Girls' Generation's Japanese album surpasses 1 million sales mark

Girls' Generation and KARA, who have earned the title of Hallyu representatives in Japan, have been competing head-to-head on whom will be taking home a "million certified" album first.

It looks like Girls' Generation took the lead as their first Japanese album, "Girls' Generation", which was released on June last year, surpassed the one million sales mark on January 11th, half a year later.

The only Korean singer to ever have reached a million album sales is the "Asia’s Star", BoA. Her 2nd Japanese album "Valenti" which was released in January 2003 recorded sales of a whooping 1.24 million copies while her "Best of Soul" album released in February 2005 sold 1.09 million copies. Being the first Korean girl group to surpassed the one million mark is an amazing accomplishment for Girls’ Generation.

Girls’ Generation took the top spot on the Oricon chart in their first appearance, and stayed in the top ten for thirteen weeks, a record for a “long-seller”. After being labeled as a "Double Platinum" album for selling more than 500,000 copies, the group released a new song along with a repackaged album in December, making its way to break new record.

Sunny Recieves Praise for Her Hard Work in "Koala Kid"

The large amount of effort that Girls' Generation's Sunny put into voice acting for “Koala Kid: Birth of a Great Hero” is drawing praise from the director of the movie.

The movie’s director, Lee KyungHo, said he has “fallen for Sunny” after seeing how hard she works. “We had to record at the end of the year, but because Girls’ Generation had so many schedules, we had to record at dawn. In Sunny’s case, she could look at the script [while recording], but she came with the entire thing memorized. She even matched her voice with how the mouth looks in the animation.”

Not only did she come to the recording fully prepared, but she also made sure her best work was shown. Lee KyungHo continued, “We recorded for two days, and we finished accordingly on the second day. I told Sunny, ‘I really like it, but if you think anything is weird, we can go through it again.’ Sunny said she wanted to record it again from the start, and some parts came out better [than the first time].”

Last week, Sunny attended a press conference for the film where she thanked her fellow members Taeyeon and Seohyun for their advice on dubbing for an animated movie. “Koala Kid: Birth of a Great Hero” will be released on January 12th.

“大阪第26届金唱片颁奖典礼(The 26th Golden Disk Awards In Osaka)”将于1月11日~12日的下午6点30分在日本大阪的京瓷巨蛋（Kyocera Dome）举行，届时，引领全球韩流热风的K-pop明星们将集体亮相舞台。  

“金唱片”是在韩流的震源地——日本举行的首场K-pop颁奖典礼，此次盛会将以K-pop秀的形式举办，极具看点。少女时代、Super Junior、KARA、CNBLUE、BEAST、FTISLAND等23个组合将倾巢出动，通过丰富的表演吸引大家的眼球。

颁奖典礼将分为唱片和音源两部分进行。 唱片部分的获奖者将在颁奖典礼首日揭晓，出席者将围绕金唱片唱片本奖、大奖、新人奖、最佳韩流明星奖、人气奖、韩流符号奖等展开激烈的竞争。Super Junior成员李特和KARA成员圭丽将担任典礼首日的司仪。  

音源部分的获奖者将在第二天揭晓，届时将产生音源本奖、大奖、新人奖、亚洲最佳组合奖等奖项。第二天的司仪由FTISLAND成员宏其（音）和miss A成员秀智担任。 在这次颁奖典礼中，人们将再次感受到偶像组合的威力。KARA、少女时代、Super Junior、BEAST、4minute等人气组合都被提名为人气组合候选。 特别是，凭借《The Boys》在唱片和音源销量榜上全部排名前列的少女时代此次会收获几个奖项，成为颁奖典礼的一大看点。

2007年她们凭借《重逢的世界》首次登上金唱片的舞台并获得新人奖之后，在随后的2009年凭借《说出你的愿望》拿到了音源大奖，并在2010年凭借《Hoot》拿到了唱片大奖。 Super Junior也很可能会收获多个奖杯。在2006年出道之初，Super Junior便凭借《Twins》拿到了新人奖，此后除2008年之外，他们每年都会拿到两个奖项，备受聚光灯的钟爱。2009年他们更是凭借《Sorry Sorry》拿到了唱片大奖。针对新一代“少女时代”和“Super Junior”进行的新人奖领域，A pink（《不知道》）、B1A4（《O.K》）和Dal★shabet（《Bling Bling》）都被提名为候选人。 JTBC将对这场在日本举行的盛况进行录播，日本方面由朝日电视台进行录播。

在1月6号在某网络社区论坛上挂有一篇以“Miss A Min让人惊讶的过去”为标题的文章以及照片吸引了许多网友们的关注。如文章当中所显示 Miss A 敏 与 少女时代 孝渊 俩人手挽着手一起面对镜头微笑合照。


目前经过多年以后两人现在分别是“少女时代”以及“Miss A”著名女子组合的成员之一。

Sooyoung visits Park Seungil

On January 10th, Girls' Generation's Sooyoung visited former basketball coach Park Seungil.

This is not the first time a member of Girls' Generation paid him a visit, as the coach has already made headlines several times because of his close relationship with the members.

Park Seungil, who’s been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a big fan of the group. This inspired Sooyoung to visit him often at the hospital.

Animated movie "Koala Kid" reveals new MV ft. SNSD's "Way To Go"

Upcoming animated movie, "Koala Kid: Birth of a Hero" has released a new music video featuring SNSD's hit track "Way To Go".

Girl's Generation's Sunny, SHINee's Taemin and Yoon Dahoon will be working together and will lend their voices to the upcoming movie. Taemin will voice the main character Johnny, a white koala turned hero, opposite to the character will be Miranda, which will be voice by Sunny.

The animated Korean film “Koala Kid: Birth of a Hero” will hit the theaters on January 12th.

Hyoyeon and Min's Childhood Photo garners much attention!

This picture from the earlier days of miss A's Min and Hyoyeon of Girls' Generation has been roaming around the internet.

On 6 January, a picture of Min and Hyoyeon was posted on an online community with a caption saying "Min's shocking past"

In the picture, Min and Hyoyeon are locking arms and smiling brightly at the camera. At a very young age, the two of them each were wearing sleeveless sweatshirts and a matching hat.

Even after a few years, their beauty has remain unscathed.

Many people who saw the photo commented, "They're so pretty", or "That could be what they look like without makeup, right?", and "Now and then, I like the Min the best.", "You were pretty even as a child", and "She's so cute".

To add to this, Min and Hyoyeon are both active in their respective girl groups, "miss A" and "Girls' Generation", and are acknowledged and loved in Korea and across Asia.
