GD&TOP, Girls’ Generation, and miss A to hold collaborative performances with the top 3 finalists on ‘K-Pop Star’

With SBS‘s ‘K-Pop Star‘ down to its Top 3 finalists (Lee Ha Yi, Park Ji Min, Baek Ah Yeon), the three will each be holding a special collaboration stage performance with top artists under the three agencies YG, SM, and JYP Entertainments.

On April 18th, several sources revealed to Star News that Big Bang‘s sub-unit GD&TOP, would be making an appearance on the April 22nd live broadcast of ‘K-Pop Star’ to hold a joint stage performance with one of the Top 3 finalists. Girls’ Generation is also scheduled to put on a collaboration stage with one of the finalists. Lastly, miss A, who has made a fierce comeback in February with their new album entitled ‘Touch‘, has also agreed to stand on stage with one of the Top 3 finalists.

Viewers and fans are highly anticipating the upcoming broadcast as it will not only feature top idols on the show, they will also performing on the audition program live with the talented contestants. Meanwhile, a representative of the audition program stated, “We will reveal everything once everything has been confirmed.”

Seohyun’s beautiful figure in bed commercial impresses netizens

Girls’ Generation member Seohyun has recently garnered a lot of attention and praise for her appearance in a new mattress commercial.

An online community board post titled, “Seohyun is filming a bed commercial, but her body is…” has surfaced with the above photos. The advertisement pictured was filmed for a bed and mattress company, Ace, which featured Seohyun alongside fellow member YoonA as the main models. The rest of the Girls’ Generation members make an appearance as well.

The Girls’ Generation maknae’s graceful figure was accented by her body-hugging sleepwear as she filmed in the dreamy setting.

Netizens seemed very impressed as they commented, “Her legs… are so long!” “She has an amazing body line,” and “This isn’t an ad for showing off the bed… it’s for showing off Seohyun’s body!”

In related news, Seohyun recently wrapped up the recording of a track titled “I’ll Be Waiting“. “I’ll Be Waiting” will be released as an OST for popular SBS drama, ‘Fashion King’, which features Yuri in a leading role.

Girls' Generation voted Most Popular Female Singer for first half of 2012

Lee’s PR, a research company, revealed on April 18th that Girls’ Generation was the most popular female singer in the first half of 2012. 1,329 people voted in the poll, awarding Girls’ Generation 26.9% of the vote.

Girls’ Generation beat IU, Wonder Girls, Baek Jiyoung, Lee Hyori and miss A to the top female singer spot. Other than a slight slip in late 2011 where they fell down to number two, Girls’ Generation have held the number one spot in the “Female Singer” part of the poll since 2009.

The poll results come as Girls’ Generation’s popularity is soaring both in South Korea and worldwide. Their 2nd Asia Tour received international love, but their popularity is not just limited to Asia. The girls travelled to New York to film for “Late Show with David Letterman” and “Live with Kelly”, and also held a fansign event during their visit. The girls then attended “Music Bank in Paris”, further extending their popularity into Europe.

Although Girls’ Generation did not promote much in Korea in the first half of 2012, their global activities have made their fanbase even larger, truly making them deserving of the title of “Most Popular Female Singer” of the first half of 2012.

U-ie Receives Attention for Her 'Powerful Figure'!

On April 17th MBC’s television show MUSIC ‘Show Champion’ aired.

On this episode, plastic surgeons were surveyed and called upon to figure out the ultimate female idol groups member with a ‘Powerful Figure’.

The popular body type in recent times has been a “glass shape”.

The idol members who received the most attention included U-ie, Sohee, Yuri, Hyuna and Park Bom. All of these females idols are well known for their envious physiques.

According to the survey results, Yuri and Hyuna were the top choices.

But, U-ie placed in the top five as a representation for a beautiful body and overall ‘Powerful Figure’.

Yuri tops poll of girl group members with hottest body!

Yuri’s body figure received recognition not only within Korea but also internationally.

On cable channel MBC Music ‘Show Champion’ aired on April 17th, girl group members with the hottest body was revealed. Besides Yuri, other ‘nominees’ include 4minute’s HyunA, After School’s Uee, Wonder Girls’ Sohee, 2NE1′s Park Bom, etc.

From the survey, Yuri was selected by foreigners for having the best body among other girl group members.

The survey which was conducted on those in their 20s to 30s and plastic surgeons has attracted huge attention among the viewers of the show.

