Billboard has released its latest charts, and Girls’ Generation’s fourth Korean album has ranked highly on multiple charts. “I Got A Boy” debuted at #1 on the “World Albums” chart, #2 on the “Heatseekers Albums” chart (which tracks albums by artists yet to appear on the Top 200 chart), and #23 on the “Independent Albums” chart. The subunit Girls’ Generation – TTS ranked at #1 on the “World Albums” chart earlier in 2012 with “Twinkle”, making Girls’ Generation’s latest release their second number one World Album.
The title track for the album, “I Got A Boy”, also took the top spot on the K-Pop “Hot 100″ chart. This gives Girls’ Generation their second number one song since the chart’s inception, with the first being “The Boys”. “Dancing Queen” ranks at #4 on the chart, making it two songs from the album charting in the top five. Additionally, the music video for “I Got A Boy” came in at #2 on the YouTube chart, right behind the chart’s mainstay, PSY’s viral hit, “Gangnam Style”, and ahead of Rihanna’s “Diamonds”. The music video has crushed K-Pop video records on YouTube for its explosive growth.
Girls’ Generation’s bold new style with “I Got A Boy” has been well-received by critics and is now being recognized on the charts. Congratulations to Girls’ Generation on their latest accomplishments.
