'Entertainment Weekly' Says K-Pop Makes Japan's Tokyo Domo Shake


The biggest Hallyu stars of Korea were present at the K-POP Festival that was held at Tokyo Dome.

On the episode of KBS2′s ‘Entertainment Weekly’ that was aired on the 16th, scenes from the K-POP Festival were shown, showing the global power of the Hallyu Wave, that was spread past Asia into the world.

Tokyo Dome, with is the biggest venue in Japan, is the dream stage of artistes all over the world and can hold 50,000 people. Singers such as IU, KARA, B2ST, 2PM, Girls’ Generation and TVXQ were present at the venue to represent Korea.

Japanese Hallyu fans have chosen choreography, songs and good looks as the charm of K-POP and the night started off with a spectacular performance by KARA.

Following them came the cute and talented IU, 2PM with their extravagant choreography, Girls’ Generation and TVXQ, who were performing at Tokyo Dome for the second time since their concert in 2009.

When the concert was over, TVXQ stated, “We’re happy we were able to participate in this concert that became another opportunity to spread K-POP.”

SNSD TVXQ SHINee KARA and more to perform at "2011 K-Pop Music Fest in Sydney"


Dubbed as “THE biggest event in Australian Asian Pop history”, the 2011 K-Pop Music Fest in Sydney which is scheduled for the 12th of November is set to bring in 10 of the top Idol groups from South Korea. Groups such as KARA, Secret, 2AM, SHINee, Miss A, 4Minute, TVXQ, CNBlue, B2ST and Girls’ Generation are slated to perform at the first ever all-star K-Pop concert which will be held at the Sydney ANZ Stadium.

JK Entertainment has organised this event in view of the 50th anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Ties Between Korea and Australia. The company has confirmed with SBS PopAsia that these groups will be brought into Sydney for the concert. Also, the K-Pop Music Fest will be broadcasted by Korean TV Channel, MBC. Although the concert has been confirmed, the exact date as to when tickets go on sale is yet to be announced.

SNSD heads to Jeju Island for a Performance


After successfully wrapping up their first Japan Arena Tour on July 18th, the girls are back in South Korea to continue with their schedules. The 9 girls were spotted at Gimpo Airport earlier today and will head to Jeju Island to attend KBS's "World's Seven Natural Wonders". The special event is held to help raise awareness about Jejudo, and other artists like labelmate f(x) will be present as well.

Even though looking tired, the girls smiled for the cameras and were decked in casual outfits that highlighted their differences in style. Girls' Generation will perform their Korean hit songs, "Hoot" and "Gee". Additionally, the event will also be broadcast at 520PM KST through the KBS channel.

New Eider models YoonA and Lee MinHo to travel Down Under for ad shooting


On July 20th, actor Lee Minho and SNSD’s YoonA were announced as outdoor brand, Eider’s new models.

Following Jang Hyuk and Chun JungMyung’s ‘Eider Friends’ activities during the fall season, Lee MinHo and YoonA, as Eider’s models, will be meeting the customers through appearances on TV as well as publishing media.

Eider’s Brand Marketing Team Leader, Jung YongJae said, “Eider which gained huge popularity through Jang Hyuk and Chun JungMyung last season, selected the two stars with refined and trendy styles as models in order to attract young customers in their 20s and 30s. Lee MinHo and YoonA, the top stars who are icons of the young people, possess the stylish fashionista charms and they will be able to express Eider’s young and refined styles very well”.

Meanwhile, Lee MinHo and YoonA are scheduled to leave for Australia in August for the new 2011 F/W season advertisement campaign shooting session which will kick off at the end of July.

Girls' Generation Successfully Finish Their 1st Japan Arena Tour


On the 18th, Girls' Generation successfully completed their first Japanese tour. The tour began May 31st in Osaka, and ended on July 18th in Fukuoka, with concerts in Saitama, Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Nagoya in between. Performing 14 times over six cities, Girls' Generation was able to mobilize as many as 140,000 spectators, once again proving their popularity not just in South Korea, but across Asia as well.

During the concert, Girls' Generation performed a variety of their songs, such as: "GENIE", "Gee", "Run Devil Run"; as well as tracks from their first Japanese album: "Let It Rain", "The Great Escape", and "MR. TAXI". They also received focus for performing other Korean hit songs that have never been officially released in Japan such as "Into The New World" and "Oh!". By performing over 30 songs, each of the members were able to let their individual personality shine, leaving the Japanese fans captivated.

Despite this being only nine months since their debut in Japan and their first arena tour, Girls' Generation had almost 450,000 people seeking tickets, showing that they have continued to explode in popularity with their colorful charm, exceptional skills and brilliant stage direction that has even drawn praise from officials.

Having finished their tour in Japan, Girls' Generation will now head back to Korea for their 2nd Tour on the 23rd and 24th of July at the Seoul Olympic Park Stadium.
