Sunny : Rookie mentality and fans keep Girls' Generation going strong


On June 19th, Girls’ Generation’s Sunny made an appearance on KBS 2TV’s ’1 vs 100′ to challenge for the prize money amounting to 50 million Won.

On the show, Sunny said, “It will be Girls’ Generation’s 5th anniversary soon.” MC Han SukJoon then asked, “How many more years do you think Girls’ Generation could carry out activities together?” In reply to the question, Sunny smiled and said, “As long as there is rookie mentality in us, I think we could still be together as Girls’ Generation, even after more than 10 years.”

Sunny added, “The most rewarding moments were the times when we heard that our fans gain strength from watching us. In order to hear such words for a very, very long time, we will be presenting our strength-giving performances to our fans for a very long time as well.”

Meanwhile, Sunny was eliminated in the 6th round in the game show.

Girls’ Generation voted for ‘best stage performance’ by Japanese netizens

Girls’ Generation was selected in Japan as the single girl group who put on the most lavish stage performances.
On June 18th, Japanese mobile music service chart Recochoku reported the results of their ‘Girl Groups Who Put On Lavish Dances’ rankings. Girls’ Generation was voted #1 by users who said, “Their dances are sexy and cute at the same time, and you can’t help but be captivated by their long, lean legs.
Others said, “People are blown away by the synchronized dance put on by 9 girls. Their fashion style is also amazing.
Following behind Girls’ Generation were dance group E-Girls, techno-pop girl group trio Perfume,KARA, and SPEED.
In related news, Girls’ Generation will be releasing their new Japanese single “Paparazzi” on June 27th.

'Girls' Generation 1st Japan Tour' DVD and Blu-ray Discs ranks high on Oricon


‘Girls’ Generation 1st Japan Tour’ DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BD) are hot-selling items in Japan in the first half of 2012.

According to Oricon’s 2012 first half ranking, the ‘Girls’ Generation 1st Japan Tour’ BD was ranked 2nd in the ‘Music BD Sales’ category with 56,000 copies sold. In the ‘Music DVD Sales’ category as well, Girls’ Generation had once again proven their huge popularity by selling 148,718 copies in the first half of the year, where it was ranked 4th.

Girls’ Generation kicked off their ’1st Japan Arena Tour’ on May 31st, 2011 with 14 performances in 6 cities in front of 140,000 fans. Released simultaneously on December 14th, 2011, the BD and DVD had also dominated the Oricon weekly charts for both the BD and DVD categories at the same time, making Girls’ Generation the first foreign artist to have achieved such an impressive feat.

Jung sister's Jessica and Krystal for 'Marie Claire'


The Jung sisters, Girls’ Generation’s Jessica and f(x)’s Krystal will grace the cover of the July special edition issue of the fashion magazine, ‘Marie Claire’.

On June 20th, the fashion magazine released a few pictures of Jessica and Krystal showcasing matching looks. Both girls flaunted their doll-like image and slim bodies, yet displaying their individuality.

Yuri Selected as Model for AMOREPACIFIC' s 'Share Your Umbrella' Campaign!



On June 19th, AMOREPACIFIC revealed that they would be starting the “Share Your Umbrella” campaign for two months, starting on the 21st.

Yuri has been selected as one of the models for the campaign along with Shin Minah, Yoo Ah-in, Lee Miyeon, and Jo Insung. The campaign will also have a “Share Your Umbrella” event, where umbrellas carrying the stars’ autographs will be distributed as prizes.

This campaign is one where customers will receive “beauty points” with every purchase made in all AMOREPACIFIC stores. The customers can then exchange 9900 points for a “Share Your Umbrella” umbrella, with a portion of money made from sales being donated to a flood damage restoration organization.

The “Share Your Umbrella” campaign will continue until August 20th.

Taetiseo’s interview and photo shoot with ‘Elle Girl’!

‘Elle Girl’ magazine has published a batch of eyecandy from Girls’ Generation sub-unit Taetiseo‘s photo shoot! In the pictures, the Taetiseo members are overflowing with energy and charm. The cover is especially a feast for the eyes, as it features the three girls smiling happily while leaning against each other, thus flaunting their well-known and intimate friendship.
In addition to a photo shoot, the Taetiseo members sat down for an interview in which they were asked for their opinions concerning their sub-unit promotions.
Girls’ Generation “kid leader” Taeyeon first confessed, “While promoting for our unit, the burden to do well had increased immensely.“ After further inquiry for her thoughts, Taeyeon clarified, “Although it feels more burdensome representing Taetiseo compared to representing Girls’ Generation, I enjoyed fulfilling this opportunity to the utmost, [as I was able to] sing, which gives me joy.
Fellow Taetiseo member, Tiffany, shared her thoughts concerning her style during Taetiseo’s promotions, as she said, “Since a red hairstyle suited Nicole Kidman in ‘Moulin Rouge’, I decided to try it out first-hand and see if it suits me.
As for Seohyun, when asked about her most cherished memory as a teen, the maknae remarked, “My trainee days, [since that was] the time that I spent with my unnis sweating day after day and striving towards our dreams.
