Hidden story behind SM's casting revealed

A hidden story behind SM Entertainment’s idol casting methods has been revealed and receiving a lot of attention.

Recently, several photos of SM artists were posted on a community website with the caption “Behind stories about SM casting.” Along the post were several hidden stories behind the casting of some popular idols.

According to the post, TVXQ’s Changmin received the offer during a game of badminton, while Super Junior’s Kangin was discovered at an amusement park. Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun was noticed by an SM manager while taking the subway.

Attracting much attention from netizens was EXO-K’s Sehun, who had to run away from a SM’s casting manager for some 30 minutes.

Netizens commented, “Of course good looks are important,” “I can so imagine all of this” and “SM’s casting stories, the managers have great eyes”.

Stories behind the casting of several SM Entertainment artists have been revealed, attracting much attention from fans and netizens online.

 

A post in an online community revealed a few of the stories behind the street casting of the artists, who attracted the attention of SM Entertainment employees and insiders.

 

TVXQ‘s Changmin is reported to have been noticed during a game of badminton, while Super Junior‘s Kangin was spotted while on an elephant ride at an amusement park with his friends. Girls’ Generation‘s Seohyun was noticed by a manager while on the subway. EXO-K‘s Sehun was spotted by a manager while eating at a street food stand, and then followed by the manager for 30 minutes until he was successfully cast as well.

 

The artists cast successfully by the SM managers started their lives as trainees, and they’ve are now promoting as members of very popular groups.

Netizens commented, “SM’s casting stories… Honestly, appearance is important for idols too“, “The casting is based on looks? Changmin and Seohyun are great singers too“, and “SM’s casting stories, the managers have great eyes“.

Girls' Generation Featured in 2012 Gangnam Festival

The sixth annual Gangnam Festival, which took place from October 2nd to October 7th, concluded yesterday with a special K-Pop concert at COEX featuring Girls’ Generation. The festival had also included an international peace marathon for charity, fashion contests, and fashion shows.

During the concert, Girls’ Generation performed “Genie”, “MR. TAXI”, “Hoot” and “The Boys” in the yellow and gold outfits seen above before changing into blue jeans and white t-shirts to perform “Kissing You”, “Oh!”, and “Gee”. TVXQ! and Super Junior, Girls’ Generation’s labelmates from SM Entertainment, also performed at the concert.
