Ever since it was revealed that it was gagman Oh Jung Tae (35) that rescued SNSD’s Taeyeon from her kidnapping incident on stage earlier this week, SNSD fans have been hailing him as the nation’s hero for his brave intervention. Thanks to the bump in popularity, he’s now become one of the most widely recognized names with the public.
Oh Jung Tae himself, however, doesn’t think he’s deserving of it. “I didn’t do anything, how could I be called the nation’s hero? I’m definitely not. I seriously don’t know what to do with all of this attention. The hero is not me, but SNSD’s fans.”
He continued, “I feel like I’m being called a hero because of the great love that fans have for SNSD, but I am definitely not a hero. All I did was jump to action when I saw what was happening. People say that it was me that got control over him, but it was actually the security guards. I just tried to break his grip from Taeyeon’s hand because he was holding on tight.”
Concluding the interview, he expressed his gratification towards their fans by commenting, “SNSD’s fans have been sending me cakes and presents, but there’s really no need. I’m very thankful.”
Like the gagman he is, he added with a laugh, “I’m actually worried whether Taeyeon wasn’t shocked over seeing my face so close.”
