Girls' Generation makes explosive comeback on 'Music Bank'


Girls’ Generation is kicking off the new year in high gear!

On January 4, the nine talented ladies of Girls’ Generation hit the stage of ‘Music Bank’ and kicked off an explosive comeback performance of their latest title track “I Got A Boy” as well as the pre-released track, “Dancing Queen.”

“I Got A Boy”, is an electronic dance song that has a mix of pop, retro and urban genres. The hook’s addictive melody leaves an impression, and the main theme of the lyrics is “girl talk”. It carries small talk about everyday life between girlfriends, increasing the fun.

The group’s fourth official album, which achieved an all-kill on music charts, is backed by a long list of renowned composers and producers including the famous European composition team, Design Music and British singer-songwriter Pixie Lott.

Girls’ Generation to hold a ‘virtual’ concert through Naver Music

 
Girls’ Generation will be holding a virtual concert through Naver Music.
 
The ‘Girls’ Generation V Concert‘ will take place on January 5th at 8PM KST on the M-Stage at Seoul’s Gangnam Station. The ‘V Concert’ stands for ‘virtual concert’, and will be a concert presented through realistic holograms. SM Entertainment revealed they will be holding many virtual concerts all over the world in the future.
 
During the virtual concert event, Girls’ Generation will be nearby and recording in ‘a visible radio booth’. The concert and the radio show will be broadcast all over the world real-time through Naver Music. This will be the 9th concert that Naver Music will be broadcasting live, after other acts such as Epik High and 10cm.

Sooyoung and Yoon Do Hyun send their New Year greetings in hanboks on ‘One Night of TV Entertainment’

 
On the January 2nd broadcast of SBS’One Night of TV Entertainment‘, MCs Yoon Do Hyun and Girls’ Generation‘s Sooyoung greeted viewers for the New Year in beautiful traditional clothing (hanbok).
 
The MCs greeted the viewers, stating, “‘One Night of TV Entertainment’ greets you for the 2013 new year. Happy New Year.”
 
Sooyoung and Yoon Do Hyun were seen politely wishing viewers a happy new year while donning matching pink and blue hanbok.
 
Sooyoung then joked to Yoon Do Hyun, “I hope all your dreams come true, and I hope your face ages as you get older to show viewers that I do not have an ‘old face’. You have a very ‘young-looking face’,” making viewers burst into laughter.

Girls’ Generation’s music video for “I Got A Boy” has received over 10 million hits on Youtube!

“I Got A Boy” music video, which was released on January 1, received over 10 million views on YouTube in only 55 hours, marking the shortest time to ever achieve the feat in the history of KPOP music video. The music video of Girls’ Generation’s new song breaks HyunA’s “Ice Cream” record with 10 million views in 87 hours.

As of January 4th at 9:30 AM KST, the music video for “I Got A Boy” has 11,955,706 hits and continues to rake in more views, proving the global popularity of the group.

Girls' Generation to appear on 'Radio Star'

 

The beautiful ladies of Girls’ Generation, who recently made a comeback with “I Got A Boy”, will be featuring as guests on an upcoming episode of MBC’s ‘Radio Star’!

According to the show’s producers, all nine of the Girls’ Generation members participated in the talk show’s recording on January 2 which took place at the MBC Dream Center in Ilsan.

On the show, Girls’ Generation introduced their comeback album, ‘I Got A Boy’ as well as talked about their love and personal lives with Radio Star’s male MCs. While Tiffany, Taeyeon and Jessica previously appeared on the show, this is the first time that all nine members will be featured together.

The episode is expected to air in the coming weeks.

Girls' Generation to release edited "Dancing Queen" MV due to Sunny's controversial cap

 

 Sunny’s cap from Girls’ Generation’s music video for “Dancing Queen” has been receiving attention for bearing a swear word.

Towards the conclusion of the music video, a brief preview of the group’s comeback title song, ”I Got A Boy” is played while showing each of the members. At Sunny’s part, she can be seen wearing a rebellious cap with the words, “WELCOME MOTHERF★CKERS”.

Many netizens have been expressing their discomfort and criticism saying, “Since Girls’ Generation has many young and teenage fans, they should consider things like this more carefully.”

Regarding the issue, SM Entertainment responded it has begun editing the scenes in the music video and announced that it will be re-releasing a new version of the “Dancing Queen”.
