Taeyeon Stands Up for SONEs

On the episode of MBC’s “Golden Fishery – Radio Star” which aired on the 9th of November, Park Haemi, Im Taekyung, and Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, Jessica, and Tiffany were present as guests.

Taeyeon said that when she was in a musical, she had a kiss scene. In reply to this, Kim Gookjin asked, “Don’t the So-Duks oppose to that?” After the MC asked that question, the members of Girls’ Generation all had surprised expressions, so Kim Gookjin explained that it meant, “SOnyuhshidae DUKhoos”.

Upon hearing this, Taeyeon pointed out that “It’s not a nice term”.

After Taeyeon pointed this out, the MCs became embarrassed and Yoon Jongshin said, “We were pointed out by the youngest ones here about terms that are not very nice,” and apologized by saying, “We won’t use that expression again.”

The term “Dukhoo” comes from the Japanese word, “Otaku”, which is often used to refer to someone who is crazily obsessed with someone.

After hearing this, SONEs have been voicing out their praise for Girls’ Generation’s leader, Taeyeon. Not only did she stand up for the group’s fans, she also managed to do so in a polite and respectful way to her elders. No doubt, Taeyeon has once again shown her manners and matured personality!

Girls' Generation explains 'attitude problems' controversy on MBC's 'Radio Star'

In an episode of MBC’s ‘Golden Fishery – Radio Star’ aired on November 9th, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, Tiffany and Jessica appeared as guests, along with Park Hae-mi and Im Tae-kyung.

Besides taking the opportunity to introduce their new album ‘The Boys’, the members also talked about their recent lives, as well as the controversy about their so-called ‘attitude problems’ during an interview in New York.

In response to the controversy, Taeyeon said, “They are one-sided negative reports” while Tiffany explained, “We were watching our MV together in the studio but it was longer than expected. Some members had flu and weren’t able to adapt to the time differences so we looked that way.”

Jessica then added, “We will show enjoyable expressions when we watch MVs in the future,” making the studio break out into laughter.

Taeyeon comments on the term “SNSD otaku” on ‘Radio Star’

SNSD‘s Taeyeon called out a host of ‘Radio Star‘ for using a negative term for Girls’ Generation fans on the recent broadcast of the show.

Host Kim Gookjin commented on Taeyeon’s kiss scenes during her previous casting in the musical, ‘The Sun’s Song‘. He asked, “Wouldn’t the ‘Soh-Duks’ dislike it?” referring to the mingling of the Korean word for the Japanese term “otaku” and SNSD’s full Korean name, SohNyeoShidae. Kim Gookjin further explained, “SNSD otakus.”

The SNSD members seemed slightly taken aback by the usage as Taeyeon replied, “That’s a negative expression.” The hosts expressed that they did not know about the negative connotation to the term, and Yoon Jong Shin joked, “The youngest is telling us that it’s a ‘negative expression’. Let’s not use the phrase again.”

SNSD’s Tiffany and Jessica also appeared on the episode.