Meanwhile, 4minute, Sistar, Seo In Gook, Huh Gak, MC Sniper, Lee Jung, EXO-K and LED Apple made their appearance on this episode of ‘Show Champion’.

Taeyeon denies plastic surgery

Another Girls’ Generation member has come under attack for allegedly having gone under the knife, according to netizens.

Recently at one online forum, a comparison picture containing images of Taeyeon on “Show! Music Central,” which aired on April 14, was compared to an older image of the star.

Netizens remarked that the change was obvious and that unlike the by-gone days where the star had a cute look, that she now had “A pointier, more Western nose,” than the week before.

Meanwhile the star’s agency, SM Entertainment has defended her, saying the accusations are “ridiculous.” On April 16th, a representative of their agency stated, “We find it absurd that these rumors have surfaced when they are currently busy with their schedules.”

Fans celebrate Jessica's birthday with a newspaper advertisement

In celebration of her 23rd birthday, (Editor’s note: Jessica is 23 according to her Western age and 24 according to her Korean age) fans of Girls’ Generation gave Jessica a very special gift by placing an advertisement in a newspaper.

Jessica has the nickname “Ice Princess” because of her usually cold facial expression. However, she is known to receive lots of love from her fans because of her lively and gentle personality, while also having fun and laughing with her fans. Jessica is currently taking a short break from activities after completing her first acting attempt in the KBS 2TV drama, “Wild Romance”.

The newspaper advertisement contained both a poem and a short message, which read:

Fans crash 'Dream Concert' ticket website

On April 17th at 8 o’clock, tickets for the upcoming 18th Dream Concert went on sale for public. Moments after the opening of the ticket reservation website, it immediately crashed due to the mass influx of traffic.

The Dream Concert is an annual concert event to give a sense of hope and dreams to the youth. It aims to give inspirations to them through the artists. This year’s Dream Concert will be held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on May 12 6:30pm KST.

Girls’ Generation member Seohyun‘s hard-working nature is becoming a hot topic of conversation among netizens.

Photos surfaced on an online community site with the caption, “Snapshot at a makeup shop“. Seohyun can be seen wearing a clip to hold her bangs back as she looks over her script.

The Girls’ Generation maknae is currently a co-host on MBC‘s ‘Show! Music Core‘, and befitting her image as a perfectionist, she seems to be taking every opportunity to memorize her lines. The singer’s upright posture also drew attention. Fans and netizens stated that her posture further proved Seohyun’s reputation as mindful, proper, and ladylike.

SM Entertainment denies plastic surgery rumors regarding Taeyeon

Following Hyoyeon, Girls’ Generation member Taeyeon has fallen victim to plastic surgery rumors.

The rumors surfaced after the April 14th broadcast of MBC‘s ‘Music Core‘ showed the singer appearing somewhat different than before. Netizens have been claiming that her nose bridge seemed to be taller and her jaw line seemed to be more sleek. They immediately captured screen shots of the singer and uploaded them onto online community sites with captions that read, “Past photos of Taeyeon to the present”.

However, SM Entertainment has stepped forward and slammed all plastic surgery rumors regarding the Girls’ Generation member. On April 16th, a representative of their agency spoke with Star Newsstating, “We find it absurd that these rumors have surfaced when they are currently busy with their schedules.”

Taeyeon was unable to emcee the April 7th episode of ‘Music Core’ due to her participation in the recording of MBC’s ‘2012 Thailand Hallyu Concert‘ at the Rachamankha stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

YoonA proves too cute to be sexy in ‘Love Rain’

On the April 16th broadcast of KBS‘s ‘Love Rain‘, Girls’ Generation‘s YoonA charmed viewers with her adorable antics.

The episode focused on Hana (YoonA) accepting Suh Joon’s (Jang Geun Suk) offer to become a model, and her subsequent visit to his studio. After coming upon the photo shoot of model “Goo Eun Ae”, Hana becomes intimidated by her professionalism and sneaks out back to practice her own poses.

Because of her cute image, Hana’s attempts to pull off sexy poses only served to make her look cuter than ever, achieving the opposite of what she had hoped. No matter how much she pouted her lips or winked for an invisible camera, Hana was unable to fool anyone with the act. The cafe staff, who were watching through the window, were not convinced. Embarrassed after being caught, Hana immediately planted herself down on a seat, acting as if nothing happened.

Although short, the scene was enough to squeeze an “awww” out of viewers.
