SM explains the reason of naming Girls' Generation's unit 'TaeTiSeo'

Girls’ Generation has formed its first unit group since debuting in 2007, and named the unit as ‘TaeTiSeo’. The name is based on first Korean characters of the three members Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun.

In a lot of cases, unit groups come up with completely different names in order to distinguish them from their original groups. Particularly, Super Junior had named their own sub-unit ‘K.R.Y’, while After School has ‘Orange Caramel’ and Rainbow with ‘Pixie’. However, SM just gave Girls’ Generation’s unit a plain and rather harder to pronounce name, ‘TaeTiSeo’.

A representative from SM Entertainment explained, “We named them using the first letter of each member’s name because Girls’ Generation’s unit group is not permanently set. Depending on their song and album concept in the future, the members can definitely change. Waiting to see which members will form a new unit will become fun for the fans.”

“Since the members can keep changing, we had to pick a name that’s easy to remember and not so confusing to the fans”, the agency added.

Meanwhile, all the tracks of Girls’ Generation TaeTiSeo’ mini album “Twinkle” will be first released worldwide through iTunes on April 29th.
