Yuri's Mamonde CF receives criticisms

As previously reported, Girls’ Generation member Yuri, who has been praised for her recent attempt at acting, has joined Super Junior's Choi Siwon as Amore Pacific’s Mamonde’s new model.

Yuri’s new CF for the brand began airing on television on April 22nd, but unexpectedly received heavy criticisms for sending the wrong message to its young viewers.

The commercial shares the easiest method to obtaining a new luxury-brand handbag. It first gives several ways of saving money including finding another job, not going out with friends, and continually monitoring your own bank account.

But in the end, Yuri gives up all options and complains, “It’s too complicated. It’s going to take too long.” Then the commercial comes up with a final solution, saying, “just get a boyfriend” who will buy the bag for you.

The commercial ends with its slogan, “The only solution” and introduces their own ‘one simple solution’ to resolving all your skin troubles.

Netizens expressed their displeasure over the commercials saying, “The concept is so strange”, “Even as a woman I’m uncomfortable with this” and “How can they suggest that you can have handbags as long as you date men?”

Taetiseo, IU and Ivy to release new albums back to back

The idol comeback frenzy continues, as some of the biggest names in the industry will be returning to the music scene. Soloist Ivy will be making her long-awaited comeback, followed by the debut of Girls’ Generation‘s subgroup Taetiseo. The nation’s sweetheart IU will also be releasing new material.

Ivy will be releasing her ballad song “Torn Heart” on the 27th of this month to kick off promotions for her new mini-album. This is the first time in 2 and a half years the singer will be releasing an album with fresh new songs.

It has been a long time since Ivy has stood on stage, and she is more than determined to deliver joy to her fans with a fresh, new transformation. The singer who has until now been known as a sexy K-Pop diva has filled her new album with mellow ballad tracks. Personally writing and composing her sub-track “Flower“, Ivy is proving to be more than just a performer.

But she has yet to toss aside her sexy image completely. With a few provocative photos in her album jacket, Ivy proves that she is still the sexy queen of K-Pop.

Following Ivy’s comeback, Girls’ Generation’s subgroup Taetiseo will be making their grand entrance as a trio. Comprised of Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun, Taetiseo is Girls’ Generation’s first subunit since debuting in 2007. The girls have been drawing major attention from fans all over the world ahead of releasing their new material, and their new song “Twinkle” is scheduled to drop on the 29th. “Twinkle” is a medium-tempo funky soul dance track that blends Stevie Wonder‘s style of music from the 70′s and 80′s with the more contemporary sounds of today.

Taetiseo’s new album will be first released on iTunes worldwide, and the physical album sales will begin on May 2nd.

The nation’s ‘little sister’ IU will also be releasing a new song in May.

IU’s representative remarked, “We are not sure as to the exact form in which she will be revealing her new song, but she will be unveiling the new song in early May. We are also brainstorming ideas for her new promotions.”

Each new release by IU has been a smash hit, and the fact that a new song is scheduled to drop without a specific plan in regards to promotions is drawing interest from netizens.

IU will also be embarking on her first Korean Tour starting this June.

'Love Rain' stands still

KBS2 TV drama “Love Rain” continues with its snail pace.

According to AGB Nielsen Media Research on April 25th, “Love Rain” aired on the 24th, rated 5.6%. This is 0.4% higher than the previous episode.

However this drama is on a standstill mode and has the lowest viewing percentage compared to other dramas. SBS “Fashion King” and MBC “Lights and Shadows” rated 9.4% and 23.6%.

“Love Rain” is significantly far from “Lights and Shadows" and the gap with “Fashion King” is also widening. Unlike viewers’ expectations, it was rated as cliché since the very start and even though the scene of the drama has changed in generations, it still doesn’t attract any attention.

While Jang Geun Suk (Seo Joon) and YoonA’s (Jeong Ha Na) love mode has become official, many wonder if the viewing rate will turn direction and go up again.

Lee Joon gives Tiffany a big hug

MBLAQ’s Lee Joon gave Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany a big hug to overcome his anxiety. 

On the April 24th episode of SBS ‘Strong Heart’, Lee Joon revealed his phobia of exchanging greetings with Girls’ Generation. He explained, “I’m just too shy to greet Girls’ Generation. If I were to smile while greeting them, I’m afraid that they might think I’m weird.”

Tiffany confirmed, “Everytime we meet one another on music programs, Lee Joon would avoid eye contacts with us and went out of sight.”

Eventually, Park Kyung Lim offered some advice to Lee Joon and demonstrated a way to greet Tiffany. As coached, Lee Joon approached Tiffany and greeted her happily with a big hug. He continued with a short “Gee” dance and ended with a respectful 90-degree bow. 

Tiffany reveals she gets stressed over airport fashion

Girls’ Generation member Tiffany confessed that she’s been under some stress because of “airport fashion“.

On April 24th, a staff member from SBS‘s ‘Strong Heart‘ shared that on the recent filming of the show, Tiffany revealed, “Before, I used to go to the airport without caring about what I wore. But as airport fashion started becoming a hot topic, I began to care more.”

She continued, “On the days that I dress up from head to toe, there are no reporters. But strangely enough, when I come back from a performance abroad with no makeup on while wearing slippers, I get a lot of pictures taken,” sharing her worries and frustrations about airport fashion.

In addition to Tiffany, the latest recording of ‘Strong Heart’ included guests such as Ivy, Lee Joon, Kim Na Young, and Park Kyung Lim.

Girls’ Generation unit Taetiseo reveals another teaser photo

Girls’ Generation‘s new unit Taetiseo has been revealing various teaser photos with a different member as the focus each time, and they have just unveiled their latest teaser image.

A representative from SM Entertainment revealed, “Starting with Taeyeon’s teaser today, the unit Taetiseo, who possess very colorful charms, will reveal a teaser featuring each member one by one. As Taetiseo’s new music and performance are still shrouded in mystery, the members’ teasers should amplify fans’ curiosity and expectations.”

Taetiseo’s digital mini album will be revealed through iTunes on April 29th, and will feature a booklet with different photos from that of the physical album. It will also include recordings of the members introducing their favorite tracks.
