Girls’ Generation votes for member Hyoyeon on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ nullified

The votes that the Girls’ Generation members have been placing in support of member Hyoyeon have all been unfortunately nullified.
Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung recently visited fellow member Hyoyeon who was busying rehearsing for her final performance on MBC‘s ‘Dancing With The Stars 2‘. Sooyoung remarked that the girls have been texting in their votes week after week to show their support.
However, the votes that the ladies have texted in up until now have all been unfortunately nullified. The girls were to only text in Hyoyeon’s name and participant number, but they also included emoticons and personal messages, causing their votes to become invalid.
Although Hyoyeon expressed her gratitude for the members’ support, the singer displayed her strong desire to win by saying, “Please just text in my name next time.
Meanwhile, anticipation is consistently rising for the final broadcast of MBC’s ‘Dancing With The Stars 2′ scheduled to air July 20th.

Hyoyeon prepare for the final round of 'Dancing With The Stars II'

Hyoyeon has made her name shine, now known not only as “Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon”, but also as simply “Hyoyeon”. To prepare for her final performance on MBC’s ”Dancing With the Stars II” on July 20th, Hyoyeon was busy practicing with her partner, Kim Hyungsuk; her hair was tied tightly, beads of sweat dripping down. With her constantly rigorous schedule, her health was a concern, but she continued to smile and use all of her remaining strength to prepare for the finals.

“Because it’s the last time, I got a little greedy. I purposely requested lifts and other difficult skills that we haven’t done often. Because we don’t have a lot of time, I at least want to match the music well. As always, I get nervous 2-3 days before the competition.”

Since her trainee days, right behind SM Entertainment’s female singer BoA, Hyoyeon was a good dancer and was known as a “dancing queen”. As she is able to handle all kinds of dance genres, it was expected that she would be able to learn sports dance just as well. However, it wasn’t that easy. The movements are completely different from dances performed by singers, thus providing a challenge for Hyoyeon.

“Because this was my first time taking on sports dance, I learned the basics first. Simply bending and extending your knee was completely different from what I was used to. Because it is not a field that I specialize in, feelings of not wanting to fail are strong. And so I’ve been practicing a lot more compared to the beginning [of the show]. I was in the practice room until 5 AM the day of the semi-finals.”

After always going around as a group of nine members, Hyoyeon has spent the past three months alone. She stated, “At first, the members’ absence felt large. I had confidence in teamwork, but didn’t know about partnerships well, so I had a little trouble. I was also shy of the skinship with Hyungsuk. Because I was like that, Hyungsuk was even more shy. So I thought of it as acting and watched a lot of videos. After that, the touching felt comfortable.” She added, “It’s a relief it didn’t overlap with group promotions. If it did… whew! Overseas schedules were the most difficult. When we go out [of the country] once, I’m absent for a long time.” She said that the hardest thing was that the flow of their partnership was cut when she went overseas.

Hyoyeon also discussed difficulties pertaining to her career as an entertainer. Since there are a lot of members in Girls’ Generation, there are times when Hyoyeon gets less attention compared to others. However, Hyoyeon has received her spotlight through “Dancing With The Stars II”. She has succeeded in capturing the attention of not only young fans, but also housewives who view the show at the late hour it broadcasts. Hyoyeon agreed with these observations about her now broader fan-base.

“I don’t feel down about not shining as much, being overshadowed by my other members. While I do appear on ‘Invincible Youth 2′ and other variety shows, since this program isn’t just to deliver laughter, but instead requires you to win based on skills, my posture changed. If I do win, I think I’d be deeply touched.” Her eyes got watery while saying, “Of course I was happy receiving awards as a Girls’ Generation member, but if I was to reach the greatest spot with my name, ‘Hyoyeon’…”

After her last match with Choi Yeonjin, the winner will finally be chosen.

“I don’t feel any greed towards winning. I don’t know if it’s because Yeojin-unnie has danced before, but her [body] line is really pretty when she dances. Still, if I don’t win, I guess I would feel disappointed, down, and sad? And, so I don’t feel sad, I really worked hard.”

