SM Entertainment artists take over Tokyo for ‘SM Town Live in Tokyo’

From September 2nd through the 4th, the Tokyo Dome shook with the cheers of 150,000 fans, all cheering for their favorite artists during the ‘SM Town Live in Tokyo‘ concerts.

For three days, SM Entertainment labelmates BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, f(x), CSJH, Kim Min Jong, Kang Ta, and many others came together for the second time since January. Over 600,000 fans applied for tickets, leading SM to add another concert date.

The concert kicked off with an impressive opening video and then ballad performances by Kim Min Jong and Kang Ta. SNSD was up next with their own hit tracks, while TVXQ followed with Super Junior. tThe label’s maknae groups, SHINee and f(x), rounded out the stage.

Shindong, Eunhyuk, Minho, and Key also came out with a fun hip hop performance of “A-Yo“.

TVXQ and SNSD in particular impressed fans by conversing with them in fluent Japanese throughout the concert. There were a lot of collaboration stages between the groups as well, such as Jessicaand Krystal‘s “Tik Tok” and Seohyun and Kyuhyun‘s “Way Back Into Love“.

Akigawa Masafumi, a Japanese popera singer, collaborated with Ryeowook, Yesung, and Onewfor “A Thousand Winds“.

Fans were also delighted to see Sulli and Kang Ta interact for their “7989” stage, during which Kang Ta handed her a rose and drew jealous screams from fangirls and fanboys alike.

SNSD Sooyoung’s sister to take lead role in stage version of ‘Winter Sonata’

Although SNSD‘s Sooyoung is a name well-recognized across South Korea, her older sister has yet to become a familiar face. But that may soon change, however, thanks to the lead female role Choi Soo Jin nabbed for the stage version of the famous TV drama, ‘Winter Sonata’.

Choi Soo Jin, who will play the role of ‘Yoo Jin’, has also participated in musicals in the past, including ‘The Wizard of Oz‘, in addition to singing for soundtracks of popular dramas like ‘The Greatest Love‘.

‘Winter Sonata’, which will begin playing on September 27th at the Myungbo Art Hall, will also star Kim Tae Han in the dual roles of ‘Jun Sang’ and ‘Min Hyung’, which were filled by Hallyu star Bae Yong Joon in its initial 2000 broadcast.

Eider reveals behind-the-scenes footage from YoonA and Lee Min Ho’s photoshoot

SNSD‘s YoonA and charismatic actor Lee Min Ho recently teamed up to shoot a series of commercials for Eider, a French sportswear brand. While they gave off an exuberant couple look in the released videos, fans were curious to see what they were like behind the camera. Eider delivered by releasing never-before-seen footage of the charismatic duo at the photoshoot.

“It’s the first time I’m seeing Yoona up-close,” confessed Lee Min Ho. ”I think she’s a very cute dongsaeng so I think we’ll be able to work very well together.”

“Thanks to the handsome Minho-ssi, we were able to complete the shoot happily,” YoonA said. “It wasn’t particularly hard, and it was fun.”

Lee Min Ho concluded, “Every man wants to be an outdoor brand model, so I’m very happy about that and I will work very hard to establish a positive brand image.”

Japan Praises SM Town Performances

Today the website for the major music chart in Japan, Oricon, released articles praising the performances of Girls’ Generation and other artists at “SMTown Live in Tokyo Special Edition”. The four and a half hour concert took place over a period of three days from September 2nd through September 4th at the Tokyo Dome in front of 150,000 cheering fans, and impressed everyone with passionate performances of a 56-song set list.

During Girls’ Generation’s performance, Seohyun mentioned Sooyoung, who was unable to participate due to being in a car accident on August 28th. Seohyun apologized, saying, “We are also lonely (without her), but we are sorry to the fans who looked forward to today…The eight of us will do our best, including Sooyoung’s portion.” The girls did not disappoint, and the fans were captivated by their performance.

The eight girls performed hit songs “Genie”, “Mr. Taxi”, “Gee”, and more. The performances included multiple outfit changes, like black mini skirts, white short pants, and black leather pants that showcased their trademark beautiful legs.

Over 240,000 fans have attended SMTown concerts in six countries. Beginning in Seoul last year SMTown has traveled abroad to Los Angeles, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Paris, and this October 23rd will take the show to New York City’s Madison Square Garden for an expected audience of 15,000.
