SNSD on pace to become first female artist to surpass 300,000 sales mark in 2 years

9 member girl group SNSD / Girls’ Generation are on pace to pull off the incredible feat of compiling 300,000 total album sales in a single year in Korea. On the 16th, Hanteo revealed information that SNSD sold a total of 283,975 albums from January 1st to November 15th.

These albums include their second full length album “오! / Oh!” which was released back in January and sold 122,828 copies to date. The October release of their 3rd mini album “Hoot” has sold 79,858 copies to date and their 2nd repackaged album “Run Devil Run” which was released in March has sold 55,897 copies to date. In addition, their 2009 releases of both ‘Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)’ and‘Gee’ sold 5,231 and 5,040 copies respectively.

If the girls can move 16,000 more copies before the end of the year, SNSD would become the first artist in 2 years to surpass the 300,000 sales mark. The last artist to achieve this was TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki with their fourth album, “Mirotic.” This album had a sales mark of over 500,000 and what was even more impressive about TVXQ’s feat was that the sales were compiled from only a single album in addition to the album being released in late 2008 (September 26th).