“I’ve honestly been hearing a lot of compliments while appearing on ‘Dancing With The Stars II’. Because I’m receiving compliments, I’ve been wanting to do sports dance even more. I even thought, ‘Should I enter a competition?’ Haha! I’m really enjoying this moment.”

Sooyoung makes a cake for Hyoyeon to cheer her on 'Dancing With The Stars II'

Girls’ Generation members have been making personal visits to the live broadcasts of MBC’s “Dancing With The Stars II” every week to cheer on Hyoyeon, who is trying her hand at sport dancing, and have been captured on camera often. Sooyoung, who unforunately hasn’t been able to visit the live set due to her drama filming, visited Hyoyeon’s practice room with a cake she made herself early in the morning.

Sooyoung stated, “When Hyoyeon received the request to come on ‘Dancing With The Stars II’, I supported her, telling her she had to do it. I was sad that Hyoyeon, who dances so well, didn’t have chances to show that off all she wants in the past, so I was happier [than Hyoyeon] when her appearance was confirmed. I really hope she wins.” This day, Sooyoung discussed the choreography and concept idea together with Hyoyeon. She also exposed how Hyoyeon boasted about her partner being handsome after she first met Hyungsuk.

Girls’ Generation members also show their support for Hyoyeon by voting. During her visit, Sooyoung revealed that she sent text votes with all of her family members’ cell phones every week. However, there was disappointment when it was revealed that all of the texts Girls’ Generation had sent thus far were all counted as invalid votes. The reason was because of the members’ excessive love for Hyoyeon. While they are only supposed to either write the entry number or Hyoyeon’s name, they sent texts with various emoticons. Their lengthy text messages, such as “Hyoyeon♥♥”, “Hyoyeon is number 1″, and “Judges, please give Hyoyeon high marks”, were all counted as being invalid.

Hyoyeon said that, “I sent text votes,” are the most touching words lately. She expressed her thanks to her members who voted for her by saying, “Next time, I would like if you would send them just saying ‘Hyoyeon’”, expressing her hunger to win.

Hyoyeon will be competing in the finals of “Dancing With The Stars II” on July 20th at 9:55 PM KST on MBC.

Get to know Korean culture with Girls' Generation

Girls’ Generation was included in the ‘Korea Promotion Guide Book’ by Professor Seo KyungDuk of Sunhshin Women’s University.

On July 19th, Professor Seo KyungDuk said, “A guide book to promote the culture of Korea Republic featuring Korea’s representative group Girls’ Generation will be published. For the convenience of foreigners, the guide book is written in English and it introduces the main cultural contents of Korea Republic – Hangul (Korean alphabets), Hansik (Korean food), Hanbok (Korean traditional dress), Hanji (Korean traditional handmade paper) and Hanok (Korean traditional house)”.

Professor Seo KyungDuk added, “Today, with the widespread of the Kpop worldwide, I feel that there is a need for promotional materials that introduce Korea’s culture to go along with it. So, I came up with the idea of providing a guidebook that will be easily available anywhere in the world”.

He further explained, “With the guide book that features the current representative of Korean culture contents, Girls’ Generation, it will not be just another guidebook that one only look at it once but it will be made of high quality, environmental-friendly papers so that young people from all around the world would want to keep collecting them”.

Representative from SM Entertainment said, “Through participation in the guide book, Girls’ Generation vows to work harder in order to spread the awareness on the Korean culture even more extensively”.

Starting from next week, 50,000 copies will be distributed to foreigners who visit the Yeosu EXPO and 30,000 copies will be made available in London, the host of the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games. Besides that, 20,000 copies are also expected to be distributed among famous universities throughout the world.

The thirteen accessories, including a pearl ring with Tiffany’s initials engraved on them, a belt she wore on stage with TaeTiSeo, and other unique, one-of-a-kind items like her customized handbag, worn by the star will be auctioned off on CeCi’s official homepage.
