SNSD are at the brink of achieving an incredible record this year as they are getting closer to breaking the 300,000 copies of album sales mark in Korea alone.
According to Hanteo Information System on November 16th, SNSD recorded total album sales of 283,975 copies from January 1st, 2010 to November 15th, 2010.
Hanteo’s Singer Award Chart reflects the album sales in a year rather than the total album sales since a singer’s debut. Thus, for SNSD who debuted in the summer of 2007, only the figure of ~280,000 copies was shown.
Nonetheless, SNSD’s releases in 2010 were supported by strong sales. SNSD’s 2nd Album “Oh!” which was released in January this year recorded a massive sales of 122,828 copies, while 3rd Mini Album “Hoot” released in October recorded sales of 79,858 copies so far. On the other hand, their 2nd Album Repackaged “Run Devil Run” which was unveiled in March recorded sales of 55,897 copies up to November 15th.
The three releases contributed about 250,000 copies to the total. The first two mini albums, “Gee” and “Tell Me Your Wish” released in 2009, sold 5,040 and 5,231 copies respectively this year (within the period mentioned above).
With a little over 16,000 copies more, SNSD would be the first artists to surpass the 300,000 mark after TVXQ, who broke that figure in 2008, mainly due to the sales of their 4th album “MIROTIC”.
