On February 22nd, Taeyeon and Joo YoungHoon were the MCs for the ’1st GaOn Chart Kpop Awards’, which took place in Blue Square Samsung Card Hall in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Despite suffering from an injury on her toenail, Taeyeon held on and carried out her duty as an MC.
At the award ceremony, YoonA who accepted the ‘Oricon Special Award’ on behalf of Girls’ Generation gave her thanks and expressed her thoughts and feelings upon receiving the award. She then pointed to Taeyeon, requesting the leader to say a few words. Upon her request, Taeyeon who did not leave the MC-ing spot, gave her acceptance speech.
Joo YoungHoon then explained, “While Taeyeon is having an injury where her toe nail flipped off before the award ceremony today, she decided to proceed with her MC-ing duty.”
Feeling rather embarrassed with YoungHoon’s explanation, Taeyeon said,”You don’t have to go into the details, I’m ok. It’s only a very small injury.”
Due to the injury sustained, Taeyeon had to take off her high heels and put on a pair of slippers instead during the award ceremony.
Following this, netizens commented, “By proceeding with her MC-ing duty despite the painful toe nail injury, Taeyeon has shown a great sense of professionalism”, “Indeed, she is Girls’ Generation’s leader”, “I hope Taeyeon will have a speedy recovery”, etc.
