Lee Hyori, Yoo Jae Suk and SNSD visits Solbi’s play

Stars have been making non-stop visits to the play “Lee Ki Dong Gymnasium” in order to show their support for actor Kim Sooro and singer Solbi, who are both lead stars of the play.

Solbi exhibited her wide network of celebrity friends through a series of photos she uploaded onto her Twitter. The star received visits from gagwoman An Young Mi, actress Kim Na Young, singerShinji, MC Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Hyori, and even SNSD.

The play concluded its Seoul performances on February 26th and will be moving on to Busan for a two-day show on March 12th and 13th.

SNSD reveals ‘Dior Snow’ CFs

Last week, six of the nine members of SNSD revealed their ‘Dior Snowcosmetics advertisements that garnered a lot of attention due to their beautiful looks.

Recently, CFs for their endorsement were revealed. The first version of the CF is just a 50-seconds long clip showing all the members talking about the cosmetic.

For the second version, it includes the original CF along with individual CFs where each member promotes a product from Dior.

Girls' Generation will campaign as a water filter model for Woongjin Coway!


The nation's best girl group Girls' Generation will campaign as a water filter model for Woongjin Coway.


A living + eco home appliance company Woongjin Coway(CEO Hong Joon Ki) confirmed on 27th that they signed a contract with Girls' Generation to be their exclusive model until the end of the year.

As the consumer group expanded from 40~50s to 20~30s, as well as housewives to single men and women, the company explains their choosing Girls' Generation to give the impression of 'a young company' as well as showing their status as the nation's number 1 water filter company.

Lee Woo Tae, a director of Woongjin Coway's marketing headquarter said that "Girls' Generation, along with the classy image as the nation's best girl group, has friendly image as well," explaining that "they suit very well with the image of the new product that has concepts that people have never seen before."


Woongjin Coway launched a new product last month that has two extracting filters with different height that allows for people to fill up large water bottles or pots, up to 1L at once. As there are many more new products to be launched, Woongjin Coway is planning on making different commercials for different products corresponding to each of 9 member's unique characteristics.

Forbes Korea ranks SNSD first in 8th annual Korea’s Power Celebrity 40

Kim Yuna has been dethroned as number one for the past two years; now the coveted #1 goes to SNSD. Forbes Korea based this decision such as the number of articles about SNSD, product endorsements, and popularity on internet searches. In 2010, SNSD sold a staggering +270,000 albums (compared to Super Junior’s +250,000), 11.73 million internet downloads, and had 25 advertisements in total.


So how much did SNSD make exactly? Upwards of 200 billion won (200 million USD) from both the Korean and Japanese market. In addition, SM Entertainment’s stock has risen over 300% this year alone (not calculating inflation). SM Entertainment had a very, very good 2010, and with a new male group set to debut soon and SHINee preparing to do promotions in Japan, 2011 should be stellar as well.

SNSD to model water purifiers for “Woongjin Coway”

On February 27th, Woongjin Coway revealed that they selected SNSD as their exclusive models and recently contracted with the group for their water purifiers. Their contract will begin on March 1st and last through the year, while TV advertisements will begin running in mid-March.

With the water purification market expanding, Woongjin Coway believed that SNSD would be the perfect model in expanding the consumer base of their company, especially since the group is much loved by all age groups.

One representative stated, “In the past, our models included Kim Jung Eun, Song Hye Gyo, Lee Young Ae, and others. With the market expanding, we decided that SNSD would be a good fit since they’re popular with a variety of age groups.”

They continued, “Since Woongjin is #1 in the industry, our promotion plan is one that can only be done by a company of such stature. By creatively using the unique charms of each of the nine members, we’ll be releasing advertisements that show how our water purifiers are set apart from the rest.”

Girls' Generation, 2011 Korea star power ranking 1st place!


Girls' Generation was voted as a star who will have the biggest impact in Korea in 2011.

Economy magazine Forbes Korea released recent 2011 Korea star power ranking. Girls' Generation got first~third place in all of number of articles, TV CFs, internet search, sales, activity, etc, and got first place overall.

Last year, Girls' Generation sold the most albums within Korea. Despite album market being in depression, they sold over 270,000 albums and took first place over Super Junior.

Also, they appeared in 25 CFs and proved themselves as powerhouse of CF market. It's been analyzed that the sale total that Girls' Generation have earned through album sales, CFs and TV appearances is 10 million won.

From there, activities in Japan shined. According to Sankei Sports, after Girls' Generation debuted last September, they earned 880,000 Yen (approximately 12 million Won) in album sales alone just late part of the year.

Just in sales, they earned at least 22 million Won and took second place after Bae Yongjoon in sales category.

Individual member activities also shined. Sunny and Yuri through KBS2 'Invincible Youth', Seohyun through MBC 'We Got Married', each showing off their ability.

Taeyeon sang "Like a star" with The One, and had a hit song with SBS drama 'Athena OST', grabbing attention as OST queen of new generation. Yuri and Tiffany also showed off their skills in MBC 'Show! Music core'.

Especially last year, they showed off their hidden charm 100% through their first concert since debuting, making crowd go wild.

Through these, they got lots of shining achievements in sales, media and broadcasts, activities and selected as a star who will brighten 2011.

Meanwhile, in Forbes star power ranking survey, Kim Yuna, who got first place the past two years, dropped to third, and soccer player Park Jisung climbed up to second, settling themselves as Korea representing sports stars.

Other than them, Lee Seunggi, 2PM, 2AM, Lee Hyori, Rain, Super Junior, Big Bang, 2NE1, B2ST etc made themselves on top half of the list, showing off the power of singers.
