SNSD’s Yoona was encouraged by IU’s “Someday”

The ladies of SNSD who have just made their comeback with their third album ‘The Boys‘ recently guest-featured on SBS Power FM‘s Jung Sun Hee‘s ‘A Night like Tonight‘, where they shared their struggles and the songs that helped them get through the hard times.

Member Yoona admitted that when they first went to Japan, she was exhausted and overwhelmed with the idea that she needed to grow and develop as an artist. And when she began getting lost in her depressed thoughts, she turned on her MP3 player and the first song that played was IU‘s “Someday“.

The song, she said, was so fitting to her situation, and gave her encouragement by offering her a sliver of hope. She empathized with the lyrics “I don’t believe in myself, even though I say it often“, and was encouraged knowing she wasn’t the only one going through a difficult situation.

Other members also revealed their musical tastes and preferences, such as Taeyeon who went out of her way to find songs that were more depressing than her current situation, making herself feel better in comparison, and Hyoyeon who searched for up-beat, exciting tracks when she was feeling down and beat.

YoonA "IU's songs help to relieve stress"

YoonA confessed that she used to listen to IU’s songs to relieve stress in Japan.

On October 21st, SNSD made their comeback with their 3rd album ‘The Boys’ and they appeared as guests on SBS PowerFM ‘Jung SunHee’s A Night Like Today’. Members talked about their personal choice of comfort songs during stressful times.

On this day, YoonA said, “There were a lot of times when I felt exhausted when we first went to Japan. I was worried because I always told myself to improve. When I was depressed, the song that was most played in my MP3 was IU’s ‘Someday’.”

YoonA became hopeful, because the message in the song matched her situation well. She said, “I had empathy listening to the lyrics, especially the line ‘I tell myself to believe in myself, but I don’t.’ I was relieved as I realized that I was not the only one who suffer from these thoughts.”

Besides this, the contrasting characteristics of Taeyeon who looks for depressed music when she is depressed and Hyoyeon who blasts music loudly to hide her feelings also attracted attention.

On the other hand, SNSD members chose Seohyun as the military-like disciplinarian in the team. When explaining the reason, members said, “She is the strongest. Her lifestyle is so disciplined that even the unnies (old sisters) can’t be compared to her.”

Yuri praised for her flawless legs in 'High Cut'

In the 63rd edition of the star-style magazine, ‘High Cut’ published recently, Yuri revealed both her young girl’s look as well as the mature side of herself.

For the pictorials, Yuri put on modern vintage casual wears from G By Guess. The filming staff and brand officials were all amazed at how the denim jeans fits Yuri perfectly. Photographer Kim BoSung said, “As her leg lines are perfect, there is no need for any correction”.

SMTOWN Charms New York Concert A Success

Continuing from Los Angeles, Paris and Tokyo, SMTOWN also charms the New York fans.

On 23 October, 7.30pm (local time), SMTOWN was presented at the [SMTOWN Live World Tour in New York] at Madison Square Garden, New York, driving a crowd of 15,000 fans wild.

Asia's representative singers like Kangta, BoA, Super Junior, TVXQ, SNSD, SHINee and f(x) were all presented in this concert. Besides performing the hit songs by each team, there were also special stages as well as joint stages that are unique only to SMTOWN. SNSD also revealed the English version of their new song [The Boys], which also had a worldwide release.

This concert has made a record as the first concert by Asian singers to be held at Madison Square Garden, the mecca of American pop culture.

In order to report the event, the concert was also attended by local reporters from the New York Times and the New York Daily, as well as international reporters from Japan's Sankei Sports and Nikkan Sports.

About 70% of the audience comprised of non-Asians, which reaffirmed the international popularity of SMTOWN.

The audience also had a lot of fun singing along and mimicking the Korean cheers perfectly.

Taeyeon and Sunny turn twins for 'Singles'!

Taeyeon and Sunny’s recent photo shoot for the November issue of ‘Singles’ with the concept of ‘twins’ was revealed.
On October 24th, a post titled ‘Taeyeon and Sunny’s recent photo shoot, I thought they were twins’ was posted onto an online community, with photos attached.

In the photos, Taeyeon and Sunny transformed into twins and presented their elegant and mature beauties.

The staff who wrote the post added, “We required them to show an even closer friendship (in the photo shoot) than their usual intimity as roommates. But to our surprise, the two girls treated each other even better behind-the-scene, with zero awkwardness.”

Netizens who saw the post commented, “They really appeared like sisters”, “Taeyeon and Sunny are both really pretty”, “Congratulations on SNSD’s comeback” etc.

'SMTOWN Live in New York' Performances

On October 23rd, SM TOWN artists including BoA, Girls' Generation, Kangta, f(x), SHINee, TVXQ and Super Junior performed in Madison Square Garden, New York for the "SM Town Live World Tour Concert".
