With 2011 coming to a close, Billboard has revealed its 2011 Year-end Charts. On the Japan Hot 100 chart, seven spots have been taken up by four different K-pop groups: KARA, Girls’ Generation, T-ara and TVXQ. Japanese idol group, AKB48, topped this chart with “Everyday Katchusha” and “Flying Get” in first and second place respectively. Girls’ Generation charted at 11th place with their song “Mr. Taxi”. “Gee” also found a spot in this chart at number 23.
Girls’ Generation has been receiving lots of positive feedback from overseas fans, especially in Japan. After having several successful, sold-our arena tours, they have been invited to multiple prestigious year-end events such as the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Since their single, “Mr. Taxi”, was so well received in Japan, a Korean version was later produced and released. It is the feature song on Girls’ Generation’s third repackage album, which has already been released in Korea. The repackage of the First Japan Album will go on sale December 20th.
