Who is the most influential celebrity in Korea?

The yearly rankings by the Sisa Journal for the people who move Korea has been published, and Girls’ Generation has been ranked as the #1 most influential celebrity for the second year in a row.

Girls’ Generation was in first place with 26.2% of the votes, ahead of the nation’s MC Yoo Jaesuk with 21% and Park Jinyoung with 10.1%. Girls’ Generation widened the gap since last year where they were first with 18.2% compared to Yoo Jaesuk’s 14.2%. The worldwide success of “The Boys”, the Girls’ Generation – TTS subunit, Yoona and Yuri’s drama roles, and each of the nine members helped to promote the name “Girls’ Generation” to gain even more recognition within Korea and abroad as the representative of Hallyu. Girls’ Generation was sixth on the list in 2009 and 2010 before taking the top spot in 2011.

Additionally, Mnet released their list of top 100 idol stars, and all nine Girls’ Generation members were represented within the top eleven spots. Mnet’s poll took into account online voting from fans for 30% of the final score and the results from the internationally respected polling company Gallup, which accounted for the remaining 70% of the score.

Girls' Generation releases "Paparazzi" in Korea

Girls’ Generation’s latest Japanese single “Paparazzi” has been released in Korea on August 16th.

The girls released their fourth Japanese single “Paparazzi” in Japan on June 27th, and topped the Oricon Singles Daily chart and Japan’s iTunes Daily chart. By selling over 100,000 copies, the single has also been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association in Japan (RIAJ). 

“Paparazzi” is a dance song characterized by a dreamy sound and an addictive melody, with world-renowned musicians, Miles Walker and Tom Coyne participated in the making of the single.

The single is available in three versions in Korea including a limited edition (CD + DVD), a regular CD + DVD edition, and a CD-only edition. The DVD contains the music video of “Paparazzi” as well as behind-the-scenes clips.

"The 3rd Hospital" releases character posters

With less than a month before its anticipated premiere, tvN released the character posters for the upcoming medical drama, “The 3rd Hospital” featuring lead cast members Kim Seungwoo, Oh Jiho, Kim Min Jung and Girls’ Generation Sooyoung.

Each characters’ different looks are alluding their characters, and arousing fans’ anticipation. Director Kim Young Jun said, “It was hard to express different characters, but the actors rather guided me so well. Please wait to check out their amazing jobs.”

“The 3rd Hospital” is centered on a hospital that practices both Oriental and non-oriental medicine. The drama outlines the competition that took place among neurosurgeons who challenge one another to cure their patients using various western and oriental medical methods. 

The drama is set to begin airing September 5th at 11 PM KST.

Yesung and Yoona snap lovely selcas!

Super Junior's Yesung and SNSD's Yoona show off their close relationship in their recent selcas.

On the 15th of August, Yesung updated his twitter account and shared, "With baby yoon~ ^^ It's raining a lot recently ...." and shared three selcas.

They smile brightly while wearing black rimmed eye glasses, no doubt fans are envious of their friendship and good looks.

Netizens commented, "They resemble each other, they could look like siblings on a drama", "They look like lovers, really cute", "They are so pretty and beautiful!".

Jessica & Krystal release "Butterfly" for 'To The Beautiful You' OST

The Jung sisters, Girls’ Generation’s Jessica and f(x)’s Krystal, have just released their first duet track for the OST of SBS upcoming drama series, ‘To The Beautiful You’ (For You in Full Blossom).

On August 15th, Jessica and Krystal released their latest track titled “Butterfly” throught various music distributions websites. The song has a playful melody while its lyrics sing of the innocence that a girl and boy goes through experiencing their first love. 

‘To the Beautiful You’, which also starring SM Entertainment labelmates f(x)’s Sulli and SHINee’s Minho will premiere on August 15th at 9:55PM KST on SBS.
