Girls' Generation receives two awards from the '26th Japan Gold Disc Award 2012'!

In the newly-released list of award winners for the ’26th Japan Gold Disc Award 2012′, Girls’ Generation’s first full-length original Japanese album ‘Girls’ Generation’ was awarded the ‘Album of the Year’ award for the Asia category, as well as one of the ‘Best 3 Albums’ award in the Asia category, alongside KARA’s ‘Girl’s Talk’ and Tohoshinki’s (TVXQ) ‘TONE’.

The Japan Gold Disc Award is one of the major annual music awards in Japan, held by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) since 1987, in recognition of the music sales and outstanding artists in the country.
The album ‘Girls’ Generation’ was released on June 1st, 2011 and has since shipped more than a million copies, according to statistics in December 2011. The album, which contains 12 songs, recorded an accumulative sales of more than 735,000 copies in December, along with its repackaged album.
In 2011, Girls’ Generation (Shoujo Jidai) won the ‘New Artist of the Year’ award and the ‘Best 5 New Artists’ award in the 25th Japan Gold Disc Award. It is truly an admirable achievement for last year’s recipient of best new artist to be awarded ‘Album of the Year’ after one short year. Congratulations and good job, girls!
