Yuri Opens Instagram Account

On June 13th, Yuri opened an Instagram account under the username yulyulk and shared a photo of herself from Girls’ Generation’s “2013 Girls’ Generation’s World Tour – Girls & Peace” tour.

Yuri is now the third member of Girls’ Generation to join the photo sharing service, following Taeyeonand Hyoyeon. Taeyeon recently uploaded a photo of herself and the members of Girls’ Generation from the world tour concerts in Seoul, and included a caption tagging both Hyoyeon and Yuri.

All of the photos Taeyeon and Hyoyeon have uploaded and their captions can also be found on Soshified. Yuri’s photos will be shown below and updated with their captions translated as well.

Sooyoung Opens Instagram and Weibo Accounts

Sooyoung joined both Instagram and Weibo on the day of the girls’ “Girls’ Generation World Tour – Girls & Peace” stop in Macau on February 15th. Hyoyeon posted a picture on her own Instagraminforming her followers of Sooyoung’s new Instagram account, saying, “This is Insta beginner Sooyoungggggggg welcome welcome”.

Sooyoung’s caption for her first post on Instagram says, “Woody is on top of the cupcake. It’s really cute *_*”. Later, she commented on her own photo several times: “Is this how I do it?”, “Yuri, Hyoyeon”, “Can you see my picture????”, and “Hold on, I will be back from performing”. She even commented on one of Yuri’s photos, saying, “Hi Yuri-ya, I’m Syoung”. Sooyoung also uploaded the same picture onto her Weibo account with the message, “Hello Macao ;) Thank you for our cupcakes”.

Sooyoung is the seventh Girls’ Generation member to join a social media site. Her translated updates and photos for both Instagram and Weibo will be uploaded in the slider below.

Seohyun Opens Twitter Account

On November 4th, Seohyun opened a Twitter account with the username sjhsjh0628 and tweeted her thanks to fans for their efforts in helping Girls’ Generation’s “I Got A Boy” win the “Video of the Year” award at the YouTube Music Awards. Her first tweet matched her message on Girls’ Generation’s official website, but also included “sone !! u guys are the best!:)”. Seohyun later tweeted another message in English, again thanking fans for voting, and included a selca.

Seohyun is the latest member of Girls’ Generation to create a public account on social media, following Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Hyoyeon, and Yuri.

Girls’ Generation Releases ‘Mr.Mr.’ Mini Album and Announces March 6th Comeback

Girls’ Generation has just released the “Mr.Mr.” mini album through iTunes, MelOn, Olleh, and various other internet music portals. The mini album consists of six songs: “Mr.Mr.”, “Goodbye”, “Europa”, “Wait a Minute”, “Back Hug”, and “Soul”, with “Mr.Mr.” as the album’s title track. In addition, “Soul” is the Korean version of Girls’ Generation’s recent OST for the “Blade & Soul” video game.

Pre-orders for the physical album have also been opened on DVDHeaven (no poster, folded poster,rolled poster) and on Korean websites such as leesmusic and synnara. There will be one version of the album.

S.M. Entertainment has announced that Girls’ Generation’s “Mr.Mr.” mini album will be digitally released today, February 24th, at 5 PM KST. The mini album, consisting of six songs, will be released worldwide through iTunes, MelOn, Genie, and other music portals. The physical album will hit stores on February 27th.

In addition, Girls’ Generation’s first comeback performance has been scheduled for March 6th on Mnet’s “M! Countdown”. No official statement on the “Mr.Mr.” music video release date has been given at this time.

Update: Girls’ Generation Sends Greeting for ’2014 HEC Korea Festival’

In preparation for their appearance at the “2014 HEC Korea Festival” in Vietnam this March, Girls’ Generation recorded a message for the event. In the video, the girls, dressed in their pink outfits from their “Girls’ Generation World Tour – Girls & Peace” performances, cheerfully welcome people to the upcoming concert.

On March 22nd, Girls’ Generation will be performing in the “Human Culture Equilibrium Concert” as part of the “2014 HEC Korea Festival” in Vietnam. The festival will take place at the Army Stadium. Other performers will include 2PM, miss A, and SISTAR.

The HEC website is currently featuring the girls’ “I Got A Boy” music video. The “2014 HEC Korea Festival” will also be held at later dates in other countries, including China, Singapore, Mongolia, and Australia. Currently, Girls’ Generation will only be performing in the “Human Culture Equilibrium Concert” for Vietnam.

‘InStyle’ Magazine Features Sooyoung for March Issue

The March issue of “InStyle” magazine featured Sooyoung for a photoshoot and briefly covered Sooyoung’s father’s work for the Korea Retinitis Pigmentosa Society, or the KRPS. The KRPS is a charity organization which works to provide retinitis pigmentosa patients with updated medical information, to console patients, and to encourage patients to fight the disease and slow its progression.

Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung, who went from the member of a top girl group and is preparing for another takeoff as the MC of an entertainment program. “Seeing” holds a special meaning for her. While she is a celebrity who captures the eyes of the general public, at the same time, she is related to a family member who suffers a retina disease.

Korea Retinitis Pigmentosa Society — “My dad’s eyes are really bad. Like comedian Lee Dongwoo, he’s suffering from a retina disease. The ‘Korea Retinitis Pigmentosa Society’ is a group that helps and gives hope to those who are in danger of blindness. I wasn’t able to take part very much because of my schedules, but through this charity pictorial, I want to at least help by dad, the head of the campaign, a little.”

Light of hope— “Retinitis pigmentosa is a rare disease that is caused by a genetic abnormality. There isn’t any particular treatment method, so you slowly lose your eyesight without being able to receive any treatment. I heard that overseas, they have been doing lots of stem cell research and clinical demonstrations. This type of movement is insignificant in Korea. If it’s difficult trying to come up with methods of treatment immediately now, I think it would be good to at least provide information through consistent seminars and give patients a little hope that they can be cured.”

The difference between sympathy and consideration— “Help only driven by the desire to help could make things hard for the visually impaired. In order to lead the way, rather than holding their hand and pulling them along, just quietly offer them your arm. The initial symptoms for retinitis pigmentosa is ‘night blindness’, so it helps a lot if you shine a cell phone light. Careful consideration of brightening the lights a little for a customer with bad eyes visiting a dark restaurant, and allocating the last row of seats in movie theaters is needed.”

Petty sharing— “When you say ‘charity’, it sounds like something big, but if you just set your mind to it, there are a lot of things that you can help with really easily. Such as purchasing medicine for patients with retinitis pigmentosa through overseas websites, or, like my fans, you could spare some time and help prepare seminars. Donating your voice to create audio books is also a good way to help.”
