[News] Girls' Generation's music video “Hoot” to be unveiled today


The music video for Girls' Generation's newest song "Hoot" from their new mini-album will be disclosed today, according to their agency SM Entertainment on Thursday.

SM stated through a press release that the newest music video will be revealed on Girls' Generation's official website and SM's Youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/sment).

“Hoot” is the title track from Girls’ Generation’s new mini-album released yesterday. Its teaser video alone received over one million hits just two days of its release, reflecting the high anticipation fans have for the girls' comeback.

In the music video, member Siwon of 13-member boy band Super Junior makes a surprise appearance.

Meanwhile, Girls' Generation is ready to make a full-fledged comeback in Korea although they are currently engaged in large scale promotional activities in Japan.

The group will return home to perform in popular TV music programs like KBS’ "Music Bank," MBC’s “Show! Music Core” and SBS’ “Popular Song” starting this Friday.

[News] SNSD and KARA earned 10 billion won in Japan


Korean Girl groups have been very active in Japan's music market, SNSD and Kara especially have earned almost 10 billion aggregately in Japan.

SNSD debut last Sept 8 with Single Genie followed by Second single Gee on 20th. Up to date 'Genie' has sold 145,000 copies while Gee 70,000 copies.

Kara debut with single Mister on August 11 and Kara's Best Album (compilations of Kara's hit songs) was released on September 29. Up to date Mister and Best album have sold 100,000 copies and 150,000 copies respectively.

In japan, when releasing a single, there's normal edition and limited edition. There are several versions available. Depending on the version, prices range about 1000 yen to 2000 yen. Because of different version and prices, estimated (average out) price would be about 1,500 yen per copy. With that price in mind and thus calculation for their income: SNSD's Genie and Gee sold for 217 million yen (about 3 billion won) and 105 million yen (about 1.5 billion won) respectively while Kara's mister and Best album sold for 150 million yen (about 2.1 billion won) and 225 million yen (about 3.1 billion won) respectively which in total so far is about 9.7billion won of income.

Moreover, SNSD 'Gee' topping Oricon single chart at #1 on 26th within one week of release. Compared to Genie, Gee received great response. Kara is expected to have similar result when second single to be released in Japan next mid-month, the record earnings are expected to exceed 10 billion won aggregately.

Meanwhile SNSD and KARA will promote in both Korea and Japan at the same time. SNSD will promote 'Hoot' in Korea and 'Gee' in Japan. While Kara will promote new song in both Japan and Korea in November. Both groups are expected to have busy schedules.

Yesterday, the ladies of SNSD / Girls’ Generation released their third mini album ‘Hoot’. The album is selling like hot cakes and recently official photos from the album have been uploaded online.

Nice to see other girls besides Seohyun using the bow as well. As for the music video for Hoot, there’s no word from SM Entertainment on when it’s going to be released. [News] Girls’ Generations new album receives over 150,000 pre-orders


Female idol group Girls' Generation's new mini-album "Hoot" received over 150,000 pre-orders, indicating that the girls are set to take Korea's music industry by storm again.

Their agency SM Entertainment revealed on Wednesday that “Hoot,” which went on sale today, received 51,000 online and 99,490 offline advance orders, adding up to 150,490 pre-orders in total.

“Hoot” contains five songs including its title track of the same name as the album, “It’s My Fault” whose lyrics are written by member Yuri and “First Snowfall…” that sings of lovers in wintertime.

The song "Hoot," which was revealed two days ago, has ranked within the top slots of various online portals and music service providers.

Girls’ Generation will make their comeback with the new song via major music programs at KBS, MBC and SBS, starting from this Friday.
