Girls’ Generation’s “The Best” album has just topped the Oricon chart for the week of August 11th. This is the second consecutive week it has done so, the first being the week of August 4th. Girls’ Generation is the first Korean group to achieve this feat; BoA topped the Oricon weekly chart twice in a row in 2004 with her album, “Love & Honesty”. “The Best” has also placed first on the Oricon daily chart for twelve consecutive days, from July 22nd to August 2nd. In total, 106,000 copies of the album have been sold so far.

At the end of last year, Girls’ Generation was also the first Korean girl group to obtain the number one spot more than once on the Oricon weekly chart with their “GIRLS&PEACE” album, after their “Girls’ Generation” Japanese debut album ranked first in 2011.
