, calculated from December 26th, 2011 to December 17th, 2012.

According to the records published, the ranking of the artists were determined based on total sales from singles, studio albums, CD, DVD, blu-ray and etc. Girls’ Generation came in 7th after registering sales amounting to 4.332 billion Yen (55 billion Won).

Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation will be kicking off their ’2013 Girls’ Generation Arena Tour’ at Niigata, Japan.
