Oricon has just released their prediction for this year’s Kohaku Uta Gussen! Kohaku Uta Gussen, also known simply as Kohaku, is a prestigious music show broadcasted yearly on New Year’s Eve. Only the most popular artists of the year are invited by NHK, the broadcasting company, and it is said that attending Kohaku is a big highlight in an artist’s career.
According to Oricon’s prediction, KARA and SNSD may have a chance at being invited this year! The two groups have made remarkable progress in their Japan debut. Currently, SNSD is #2 on the Oricon Daily Charts with their 2nd Japanese single, Gee, having approximately 35,000 units sold so far. KARA’s most recent Japan release, Best 2007-2010, ranked #2 in the weekly rankings with 51,000 units of their album sold. In the past, KARA has also mentioned that it was one of their dreams to be invited to Kohaku. Will their dreams come true this year?
